Paradise City Police Station

'The young miss of the Godlight Clan is asking for my release?' Diablo thought.

For a second he almost thought that this was a different type of novel! He knew very well that such a thing would never happen, especially with the existence of the villain's diary that appears before the heroines.

"Hey, you. Do you know her or something?" Captain Armstrife gave an accusatory stare to Diablo.

"I just got back to this damn city!" He replied, confused as much as she was.

"Why would you think that I've got anything to do with her?" Diablo looked at her as if she was out of her mind. 'Especially since it never happened in the original novel.'

But since adaptability was one of his special skills, he would use it to get used to whatever twists and turns this world would throw at him.

"Damn it! I don't even know why I'm asking you!" Captain Armstrife shook her head.

"Heh. Looks like rich folk here are like rich folk everywhere else," Diablo wryly chuckled. "Giving law-abiding citizens like us neverending trouble..."

Captain Armstrife gave Diablo an incredulous look. "Hey. You don't actually believe you're one of those 'law-abiding citizens', right?"

"I'm in here because some rich kid had a temper tantrum," Diablo said offhandedly, as if he didn't have any involvement in the previous scenario. "As far as I know, I'm a 'law-abiding citizen' too."

"What a smart mouth you've got..." Captain Armstrife sighed. But as she thought about it, she found herself agreeing with Diablo's words.

Not only did he just return to Paradise City, but he also got in trouble with the young master of the Godlight Clan. But the question still stands.

-Why would Lady Isabella want to release a troublemaker of that sort?

She didn't actually believe the story that Diablo served up to her earlier as she could feel that he was just making fun of young master Deus.

She might not have been the smartest, but she believed that she'd been trained just enough that she could spot that.

But all that together just made it make even less sense.

"Come to think about it..." She wondered if they wanted Diablo's release in order to get rid of him.

If so, then she wouldn't let Diablo out, as it would be against her best interests in keeping Paradise City safe.

"Well, I wouldn't know much about all of this rich folk and police business, but I think that you should probably be more careful around these parts," Diablo said, thinking back on the Deputy Chief's greasy face. "These fellas look like they have a lot of sway around here, so you never know what the people you work with might be up to..."

"That's up for me to decide." Captain Armstrife brushed Diablo's words off as if she paid them no heed. But internally, she was troubled as she mulled over his words.

'Wait a minute. Don't tell me that the page from that young master's actually true...?'

Captain Armstrife gave Diablo a smoldering glare as she leaned forward, her ample bosom resting on the interrogation room's table as a confused Diablo struggled not to stare at those two mountains for more than necessary.

'This guy's trying to warn me about something... Just like what that brat wrote down...'

Whether or not this Diablo guy was suspicious to her at the end of the day wasn't important to her in the slightest as he was just a civilian.

So no matter what future the young master was talking about, she refused to allow a civilian to get involved in official police business and potentially endanger themselves, even if it was to help her.

'After all, what's the point of becoming a law enforcement officer if civilians have to help themselves?' She thought. 'Though being at the whims of the rich like the Godlight's doesn't help my case whatsoever...'

"You don't have to worry about that, Mr. Malvado. As a member of law enforcement, such things won't be a problem in the near future." Captain Armstrife said.

'Come to think of it, other than that 'falling in love' bullshit that Deus Goldight's diary spoke about, this Diablo isn't too annoying of a person.' She thought.

"So when I say this, I wan't you to listen well, okay? When you get out of here tonight, I want you to stay out of trouble and away from any places that might be full of trouble, are we clear?"

Not hearing an answer she glared at Diablo, only to find his eyes stuck on her mounds, lost as he stared in a daze not being able to formulate any full sentences as his mind was preoccupied with something else.

"what the... it doesn't make sense... how...?"

"Ahem." She cleared her throat.

"seriously... what the hell did you eat... god damn..."

"Ahem!"

"Ah, yup, I got it..." Diablo was startled awake.

'This perverted brat...! You mean to tell me that I'd fall for some pervy guy like this!?' Captain Armstrife gnashed her teeth looking at the now coherent Diablo. "Well, do you have anything to say for yourself?"

"Well..."

"Well?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Well... Can I have something else to eat?" Diablo sheepishly asked. "I've been famished since I barely ate anything today, so..."

"..."

"..."

