Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Level 20 and Thousand Illusion Mask
Chapter 209: Level 20 and Thousand Illusion Mask
____
Aoki took out the two bounties with the highest rewards and studied them carefully.
The first was "Gentleman" Moro, captain of the Gentleman Pirates, with a bounty of 90 million berries. Moro was a middle-aged man with a refined, handsome appearance and a somewhat weathered charm. He was also a skilled swordsman with a dignified demeanor.
However, beneath his polished facade lay a monstrous nature. Moro delighted in torturing women, having claimed the lives of over thirty victims—one of whom was a princess from a small country.
The second was "Python" Videl, captain of the Python Pirates, with a bounty of 80 million berries.
Videl embodied the stereotypical image of a pirate: tall, muscular, scarred, and menacing. He indulged in all the cruelties associated with piracy—pillaging, arson, and senseless murder.
In this world, pirates generally fell into two distinct categories.
The first resembled adventurers, like the Straw Hat Pirates, who donned the label of pirates but followed their own moral compass.
The second was made up of true pirates, like the Gentleman Pirates and the Python Pirates, who epitomized the violence and lawlessness the world feared.
Yet, regardless of their differences, both types of pirates transcended the concept of mere outlaws.
Many of the so-called "great pirates" were essentially warlords.
The Seven Warlords of the Sea and the Four Emperors controlled vast territories or even established nations.
Doflamingo and Hancock ruled their own kingdoms, while the BIG MOM Pirates created the Cake island, and the Beasts Pirates sought dominion over Wano. Even the Whitebeard Pirates and the Red Hair Pirates, though lacking formal nations, governed vast swaths of the seas.
In truth, these pirates were more akin to regional lords than traditional seafarers.
Aoki was about to put away the bounty posters when two system prompts echoed in his mind.
---
[Mission Acquired: Root Out the Evil]
"If you don't root out the grass, it will grow again in the spring breeze!"
Mission Requirements:
1. Kill Python Pirates Captain Videl.
2. Kill 3 Python Pirates cadres (0/3).
Mission Reward: 500 experience points.
---
[Mission Acquired: Captain Hunter]
"No captain's head can escape your claws."
Mission Requirements: Kill 5 pirate captains (0/5).
Mission Reward: 1000 experience points, 2 free skill points.
---
"Another mission, not bad," Aoki muttered, withdrawing his gaze from the posters.
The pirates in this region were clearly of lower caliber compared to those from other areas. Beyond the two with bounties of 80 and 90 million, the next highest bounty was only 50 million.
Still, there were several captains among them, and Aoki committed their faces and details to memory.
---
Nightfall
The Sabaody Archipelago remained lively, particularly in areas 1 through 29, where bars were packed with rowdy patrons.
At the Arsonist Bar, dim, flickering lights created a shadowy atmosphere, while the cacophony of voices filled the air.
On the main stage, four heavily made-up women danced provocatively, their every move drawing wild cheers and applause.
At one of the tables sat Videl and his crew.
"Boss, are we heading to the New World?" one of his crewmates asked.
"Why would we go to the New World?" Videl snapped, glaring at the man.
He sneered, "Have you heard the survival rate for reaching the New World? It's barely 30%! I don't understand why those fools risk their lives. Isn't it better to stay here? Money, women—we have everything we need!"
The others laughed and nodded in agreement as Videl continued, "But hey, the more idiots who leave, the better it is for us. Less competition!"
"Don't you want the legendary treasure?" someone else asked cautiously.
Videl scowled. "That so-called 'great treasure'? It's nothing more than a fairy tale to fool children! Money and women—those are the only treasures that matter!"
But as he finished, Videl's instincts flared. Something was off.
He turned sharply toward the man who had spoken, scrutinizing him. "Wait a minute—who the hell are you?"
The stranger stood confidently, his gaze sweeping across the table.
