Chapter 152 - Perhaps We Came at a Bad Time

After sending the request for aid to the ghost-hunting squad, Qingque scurried back to Fu Zhu's side. Just as she was about to ask if he had any other methods, she saw that his expression was surprisingly awful, as if he had just eaten something particularly disgusting and was fighting the urge to vomit.

Qingque was instantly alarmed, fearing that Fu Zhu had also fallen for the Suiyang's insidious trick. She quickly grabbed his arm and started shaking him.

"Little Bro Fu Zhu! This is no time for you to get possessed too!"

Fu Zhu, feeling queasy, raised a hand to wipe his mouth. "Don't... don't shake me. I already wanted to puke..."

Qingque was confused. Hearing his reply, it seemed he hadn't been possessed, so why did he look like he was about to be sick? Could it be skiff-sickness?

"Little Bro Fu Zhu, what's wrong? If you're skiff-sick, I can take you to get some medicine."

"No..."

Fu Zhu shook his head, looking once more at the serenely smiling Fu Xuan, and felt another wave of nausea.

"I just realized I was confessed to by a genderless Suiyang using Fu Xuan's body. It's just... super weird and gross. I have to say, these Suiyang really have a knack for disgusting people."

Whether it was Rongju, Fierce Flame, or even Phantylia, their methods and actions were all incredibly devious and vile.

Compared to them, even Hulei, that high-quality prisoner locked in the deepest level of the Ten-Lords Commission, seemed downright adorable.

At least Hulei was all about curses and threats, never resorting to such disgusting acts.

Hearing that Fu Zhu was just grossed out by Fierce Flame's method of speaking, Qingque sighed in relief. As long as Little Bro Fu Zhu wasn't possessed, they were fine.

"So, Little Bro Fu Zhu, do you have any other good ideas?"

Fu Zhu stroked his chin and thought for a moment. He opened his inventory to look at its contents. Since milk was useless, then Potions of Weakness and Golden Apples were definitely out of the question.

If the opponent was a spiritual being like a Suiyang, he wondered if soul sand would be effective.

He wasn't sure, but he had to try. He couldn't just let a Suiyang continue to squat in Fu Xuan's body, could he?

"Fu Xuan, hold out your hand for a moment."

Fu Zhu deliberately avoided mentioning that she was possessed by Fierce Flame, instead calling her by her name directly.

Fu Xuan, or rather, Fierce Flame, was very cooperative and extended her hand, which Fu Zhu promptly grabbed.

"Fu Zhu?"

The possessed Fu Xuan tilted her head in confusion, not understanding why Fu Zhu was grabbing her wrist. It wasn't quite like holding hands.

Fu Zhu ignored her and slapped a block of soul sand onto the empty space between them. He then grabbed Fu Xuan's wrist and pressed her palm down onto the soul sand.

The moment Fu Xuan's palm touched the soul sand, her expression changed instantly. The smile vanished, and a shrill scream escaped her lips. The pitch was nothing like Fu Xuan's original voice.

Countless, slender spirit hands emerged from the soul sand and crawled up the hand Fu Xuan had pressed onto it.

A purple, flame-like sphere was gradually being extracted from Fu Xuan's palm. But as Fierce Flame was slowly being pulled from her body, Fu Xuan's own face contorted in pain.

"Human, it's useless! I have already achieved a high degree of fusion with Fu Xuan! She has completely accepted my philosophy! If you continue, you will only end up extracting both of our souls!"

Seeing this, Qingque grew worried and poked Fu Zhu's arm.

"Little Bro Fu Zhu, what do we do now?"

Fu Zhu let out an annoyed sigh and released his grip on Fu Xuan's wrist, allowing her to pull away from the soul sand's range.

"Brute force won't work. Looks like I'll have to use my words."

This Suiyang, Fierce Flame, was different from Rongju, whom he had encountered earlier. It was directly possessing Fu Xuan's body. The method he used to beat the daylights out of Yanqing was clearly not applicable here. That meant he could only use his mouth to refute Fierce Flame's so-called philosophy and get Fu Xuan to snap out of it herself.

Seeing Fu Zhu stop, Fierce Flame was not angered by his previous actions. Instead, it resumed its gentle and soft-spoken persuasion.

"Fu Zhu, why waste your time? A person's fate has always been a single path. No matter what choice you make, you will ultimately arrive at the same predetermined result. It would be better to join me sooner rather than later."

Fu Zhu glanced at 'Fu Xuan' and asked coolly, "Is that your idea? Fierce Flame's, or Fu Xuan's?"

'Fu Xuan' smiled and held out her right hand towards Fu Zhu. "These are my own heartfelt words. Join me sooner, save time, and let us peer into the even more distant future together. Isn't that wonderful?"

Fu Zhu didn't answer, but he now had a good idea of the situation.

Because of her previous divinations, Fu Xuan had already come to accept Fierce Flame's philosophy that fate is a single, predetermined path.

In that case, solving this problem became very simple.

He just had to find a way to negate Fierce Flame's philosophy that there is only one path, and make Fu Xuan understand that fate is not predetermined.

Fu Zhu quietly leaned closer to Qingque and whispered in her ear, "Qingque, play along with me in a moment."

"Okay."

Although she didn't know what her little bro Fu Zhu wanted her to do, for Fu Xuan's sake, Qingque readily agreed.

With Qingque's consent, Fu Zhu wrapped an arm around her, then pointed a cocky thumb at himself.

"Fu Xuan, I'm afraid your divination is going to be wrong. The object of my affection isn't you! It's Qingque!"

"Huh? Me?"

Qingque pointed at herself, bewildered, then timidly glanced at Fu Xuan. The serene smile on Fu Xuan's face instantly vanished. Her willow-like brows shot up as she glared at Qingque.

"Qingque, you!"

Qingque couldn't help but shiver. Although she was scared, that tone of voice was definitely the Great Diviner's! Little Bro Fu Zhu's method was actually working!

But in the next second, Fu Xuan reverted to her previous calm demeanor.

"Fu Zhu, why must you test fate like this? I have long since seen that you have not a shred of romantic feeling for Qingque. You are merely putting on an act of intimacy in front of me."

Fu Zhu's brow furrowed. Sure enough, choosing Qingque was too abrupt. Anyone with eyes could see he was just acting.

Just then, a group of people walked into the Divination Commission: Xing, March 7th, Sushang, Guinaifen, and Huohuo. They saw Fu Zhu with his arm around Qingque, facing off against Fu Xuan.

The five of them exchanged a look, and Xing couldn't help but blurt out.

"Did we come at a bad time?"

Hearing her voice, Fu Zhu turned and, confirming it was them, his face lit up with joy.

"No, you came at the perfect time!"

Fu Zhu immediately let go of Qingque, walked over to March 7th, took her hand, and pulled her in front of Fu Xuan.

"Fu Xuan, you can perform divinations, right? Why don't you try to divine what I'm about to say next?"

Xing's eyes scanned the scene, and her spirits instantly soared. She turned to Huohuo and excitedly held out her hand.

"Huohuo, did you bring any melon seeds?! I have a feeling there's a good show about to start!"