'On second thought, maybe he is a little annoying.' Captain Armstrife looked into Diablo's eyes before sighing once more.

"Get out."

Those were the last words he heard from her before getting kicked out of the police station.

'Damn. To think that I would get the law-obsessed justice freak Justitia Armstrife to kick me out of the police station...' Diablo chuckled. 'Most interactions with her would involve her trying to get the original Diablo in the police station...'

'But she's a good person deep down after all... After all, she even gave me a dozen of donuts!'

Standing in front of the police station, Diablo thought of his next moves.

What exactly did he want in this life?

Well, he wanted a nice life with some excitement in it of course!

He already lived a boring life working night and day, so why not live with rhyme and reason, like an idiot?

So what would it be? he could go to the Casino in the morning, gamble until he made a fortune, and then use that funds to open a company.

But managing a company would be an endless pain in the ass, especially when you want to enjoy being a degenerate rich piece of trash like the other young masters in this city.

Or he could join the ice-cold beauty of a CEO Anastasia's company.

Not as a security guard or janitor like in the original storyline, but as an investor or employee.

Then again. if she can hear the diary of Deus' heart. wouldn't she immediately fail me and kick me out the interview?

'Scratch that.' Diablo thought. 'I should think of something else.'

'What about the Godlight Clan? Wouldn't it be funny if I joined them?'

'Heh. I guess I should head home and plan for tomorrow then. But where exactly should I go?' Diablo thought. 'The original Malvado Mansion? Hah! It had already been turned to dust by outside forces that were his parent's enemies.'

'Maybe I should stop by wherever Eve lives...'

-Eve Malvados. The would-be adopted sister of the protagonist Diablo.

'The original backstory involving her was rather odd... Her parents being killed, Diablo's father adopting her to be an eventual bride for Diablo... Some sick shit.'

As cliches dictate, she was one of those 'not-related-by-blood' sisters who would be left behind to fend for herself while the protagonist was fighting for his life in foreign lands.

And when they eventually did reunite, they would get off on a somewhat rocky start until the protagonist helps her out and saves her a couple of times to get back into her good graces.

That is of course, in the original story.

In the villain novels, she would be left to rot and suffer by the protagonist obsessed with being lowkey until the young master saves her, and there conflict ensues between a jealous protagonist and villain.

'But even if we probably won't get along anymore, I still decided to help her out a bit.'

If she didn't want anything to do with him after hearing the young master's diary, then that was her decision. After realizing the kind of person young master Deus was, he had no doubt that the guy would hesitate to even touch her even if he had the chance.

'Oh yeah, didn't I tell her all about that via letters? I wonder how she'd react to that...' Diablo smiled wryly, fully aware of how he affected to plot of this world.

He told her about her true origins under the belief of 'rather her be an enemy now, than later', thinking that if she'd ended up hating him now it'd be better than him having to sit through hundreds of chapters of drama like the original Diablo.

'It might be an absolutely stupid thing to do, but this isn't the kind of story that needs a high IQ to navigate anyways.'

After being sent to this world and making his first amount of money from mercenary work, he made sure not to make her suffer like in the original novel where she struggled to pay for basic necessities while living in poverty.

So sending a portion of some funds over to her with letters detailing his situation and how he planned on returning one day was a common occurrence.

And although she in the beginning denied it, over the years he eventually got her to open up, putting her through college with his donations.

It was something that made him proud, especially since he was the poorest of the poor in his original life.

And as of now, he'd received a final letter, telling him to meet up with an address at the back of it.

'Seriously, that original Diablo. What a messy person.' Diablo's eyebrows knitted in frustration. 'Letting your so-called sister rot in poverty because you wanted to lie low and face-slap others is not a good look, man.'

'And if it weren't for young masters targeting her, he wouldn't have revealed a damn thing!'

-vroom-

As Diablo was lost in his thoughts, stewing in resentment, a sleek expensive black car passed by him.

Not only was it the familiar Deus Godlight, but he could see a beautiful woman with brown hair and eyes, with black-rimmed glasses on.

-It was the Young Miss of the Godlight Clan, Isabella Beau-Godlight.

When it came to this guy, Diablo thought that he wasn't as ruthless as he thought he would be.

And when Diablo thought about it again, he realized that Deus was not as ruthless as he thought he would be, especially if HE were the one to be transmigrated as the young master instead.

