This Danzo Is Weird!

In the southern region of the Land of Fire, within the temporary camp of the retreating Konoha forces:

Danzo's roar startled everyone in the room.

Mitokado Homura's face turned sour. While Danzo's words were true, he was still a senior advisor to Konoha. To be reprimanded so harshly in front of everyone was a severe blow to his dignity.

"Danzo, don't forget that I sent a thousand ninjas to support you!" Homura retorted angrily.

The implication was clear: if not for the reinforcements sent to defend Kikyo Mountain, his frontline wouldn't have collapsed so quickly.

Danzo scoffed in response.

"Are you sure you sent reinforcements to support us? Or did you just hand over a gift to Sunagakure and Kumogakure so they could focus on attacking Kikyo Mountain?"

Homura was left speechless. Everyone knew that the reinforcements he sent had been surrounded, a major blunder on his part as commander.

Danzo wasn't finished. After reprimanding Homura, he swept his gaze across the room, addressing all the Jōnin present:

"From now on, I am assuming command from Mitokado Homura. Everyone, prepare yourselves immediately. We are launching a counteroffensive against Kirigakure!"

The Jōnin exchanged shocked glances, unable to hide their astonishment.

A power grab!

This was an open seizure of command!

Of course, Homura could not accept this.

Disregarding any pretense of camaraderie, he shouted, "Enough, Danzo! I am the commander of this warfront! What gives you the right to interfere with my troops?"

These words seemed to trigger something deep within Danzo. His fists clenched as if driven by sheer instinct.

"What gives me the right?"

Danzo took a deep breath and pulled a sealing scroll from his pocket. With a sharp tug, he activated it.

"This gives me the right!"

A burst of smoke filled the room, and when it cleared, six swords stood planted in the center of the meeting room.

"Those are… the Seven Ninja Swordsmen's weapons!"

The Jōnin present immediately recognized the six blades. For most of them, these weapons represented painful memories of defeat at the hands of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.

Even Homura was stunned. He stared in disbelief and demanded, "Why are those swords here?"

Danzo smirked coldly. He then unsealed five corpses—the bodies of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen—and said disdainfully, "Not everyone gets trampled by Kirigakure the way you do."

Without sparing another glance at the terrified Homura, Danzo slammed his hand on the table.

"Listen well: the Seven Ninja Swordsmen are no more!"

"All of you, prepare for battle immediately!"

"Any consequences from this operation will be borne by me, Shimura Danzo, alone!"
