Chapter 67: Ye Weiyang – "You Went Down So Early, They Thought You Were Not Good Enough"

The final two epic forging materials were successfully claimed—Ying Suifeng acquired the Abyss Cold Iron for 78 million, while Lin Chen won the Blazing Dragon Heart with a bid of 89 million.

With those final purchases, the auction concluded smoothly.

As Feng Ling'er left the stage, Ye Weiyang turned to Lin Ze with a professional smile.

"Mr. Lin Ze, please come with me. I'll take you to complete the final transaction."

Lin Ze nodded silently.

Before following, he cast one more glance toward the girl who looked like Cai'er.

He couldn't be entirely sure, but his instincts told him she probably was. Either way, now he knew she was in the Demon Hunting Group Selection Competition, and since Yue Ye would be stationed in the Holy City for a while, he was confident they'd have a chance to meet again.

Maybe he could even sneak into the selection venue somehow.

At the transaction office, under Ye Weiyang's guidance, Lin Ze handed over his sunglasses-patterned card. Within a few minutes, Ye Weiyang returned with two small velvet-lined boxes.

"Mr. Lin Ze, these are the Holy Spirit Pill and the Covenant of Rebirth ring you successfully bid for."

Lin Ze casually swept his palm across both boxes. With a flick of spiritual energy, he stored them into the Forget-me-not ring on his finger.

Ye Weiyang's eyes flicked to the ring on his middle finger, her gaze lingering for a second longer than usual.

She blinked in mild surprise, then chuckled softly, "I didn't expect Mr. Lin Ze to already have someone he cherishes."

"She must be a remarkable girl."

Her tone was teasing. "Haha, don't tell me that ring you just bought is meant for her too?"

Ye Weiyang's curiosity was genuine, though tinged with a strange flutter of disappointment in her chest.

Just when I meet someone interesting... he's taken.

"Favorite?" Lin Ze repeated, clearly confused.

Ye Weiyang was momentarily stunned, but quickly covered with a light laugh. "Wearing a ring on the middle finger means you're in love. And seeing how you put that new ring away so quickly, I'm guessing it wasn't meant for yourself."

Lin Ze looked at his left hand subconsciously.

And in that moment, a memory surfaced—five years ago, when Cai'er silently slipped a ring onto his finger.

They were still young then. She probably hadn't understood what it meant.

But now...

He had bought the ring for her. It was something he had never given her in return. Back then, he left too soon—without giving her anything at all.

He fell silent.

Ye Weiyang noticed his expression, and wisely chose not to press further.

At least, she thought, he probably didn't even know what wearing the ring meant. That realization gave her some faint, inexplicable relief.

She smiled, keeping her tone light. "Mr. Lin Ze, shall I escort you back to the hotel?"

He nodded.

They walked quietly down the corridor, side by side.

Just then, Lin Chen, who had completed his own transaction, stepped out from the adjacent room. Upon seeing Ye Weiyang, he instinctively moved forward to greet her.

Ye Weiyang instantly tensed, not wanting to get tangled with him again. Before Lin Chen could speak, she quickly looped her arm around Lin Ze's, pulling him along and pretending to chat intimately as they passed.

Lin Chen stopped in his tracks, watching their backs fade away. He let out a long sigh.

Beside him, Lin Xin opened his mouth to speak—

—but before he could, Ying Suifeng appeared beside them like a shadow.

"Old man Lin, you're not getting any younger. It's time to stop. She's clearly not interested—so why keep chasing?"

"Hmph," Lin Chen scoffed. "No wonder you're still single. You don't understand—what you can't get is always the best."

But then he shifted the subject. "Still, I'll give it to you. That assassin you brought today—her killing intent was terrifying. I'm guessing she's on the verge of breaking through the sixth level. With her, the Assassin's Temple has a good shot at a top-three finish in this year's Individual Competition."

Ying Suifeng folded his arms and sneered. "Top three? You're underestimating my Assassin's Temple. The number one position among the six temples is long overdue for a change."

Lin Chen didn't even react. He was used to Suifeng's arrogance by now.

"Where's the girl now? Wasn't she with you just now?"

"I let her take a walk. It's not often we come to the Holy City. I gave her a day off."

In truth, Cai'er had requested some time to herself after the auction. Ying Suifeng, trusting her judgment, didn't refuse.

Meanwhile, outside the Holy Alliance Auction House...

Cai'er stood quietly at the entrance, her purple skirt swaying gently in the wind. Her eyes were fixed on the crowd, scanning passersby.

She didn't know why she was still here.

Maybe... to see him again?

But just then, under the surprised gaze of nearby onlookers—

Ye Weiyang emerged from the auction house, intimately holding Lin Ze's arm, laughing and chatting as they walked out together.

Cai'er's heart sank.

Her mind echoed Ye Weiyang's earlier claim—

"He's my partner."

It wasn't strange for a couple to walk like that.

It's perfectly normal...

And yet, her mood—once curious and light—turned inexplicably heavy.

Her hidden lips pressed together tightly under the veil.

Just before the two came into view—

Cai'er's figure vanished.

Moments later, Lin Ze and Ye Weiyang entered the hotel next door, still arm in arm.

Countless hearts shattered on the spot.

Their goddess, Ye Weiyang, had just walked into a hotel with a man!

Inside the presidential suite at the top of the hotel.

Lin Ze entered the room. Yue Ye and the other two were gone—probably off handling their own affairs.

As the door closed, Ye Weiyang exhaled deeply.

"It's finally over..." she muttered, exhaustion creeping into her tone. She turned to Lin Ze and smiled gratefully.

"Thank you, truly. After today, those pests should stop bothering me."

She paused, then added with a cheeky grin,

"That was your reward for helping me earlier. But now that it's done, you can go home. I need a good nap."

Lin Ze turned toward the door.

But Ye Weiyang suddenly smirked and said, "That won't work. If you leave this fast, those people downstairs might think you're... not very good."

She popped the mini-fridge open, pulled out two chilled bottles of beer, and tossed one to Lin Ze.

"Want a drink?"

The corners of her lips curled up playfully.
