Chapter 151 - Fu Xuan's OOC Personality
"Fated person? What do you mean?"
Fu Zhu was completely baffled, unable to understand what he had to do with this so-called "fated person."
On the other end of the line, Qingque didn't know how to explain it either. After fumbling for words in her mind for a good while, she ended up blurting out something else entirely.
"Little Bro Fu Zhu, I'll be waiting for you at the Divination Commission! Just hurry up and come see for yourself!"
With that, Qingque promptly hung up.
Fu Zhu stared at the disconnected call for a moment, then helplessly spat the toothpaste foam out of his mouth and took a couple of quick rinses.
"Might as well go take a look."
Fu Zhu was quite curious about what this whole "fated person" business had to do with him. Besides, Fu Xuan had helped him quite a bit before. Now that she was in trouble, it was only natural for him, as a friend, to go and check on her.
However, Fu Zhu didn't forget to message Jing Yuan on his phone about the situation with Fu Xuan, just in case a problem arose that he couldn't handle and required the General's assistance.
After washing up, Fu Zhu left the inn and took a skiff to the ferry stop near the Divination Commission. As he approached the main gate, he saw Qingque pacing back and forth anxiously outside.
"Qingque."
Fu Zhu raised a hand in greeting. Qingque immediately turned and scurried over to him.
Without a single word, Qingque grabbed Fu Zhu's arm and started dragging him inside the Divination Commission.
"Hey, hey, hey, what's the rush? It's not like Fu Xuan is in any mortal danger, is she?"
While pulling Fu Zhu along, Qingque lamented with a long face, "While I was waiting for you, little bro, the Great Diviner already gave me a warning! She said I was slacking off without reason and that she was going to punish me with book-copying!"
"Isn't that pretty normal? You are, in fact, supposed to be at your post right now. There's nothing wrong with her punishing you."
"That's not the point! Oh, whatever, you'll understand when you see the Great Diviner, little bro Fu Zhu!"
Qingque dragged Fu Zhu all the way through the main hall of the Divination Commission to the Matrix of Prescience. From a distance, they could see a pink figure standing before the matrix, head tilted up as if lost in thought.
Qingque led Fu Zhu to a spot four or five meters behind Fu Xuan before stopping. She then gave Fu Zhu a little push from behind, gesturing with her eyes for him to go and talk to her.
Fu Zhu shot Qingque a baffled look but followed her suggestion and walked over, calling out Fu Xuan's name.
"Fu Xuan, I heard from Qingque that you haven't been feeling well lately?"
Hearing Fu Zhu's voice, the figure's shoulders trembled. She turned around, her face flushed like a peach blossom, and beamed a smile at Fu Zhu.
"Fu Zhu, you're here! It's just as fate foretold. No matter the process, the outcome remains the same. Even if I don't seek you out, you will come and find me."
"What do you mean?"
Fu Zhu was completely lost, having no idea what Fu Xuan was talking about. All this talk of fate and prophecies was making his head spin.
"Fu Xuan, could you be a bit clearer? I just woke up, and my brain's still a little foggy."
Fu Xuan smiled and stepped forward, taking Fu Zhu's right hand in both of hers. "You are my fated person. It is our destiny to spend the rest of our days together. You see, isn't fate wondrous? I haven't contacted you at all these past few days, yet you still came to find me on your own."
For some reason, Fu Zhu couldn't help but shiver. Goosebumps erupted on his arms. The Fu Xuan before him was ninety, no, one hundred percent not right in the head!
"Hold on a second."
Fu Zhu tried to pull his hands free from Fu Xuan's grasp, but a slight tug revealed he couldn't break free. He had to apply a bit more force to finally succeed. He then immediately scurried back to the side of an equally shivering Qingque.
"Qingque, this Fu Xuan is really not right!"
Qingque nodded vigorously, giving Fu Zhu an "I finally got you to believe me" look. "Of course she's not right! The Great Diviner always used to refer to herself as 'this one,' but now she's just saying 'I'! And her personality is completely different from the usual Great Diviner! Although, when you first logged into the Luofu, little bro, the Great Diviner did make a prophecy about you. She was a little proactive back then, but as soon as you left, she was muttering to herself, complaining about why she had been so forward..."
"Little Bro Fu Zhu, do you think the Great Diviner's brain is broken? I remember you can even cure the Mara-struck. Little Bro Fu Zhu, quick, use your invincible milk and think of something!"
"I'll try..."
Fu Zhu couldn't make any promises, but he took a bucket of milk from his inventory and walked back over to Fu Xuan, holding it out to her.
"Fu Xuan, you came to work so early, you probably haven't had breakfast, right? Why don't you have some milk to tide you over?"
Fu Xuan reached out with both hands to accept the milk Fu Zhu offered, smiling sweetly at him. "Thank you, Fu Zhu. I didn't think you'd be so concerned about me."
That smile made Fu Zhu shiver again. This was so not right!
In front of Fu Zhu, Fu Xuan lifted the milk bucket and slowly drank every last drop. After downing such a large quantity of milk, her small belly could be seen visibly protruding.
Qingque watched nervously as Fu Xuan finished the milk, then scurried over to Fu Zhu's side and whispered, "How is it? Little Bro Fu Zhu, is the Great Diviner's illness cured?"
Fu Zhu didn't answer. Instead, he stared intently at Fu Xuan, then opened his minimap to look at her icon.
It was still the friendly green marker, but her name was slightly different.
[Divination Commission's Great Diviner · Fu Xuan (Suiyang · Fierce Flame)]
Having been attacked by Suiyang twice before, Fu Zhu instantly understood the situation the moment he saw the change in Fu Xuan's name.
"Qingque, I know what's wrong with Fu Xuan now. She's been possessed by a Suiyang. I'm afraid my milk won't work on her."
Qingque was baffled. She had often heard Fu Xuan talk about how miraculous the items Fu Zhu had were. "Huh? Even your invincible milk won't work, little bro Fu Zhu?"
Fu Zhu nodded. Milk could clear all debuffs, but only temporary ones. Against a constantly refreshing, permanent debuff, milk could only offer a moment's respite.
And this kind of Suiyang possession probably didn't even count as a debuff, making the milk even less likely to be effective.
Hearing that even Fu Zhu had no solution, Qingque's heart sank with disappointment. But she couldn't just give up on the Great Diviner like this. The Divination Commission still needed her to hold down the fort!
Otherwise, which department would she go to to slack off in the future!
And so, Qingque took out her phone, preparing to call for some outside help. Since Little Bro Fu Zhu said the Great Diviner was possessed by a Suiyang, then she should call the ghost-hunting squad that had recently become famous online.
She remembered that the squad had Little Bro Fu Zhu's sister and another one of his companions. Perhaps, as fellow Nameless, they might have some other good solution!
PS: The Luofu arc is ending soon. After this will be the Simulated MC plot and the Jarilo-VI plot.
