Chapter 133: Does he love her? Unfortunately, she no longer wants it.
Clearly knowing it's impossible to know, yet this possibility still haunts him like a nightmare. Every time he thinks about it, his heart trembles, and he is unable to sleep all night. He must hold her, feeling her tangibly in his embrace, to find peace.
"Click," the bathroom door opened, and Aurelia Shaw walked out, with her long curly hair wet and draped over her shoulders. Her eyes, hidden beneath the strands, had regained their clarity, yet as if deeply immersed in a role, her emotions were not entirely detached from the circumstance. Moreover... she had truly experienced these things in her past life, only that the ending was different.
A hint of coldness flashed through Aurelia's eyes, and a faint curve appeared quietly at the corner of her mouth.
Recently, there have been too many things to handle, and some changes relaxed her vigilance. This renewed experience gave her a harsh slap, reminding her of the humiliation and torment she had suffered in her previous life.
Footsteps approached from behind, and Aurelia slightly restrained her emotions, turned around, her gaze instantly becoming wary and flustered, glaring at the newcomer with a chilling intensity that made Mason Nightshade momentarily stunned.
He abruptly halted his steps toward her, suppressing the heartache to comfort her, "Don't be afraid; I won't come over. Here, you are the safest."
Hmm?
Aurelia suspiciously observed Mason's expression, a plan forming in her mind. Amanda Fuller said he was interested in her, but how deep was this interest? Has he fallen for her, or is it merely at an interest level?
Yet, ironically, in the previous life, Mason wouldn't even spare her a glance, but in this life, would he actually like the reborn Aurelia Shaw?
What a pity.
What she desperately tried to win and please in the past, she now no longer desires.
While thinking this, the fear on Aurelia's face became more apparent. She took two steps back, her eyes fixed on him, not daring to slacken.
Mason's heart tightened out of habit, his hand reaching out before thinking, his foot moving half an inch forward, instinctively sliding his gaze to her lower leg. But something crossed his mind, and his foot retreated back, his usually calm face showing a nervous expression, yet when his gaze reached her smooth calf, he froze!
Thinking of something, anger surfaced on Mason's face.
"Where is the plaster cast on your leg?"
Aurelia didn't expect Mason to change his expression so suddenly, was momentarily stunned, and then remembered that she had removed the cast today for convenience, leaving it casually in the bedroom at Cloud Pavilion Garden.
"My leg is fine now, there's no need for it anymore," Aurelia said blandly.
Mason, however, thought she removed the cast early to present the best image to the producer. She had frequently done such reckless things in the past, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she was unaware of how to take care of herself.
"Stand there, don't move. I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow to have the cast redone," Mason said, walking over, bending to pick her up.
Aurelia took a step back and slapped his outstretched hand with a "slap," her cold gaze fixed on him, lips tightly pressed with tension, "Don't come any closer! I've said I'm fine, you can't touch me!"
Aurelia screamed desperately, her voice momentarily beyond control, the ending trembled a bit.
Mason's heart tightened sharply, his fingers froze in the air, joints tensed, gradually clenched into a fist.
He had promised to protect her, never to let her get hurt again, yet he had let her endure pain once more, right under his watch!
