Chapter 111: The Servant Who Betrayed Their Master
"A child without a mother's teaching is poorly brought up," Sophie Nye sneered.
Aurelia Shaw's gaze instantly turned cold. She narrowed her eyes with a chill and looked at Sophie Nye. Sophie was startled by her gaze, but then she remembered she was Mrs. Nightshade. Aurelia wouldn't dare do anything to her, so she straightened her back and met her gaze with a cold snort.
Even if she didn't like hearing those words, what could she do? In front of her, she could only hold it in.
If Aurelia dared to say "no" to her, she'd immediately kick her out of the Nightshade Family!
"Take back what you just said," Aurelia narrowed her dangerous eyes.
Sophie's heart leapt. Why was that gaze so terrifying?
To hide her inner fear, Sophie slammed the table and shouted angrily, "What kind of attitude is this? Is this how you speak to your mother-in-law? When Mason Nightshade comes back, I want him to see what a black-hearted woman his wife is and how she treats me!"
In the past, whenever Sophie mentioned Mason, Aurelia would immediately be afraid and admit her wrongs.
But now—Aurelia chuckled disdainfully, "If you love tattling so much, do as you wish. If there's nothing else, I'm heading out."
"What did you say?" Sophie hadn't expected Aurelia to react this way.
She stared blankly as Aurelia picked up her bag from the sofa, actually intending to leave.
Just then, Maid Li came out of the kitchen, carrying hot tea.
She'd heard someone say the madam was here and couldn't wait to come out, thinking, oh, now that the madam is here, that little bitch can't act so arrogantly.
Maid Li hurriedly walked over to Sophie, warmly greeting her, "Madam, you've arrived."
Sophie had no time to pay her any attention. This chapter first appeared on M|V|L^EMPYR.
"Where are you going? Did you not hear me talking to you? Aurelia, do you believe I can't kick you out of this house right now?" Seeing Aurelia's indifference infuriated Sophie to the point of losing her rationality.
Maid Li's eyes lit up.
She glanced back and forth between the two, quickly understanding the situation.
With a shared disdain, she put her hands on her hips, yelling at Aurelia, "The madam is talking to you, didn't you hear?"
Turning to Sophie, she complained softly while wiping her tears, "Madam, lately, the Young Madam has been putting on airs, not even showing respect for you. She also said she wanted to fire me. I've served alongside you for so many years; even if I don't have merits, I've worked hard and never been so wronged. You must stand up for me."
Maid Li was someone she had brought over. By not respecting Maid Li, Aurelia was not respecting her. Sophie was enraged. Before she could express her anger, she saw Aurelia suddenly turn around, her gaze sharp, and she grabbed the hot tea Maid Li was holding and threw it fiercely—
"Ah!" Sophie screamed in fear, staggering backward and falling onto the sofa, two-thirds of her soul scared away, her eyes wide and stunned, her face not yet feeling the burning sensation.
"Ah!"
Maid Li suddenly screamed, feeling a burning pain on her face, as if her skin was melting from a volcano burn. The scalding water ran down her hair and face, seeping into her clothes... "My face... my face hurts so much! Madam, what's wrong with my face? Why does it hurt so much?"
Maid Li didn't dare to imagine what had happened to her face. She held her face in her hands, wanting to touch but afraid to do so. Steam rose, dripping onto her damp hair, and her skin blistered like a tomato with peeled skin, wrinkled up like a fake face stuck to her.
She stretched out her hands, terrifying like a zombie, moving towards Sophie.
Sophie was so frightened she kept retreating, waving her arms, "Get away! Don't come any closer! Someone come quickly, drag her out!"
