Chapter 254: Chapter 254: Capable

Chapter 254: Capable

___

Finally, Aoki reached level 30!

Surprisingly, the upgrade process for the "Infinite Dragon Beast" was not as difficult as he had anticipated. It had taken him nearly a year of relentless battles against the "White Walkers," during which he killed almost all the powerful ones, just to reach level 20. In contrast, it only took three months for the Infinite Dragon Beast to reach level 30, and the process felt much simpler compared to the grueling fights with the White Walkers.

He could only conclude that the "Spirit of Vengeance" was simply too powerful, with tasks continuously pouring in to aid his progress.

After a few moments, Aoki's breathing slowly steadied. He gave it some thought and decided to activate the system to allocate his free attribute points.

With all attributes now exceeding 80 points, Aoki couldn't help but feel satisfied. The second ability, "Devouring," was finally in place, a skill that significantly boosted his attack power.

Clenching his fist, Aoki summoned a ball of lightning that exploded in his hand. Although he hadn't yet tested his abilities in combat, he was confident that he could now contend with some four-star-level opponents.

His increased strength stemmed from two primary factors.

The first was the "Ultimate Form."

Looking at the skill, Aoki's expression was a mix of joy and regret.

At Level 4, the "Ultimate Form" had reached its full potential: the power was completely unlocked, with no time or energy limits. He could transform at will and revert back whenever he wanted. This meant that the "Ultimate Form" had now become a regular ability.

However, the additional changes he had hoped for did not materialize.

"In this state, my strength isn't just at the weaker end of four stars; it should be at the level of a normal four-star," Aoki thought to himself.

The Level 4 "Ultimate Form" had indeed brought a significant boost to his power. Yet, by the time he reached level 40, the skill would become entirely obsolete, effectively leaving him without one of his abilities.

It was a trade-off he had to accept. The "Ultimate Form" had provided him with a powerful life-saving ability when he was weaker, but now he had to deal with its limitations as he grew stronger. There was no such thing as having all the benefits without any drawbacks.

The second factor that drastically enhanced his strength was the Thunder Fruit ability he had acquired through "Devouring."

After studying it for some time, Aoki's face lit up with surprise.

He had inherited almost all the powers of the Thunder Fruit, losing only two abilities.

The first was the ability to awaken. This, however, wasn't a flaw of the Thunder Fruit itself. As Aoki had speculated earlier, abilities gained through "Devouring" couldn't achieve awakening.

The second was the loss of the elemental body.

This drawback wasn't particularly significant. The primary purpose of elementalization was to render users of natural abilities nearly invincible against enemies lacking Armament Haki. However, in high-level battles, this advantage was less impactful.

Of course, in other worlds without Armament Haki, elementalization could still come in handy. Yet, abilities were ultimately influenced by power levels. Natural abilities, at best, were four-star powers. Against four-star or higher-level abilities, the elemental body's effectiveness would diminish.

By mastering two four-star professions, Aoki wouldn't need elementalization to dominate enemies at or below the four-star level. Similarly, it wouldn't make much difference against five-star or stronger opponents.

Moreover, Aoki had not entirely lost his elemental ability. He could still actively and temporarily transform into electric current to move at incredible speeds. The only limitation was that this transformation couldn't be sustained for long.

After analyzing his newfound strength, an idea struck Aoki. A golden fruit appeared in his hand. Its surface was adorned with spiral cloud patterns and lightning-shaped spikes, resembling a dragon fruit.

This was the Thunder Fruit.

Aoki hesitated for a moment.

The power of the Logia (natural) class was beyond question, and the Thunder Fruit stood as one of the finest among all Logia-type Devil Fruits. It was undoubtedly a Devil Fruit worth consuming.

More importantly, Aoki had already acquired part of the Thunder Fruit's power through "Devouring." If he were to eat the Thunder Fruit itself, could the combination of the two make him even stronger?

The thought was undeniably tempting.

After pondering for a moment, Aoki decided to put the Thunder Fruit away.

If he hadn't learned about Captain Jack's treasure, he might have eaten it immediately.

However, with a Human-Human Fruit—a mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit—within his reach, his priorities shifted.

Aoki glanced back at the system panel. There was still one reward he hadn't yet examined: the four-star treasure chest.

This was the first four-star treasure chest he had ever obtained.

"Logically, I should bathe and burn incense first," Aoki joked, a small smile tugging at his lips.

Still, he chose to open the treasure chest directly.

[Open a Revenge Chest (4 stars) and obtain a Devil Fruit (Thunder Fruit).]

Aoki: "?"

The fruit was golden, with spiral cloud patterns on its surface and lightning-shaped spikes.

Staring at the familiar Devil Fruit in his hand, Aoki fell silent. After a moment, he glanced into his dimensional storage space.

Another Thunder Fruit sat obediently on the shelf.

"Why is there another one?" Aoki muttered to himself.

Wasn't it supposed to be impossible for two identical Devil Fruits to exist simultaneously in the same world?

Well, the system clearly didn't adhere to conventional logic.

Aoki sighed, summing up his situation. This time, he had gained a total of three Thunder Fruits.

"That's a bit... excessive!"

Still, on closer reflection, it wasn't a bad outcome.

While he didn't know what other rewards the four-star treasure chest might have contained, the Thunder Fruit was undoubtedly a high-quality prize.

The only downside was that he couldn't use it right away.

It was his first time opening a four-star treasure chest, and while it was exciting, it wasn't entirely surprising. The experience left him with mixed feelings.

Aoki decided to open the remaining one-star treasure chests as well.

This time, luck was on his side. Among the four chests, he found a bag of special beef jerky.

Taking a bite, Aoki savored the spicy, fresh, and delicious flavor.

"After leveling up one more time, I can learn new skills. Should I go for Level 3 'Devour' or Level 2 'Dragon Breath'?"

He didn't dwell on the decision. That was something to consider after the next upgrade.

For now, there was something more pressing to address.

As Aoki pondered, a beautiful girl with long black hair appeared beside him.

Robin glanced around, her gaze briefly resting on the collapsed Lightning.

"Is it over?" she asked calmly.

Aoki nodded. "Yes. Now, no one will interrupt our treasure hunt."

"What's the plan?" Robin asked, her tone composed, showing no surprise at the outcome.

Despite the many rumors surrounding the Lightning of Los Silos, Robin had never doubted Aoki's victory. After spending countless days together, she had developed a clear understanding of his strength.

"Simple!" Aoki said with a confident smile.

"This place is much smaller than I expected, so there's no need to overcomplicate things."