'Honestly, with all that power around me, I'd be a far worse person than I am now...' Diablo thought.

'But damn. What happened to him?' Diablo thought as he saw a sulking Deus grab his hair. 'He should be having the time of his life, with such pretty women and riches surrounding him...'

'Pah! Lucky bugger.'

The car made its way through the city as it eventually vanished from Diablo's eyesight. Shaking his head, he made his way to whichever place the address on the back of the letter he had was.

-

From Eve.

Meet me here.

Strata Blvd.

P.O. Box #1304

And after an hour, he eventually reached a gated community.

There were two guards standing at the gigantic electric gate, watching over the security of those who entered and exited.

"Damn. She's doing good for herself." Diablo whistled. Even if Eve wanted nothing to do with Diablo after the truth, he was sure that she'd at least allow him to crash at her house until he found a new place to stay at.

But as soon as he walked up to the security, the usual occurrences that he loathed happened.

"Hey, you! What are you doing here!?"

"Stop right there!"

Diablo looked at his clothes, frowning as he knew what was coming next. 'Damn, this suit is wrinkled and dirty...'

"I'm here to visit someone. Know a woman by the name of Eve? If so, can you call her?" Diablo said.

'Here comes my protagonist aura, and the consequences of it...' Diablo sighed.

Looking at Diablo, the sides of the two guard's mouth turned upwards. Diablo knew what was coming. After all, one cannot be truly a protagonist without going through at least one moment when they are despised and looked down upon.

"Heh. You aren't as clever as you think!" One guard sneered, looking at Diablo's wrinkled suit.

"Surely you're just another one of her suitors!" The other guard piped up.

"Not a suitor, bud. Just a visitor" Diablo lazily drawled. It seemed that his protagonist's aura was acting up again since his suit got dirty, drawing people to look down on him to get their faces slapped in return.

'It worked when I visited Valkryie Club, but I guess it just delayed the effect, huh?'

"Hey, listen. I'm not here to argue with you, alright? I'm a bit tired so I'll just wait here." Diablo waved his hands dismissively.

Diablo took out his smartphone as he ignored the guards' derisive smirks, when a red sportscar drove up to the driveway, stopping right in front of him.

'Alright, who's the wise guy with their lights blaring in my face' Diablo frowned at whoever was inside this sportscar. But as he saw the person in the driver's seat, his frown intensified.

'Ah, just great. Another young master.'

He could tell that this one would be more on the annoying side as he remembered this character from the novel as well.

The young master who exited the sportscar with an arrogant expression was one of the many simpering doglickers who were obsessed with one of the heroines, and would dedicate their entire lives and fortune to making the protagonist's life miserable just for being in their vicinity.

Naturally, they were just fodder and EXP for the protagonist, but that didn't make it any less sad.

"Is Miss Eve here?" The young master with an overly gelled pompadour asked with a comically oversized bouquet of roses in his hands.

"No Mr.Wernst! She's yet to come home!" The guards who previously seemed standoffish to Diablo spoke with an extremely servile tone as they bowed their heads so low that they almost touched the ground.

'Ahh. The switch-up. I shouldn't be surprised, but it's always funny to look at.' Diablo watched the ass-kissing ceremony as it all unfolded.

"Is that so...?" Young Master Wernst trailed off as his eyes finally registered Diablo's existence at his side. "And who is this guy?"

'Here we go again.' Diablo thought.

"Well, he's here for Miss Eve too, sir!" The guards replied sycophantically. 'Though we don't know why he's here to see her."

"Yup." Diablo butted in the conversation, introducing himself to the person who would probably return home thinking of ways to make his life harder. "Diablo Malvados. I'm a relative of hers."

Hearing this, the young master frowned even more, from what data he got about her, she had a relative who went overseas for a long time, but even so, he didn't like the idea of any man being around the woman he liked, regardless of relation.

'Almost there...' Diablo thought. He could practically see the gears and shifts turning in young master Wernst's head as he got ready to antagonize him because the goddess he obsessed over would come into contact with another man.

'And your next words are going to be 'And what is your relation with Eve?', isn't it?'

"And what is your relationship with Eve? Young Master Wernst demanded with a severe frown.

'Ah, and here it is.' Diablo chuckled. 'I really do have a working protagonist's aura.'

'Ah, such is life.'
