There is something wrong with Hikigaya’s classroom of the Elite, as expected

Chapter 45

Chapter 45: A Blade’s Critical Strike

Chabashira Sae. This was the first time Hikigaya Hachiman realized that she actually had such a dark sense of humor.

She had given off a cold, indifferent first impression, but unexpectedly, she also had this sarcastic and biting side. However, this also showed that Chabashira-sensei had been completely disgusted by the students of this class and could no longer tolerate them.

But was this really okay?

If the previous remarks were a way for Chabashira to vent her accumulated frustration and anger, Hachiman could understand that, but continuing to ridicule and suppress the students—wasn’t she worried that some students who were ready to turn over a new leaf might completely give up?

Furthermore, it wasn’t just about verbal provocation and suppression. There was something even more important that Chabashira-sensei had still not revealed.

Something worse than the lack of personal points being credited.

Though Hirata was also heavily impacted by Chabashira’s words, he quickly regained his composure, looked at the numbers on the poster, and asked, “Sensei, I know that everyone has been performing very poorly during this time, and as the leader of the class, I also bear a significant responsibility. I apologize for that.

And if, as you say, the rules of the school apply equally to all students, then why is there such a big gap between the classes? Some classes only had 60 points deducted—how is that fair? Could there be other factors that we don’t know about that affected the results?”

Hachiman had to admire Hirata; even when at such a disadvantage, he managed to find a potential loophole, trying to lessen the damage as much as possible.

But, unfortunately…

Hachiman sighed inwardly.

“Hirata, your idea is not bad.” Chabashira-sensei looked at Hirata coldly, then glanced around the whole class of students. “But you still haven’t understood why you were placed in this class.”

Hirata froze in place, and many students wore expressions of shock as well. However, there were a few quick thinkers, like Horikita, who, based on everything they had seen so far combined with what Chabashira just said, had already vaguely guessed a truth she didn’t want to know.

“Why, under a fair and just system, is there such a big gap between the classes? The reason is simple. This school assigns classes based on student excellence. Class A is for the best students. Naturally… you, who are in Class D, are the worst students. And the reality has already proven this.”

When Chabashira-sensei finished speaking, the whole classroom fell into a weird silence. Everyone’s face was full of astonishment and confusion.

Chabashira’s words meant that their class, Class D, was made up of the worst students. This was something that any normal student would find hard to accept. No one wanted to be ranked the lowest, and no one wanted to be looked down upon!

The cold, indifferent Horikita, who had been calculating the possible gains and losses of the class points, heard this and the pen she had been holding fell with a loud “thud” onto the desk, then rolled to the floor, the nib broken.

In the entire classroom, there was probably only one person who could calmly and even willingly accept being told that they were the worst student: Hachiman Hikigaya. He didn’t even flinch at the remark.

If he wasn’t the “worst student,” then Sensei would not have been here in the first place, and she wouldn’t have been dragged into it because of him…

Was Chabashira-sensei wrong?

No, she was absolutely right!

Hachiman fully agreed with her. Class D was the worst class because it contained the worst students. Just look at Ike and Yamauchi over there. These two monkeys had no shame whatsoever. They even acted as if they were saying, “Oh, now we get it,” and accepted it naturally.

“Of course, compared to the other classes, you guys are completely inferior. But if you compare yourselves to past Classes D, there’s still something praiseworthy about you.”

Chabashira’s tone was cold. Hachiman felt like she was about to continue “twisting the knife,” and sure enough, she did.

“That is, you are the strongest Class D in history. Only you guys could manage to waste all the class points in the first month of school! Amazing! Truly amazing! You will definitely go down in the school’s history, and later students will come to ‘admire’ your amusingly pathetic record!”

After saying that, Chabashira-sensei started clapping her hands to herself. The quiet classroom only had her applause echoing, but to the students, it felt like they were being slapped repeatedly.

It felt… so satisfying!

Although it wasn’t moral, Hachiman couldn’t help but feel a sense of schadenfreude. After all, for the past month, he had often been “bullied,” rejected by the small groups, receiving sneers from the girls, and being mocked by the monkeys!

Even now, that brainless monkey Yamauchi was still loudly calling out Hachiman’s name!

Of course… Chabashira-sensei’s sense of revenge was quite heavy. Hachiman began to wonder if she had prepared an “unforgivable notebook” just to take advantage of this moment to vent her frustrations!

It seemed that in the future, he would need to avoid provoking her. A woman at her age, still single, probably often going on arranged dates—she was far too terrifying for someone like Hachiman!

“Damn it! Are we just supposed to be looked down upon by the students from the other classes?!” As expected of the fiery youth, Sudo kicked the desk, making a loud noise.

“Heh, so you guys care about face too, huh?”

Chabashira-sensei looked at the D class students coldly, “I thought you guys didn’t care about your faces. Well, there’s one more thing I forgot to tell you all: class points are not only tied to the personal points awarded each month. They also determine the ranking of the classes. This means that if your class points were 500, you could rise from D to C class.”

“So, if you guys realize the importance of ‘following student norms and discipline,’ perhaps you could have already moved up to C class or even B class, thus shedding the title of ‘worst students.’ Tsk, tsk… what a pity!”

Chabashira-sensei could have skipped the latter half of her statement.

That was the first reaction from many students, including Hirata. After Chabashira-sensei finished, many students couldn’t help but let out wails.

“Such a dark sense of humor!”

Hachiman strongly suspected that Chabashira-sensei was intentionally getting back at Hirata for his earlier “If” comment. The most painful thing wasn’t never having had it, but having had it and losing it.

The most useless thing in the world was the “if” after the fact—the regret after something ended.

“But for you guys, whether it’s D, C, or B class, it’s all just meaningless things.”

Chabashira-sensei mocked, “Because in this school, where the employment rate and university acceptance rate are 100%, only the best students can enjoy this privilege. Do you understand what I mean? This means that, except for the students in Class A, the students in the other classes cannot enjoy this special privilege!”

“Eh?!”

Chabashira Sae had, so far, delivered a string of biting words, each one a critical strike!

Hello everyone! I’m VarieTL. I hope you are enjoing my work! I only wanted to say that I have started another Fanfiction about Hachiman In the classroom of the Elite!
you can read the Synopsis here:

After being hospitalized for three weeks due to a car accident, Hikigaya Hachiman thought he had missed his chance to integrate into his class.

However, the principal handed him a special recommendation letter.

It suggested that he enroll in Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, which started its academic year in May.

Determined not to be isolated and pressured by his younger sister to make friends, Hachiman took the plunge.

And so, he finally gained friends.

Karuizawa Kei: “Well, since you’re my ‘host,’ it’s only natural for us to interact more, right?”

Sakayanagi Arisu: “You seem troubled by your ordinariness. I have a reliable plan to ensure the next generation is nothing short of genius.”

Horikita Suzune: “I tried making a bento yesterday… If you don’t mind, would you like to have it?”

Kushida Kikyo: “Now that I know so many of your secrets, and you’ve grasped mine, it looks like we’re stuck together.”

And then—

Komachi: “…Onii-chan, this doesn’t sound like friendship at all!”
