Chapter 131: Don't leave my side, I don't want to lose you again.
"I can walk by myself." Aurelia said, supporting herself with the sofa, standing up shakily, her fingers tightly grasping the suit jacket, taking small steps, wobbling towards the exit, almost making people think she would fall several times.
Mason's heart tightened, he stepped forward trying to support her, but before he was near, his outstretched hand was slapped away with a "slap," her cold gaze glaring at him, making Mason's heart suddenly ache.
His whole body stiffened, nailed to the spot, watching her back fade away and disappear from sight, a nightmare that had tormented him for many years suddenly emerged in his mind: her lying on the cold, dark floor, eyes empty and silent, forever distancing herself from him.
Suddenly, Mason dashed out, rushing all the way to the parking lot, catching Aurelia before she could get into the Viscount's car, grabbed her wrist, pulled her to his car, hugged her inside, and bent over to fasten her seatbelt. Aurelia frowned slightly.
"Mason, what are you doing!" the Viscount strode angrily after them.
"Taking her home." Mason said, ignoring the Viscount, opened the driver's seat door and sat inside. Before he could close the door, the Viscount held the car door, preventing him from closing it, his eyes blazing with rage, as if he wanted to kill him.
"I won't let her go back with you!" the Viscount said, tugging at the corner of his mouth, with a smile, "We could fight again, don't think I can't beat you!"
"Feel free to try." Mason's gaze darkened slightly, saying in a low voice.
The Viscount raised his hand, ready to throw a punch. Mason was ready to punch too.
"Stop!" Aurelia's cold, solemn voice rang out. She closed her eyes, suppressed her anger, and said, "If you're going to fight, do it outside. I want to go home now, so if you're giving me a ride, do it. If not, I'll walk home myself!"
As she spoke, Aurelia was about to get out of the car when Mason held her wrist tightly, refusing to let go. Aurelia shot him a cold glance and said, "Let go!"
Mason's fingers stiffened, holding her slender arm, his fingers moved, slowly releasing her one by one. At this moment, the backseat door was suddenly opened, and the Viscount got in.
With arms crossed over his chest, he said cheekily, "I'll let you take her, but I'm coming along with you both."
Mason glanced at Aurelia, seeing she no longer intended to get out, he exhaled and drove towards Nightshade Residence, and parked the car in the yard there.
As soon as he stopped, Aurelia opened the car door and walked out, heading inside without looking back, and the Viscount quickly followed after opening the car door.
Seeing this stance, it was clear they planned to stay here tonight.
"Hey." Mason shouted at him from behind.
The Viscount turned around, glaring at him impatiently, "What?"
"I love Aurelia." Mason suddenly blurted out, the Viscount was stunned, only to see Mason's eyes crystal clear under the night sky, "I won't let her get hurt again, nor let her feel exhausted because of me anymore. I will be a good husband and make her the happiest woman in the world. What happened today will never be repeated! Those who hurt or scheme against her, I will crush them one by one!"
Mason stood tall and straight, lacking his usual slightly rogue demeanor, his black eyes calm and serious, steadily gazing into the Viscount's eyes. The Viscount noticed Mason's hand hanging by his side, firmly straightened against his leg.
This was the posture of a soldier.
Mason... was he making a promise in a soldier's manner?