"Captain Videl of the Python Pirates, Vice Captain Ruslan, Combat Captain Andres, and Second Captain Raymond," Aoki said, naming each of them. "Did I get that right?"
Including Videl's crew, everyone in the Python Pirates slowly realized something was amiss.
"That's right. You know us very well. Now tell me—who are you, and what do you want?" Videl's hand subtly moved toward the pistol at his waist, his tone cautious but tense.
Aoki chuckled lightly. "Actually, I think you're right. How could some so-called great treasure bring any real benefits?"
As he spoke, his tail swung, and in the dim lighting of the bar, a hidden black bone blade shot forward, piercing Videl's heart with precision.

[You have killed a human. You gain 220 experience points and 1 Revenge Treasure Chest (two stars).]
---
Aoki's eyes lit up. "A two-star treasure chest? Not bad! But only 220 experience points for an 80-million bounty? The rate of experience gain is dropping fast. Good thing I have missions to offset that."
"You... you killed the boss?"
Videl's crew stared in disbelief, frozen for a moment before finally reacting.
"Get him!" someone shouted.
But before they could even draw their weapons, Aoki's figure blurred.
Puff, puff, puff!
Each pirate dropped to the ground, a clean hole in their foreheads.
Without sparing a glance at the chaos erupting in the Arsonist Bar, Aoki turned and disappeared into the night.
---
A short while later
In another bar, chaos had already unfolded.
"W-who are you?" Moro gasped, his voice weak. He raised his hand in an attempt to grab something—anything—but his arm fell limply to his side halfway through.
Moments earlier, the bar had been lively and boisterous. Now, it was eerily silent, the patrons stunned into stillness as they stared at the young man standing in the center of the room.
Moro, with a bounty of 90 million, was considered a major figure in the Sabaody Archipelago. Yet here he was, lying lifeless on the floor, killed by someone who seemed so unassuming.
---
[You have killed a human. You gain 350 experience points and 1 Revenge Treasure Chest (two stars).]
[Congratulations, you have leveled up! All attributes +5.]
---
"Double rewards! Not bad," Aoki murmured, feeling his aura surge as his strength grew.
Crash!
The bar's remaining patrons instinctively stepped back in unison, fear evident in their wide eyes.
The owner of the bar cautiously stepped forward, holding a thick stack of money and forcing a smile. "S-sir, please calm down. This is... a gift for you."
Aoki glanced at him, his expression unreadable. "You're Double Gun Will, aren't you?"
The bar owner stiffened. "I... I am. But why—"
Whoosh!
A black light flashed, and the bar owner crumpled to the floor, clutching his neck.
Crash!
The crowd collectively retreated further, pressing tightly against one another as they stared at Aoki in terror.
"An unexpected bonus," Aoki muttered before scanning the room one last time. Without another word, he turned and vanished, his movements swift and fluid. Moments later, he changed his appearance to ensure no one could track him.
---
System Menu
With a thought, Aoki opened the system interface. As always, he started by distributing his free attribute points.
Unlike his earlier days as a "White Walker," he now earned four free attribute points per level, which could be allocated to his four-dimensional attributes without concern.
Satisfied, he moved on to his skills. He had accumulated five skill points, which he immediately spent to unlock "Spirit of Vengeance."

---
[You opened a Revenge Chest (1-star) and gained 300,000 berries.]
[You opened a Revenge Chest (1-star) and gained 400,000 berries.]
…
By the time he finished, Aoki had opened all eight one-star treasure chests, earning a total of three million berries, a cowhide captain's hat, and a pistol.
No equipment or special food.
"Well, that's disappointing," Aoki sighed. "At least there's still the two-star treasure chests."
---
[You opened a Revenge Chest (2-star) and gained 10 million berries.]
Aoki's eye twitched. "...Seriously? That's not even as valuable as their bounties."
---
[You opened a Revenge Chest (2-star) and gained the Thousand Illusion Mask.]
