the way i love you

Chapter 6: CHAPTER 06: "A friend?"

CHRISTIAN POV:

in the heart of bustling Milan, amidst the sleek skyscrapers and winding cobblestone streets, a figure stood at the tallest building of the city that embodied a fusion of cultures and business acumen. His name was Christian Romano a man of Italian-Chinese descent, with chiseled features that spoke of both the romanticism of Rome and the enigmatic allure of Beijing.

Standing tall with an air of confidence, Christian icy demeanor that belied his warm Mediterranean charm. His piercing hazel green eyes, framed by jet-black hair, held a depth that hinted at a wealth of experiences and secrets.

Clad in impeccably tailored suits that seamlessly blended Italian craftsmanship with a hint of Chinese silk, Christian commanded attention wherever he went. His style was a reflection of his dual identity — sophisticated yet with a subtle hint of mystery.

"Do, I have to remind you?" I looked at all of the higher-ups and managers. It's been 1 month since we weren't able to crack the deal with San Francisco. That mysterious CEO's demanding is a pain in my ass. My cold voice echoed in the room "BY TOMORROW MORNING I WANT COMPLETE NEW DRAFTS" My phone started buzzing.

I looked at my phone with amusement and received the call "Yes?" for the first time Louis called me instead of texting me.

"Brother, I am in the hospital!!!" my blood turned cold with my narrowed eyes I asked him coldly "WHERE ARE YOU?" at the same time everyone in the meeting room looked at me with fear in their eyes. Louis softly replied "I don't know but somewhere outskirts of the main city"

"Come quickly brother, I got into fight and my sworn brother is injured because of me" with pause I replied to him "OK" and then he hung up.

Kate looked at me and within a second of eye contact, he started working on his laptop, and a series of codes flooded into his screen. he hacked into Louis's GPS location. it showed a small hospital on the outskirts of Como. with that, I looked at the meeting room and a cold voice echoed in the meeting room

"MEETING ADOURGENT"

Kate followed me out and called Zoris {zoris is the security head of Romano and Co.} Kate strides towards the executive floor elevator and took me from fifteenth floor down within 30 seconds.

When I reached the ground floor Zoris teams A, B, and C were already standing there in line.

I looked at them and said "TEAM A follow me, TEAM B find out which gang is behind Louis's incident, TEAM C follow Mom and Dad, be their shadow guard, and don't let them know you were following them"

A group of men in all-black uniforms replied in unison "UNDERSTOOD SIR"

Kate and Zoris followed towards the black car and MR.LUO {trained and most trusted driver of Romano family} already waiting for us. I checked my watch and it's already evening past seven. Kate started reporting to me the situation around Louis.

Kate looked at me and said "According to the report Louis last went to the hotel room but he didn't register his data instead he used his fake allies which recorded in hotel data, he even avoided surveillance cameras, and even his phone's last GPS location didn't show around hotel area. There are some glitches in the hotel management system. Probably original data deleted by a rival gang." I just hummed with his report.

Mr. LUO only took forty-five minutes to cover a 2-hour distance ride. He parked the cars in the small parking lot of the hospital. when he is about to open the door. I saw someone whom I didn't expect to see here.

Yeah, I am talking about Lina. There is something different about her aura and her looks. Lina didn't even notice my car. Lina hurriedly started her sports car and drove away.

Kate who was beside me coughed twice and said "Christian, I too saw her, but for now let's go inside."

I glared at him and got outside of the car.

I stepped through the sterile halls of the hospital, my footsteps echoing hollowly against the linoleum floors. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to flicker with every beat of my heart, casting eerie shadows along the walls. I had received a call from him an hour ago.

At the reception, Kate's gentle voice inquired about Louis's ward while Zoris's vigilant eyes scanned the surroundings, ever watchful for any potential threat. The receptionist, a young woman with tired eyes, directed us to the designated floor where Louis was being treated.

As I approached his room, a sense of foreboding gripped me tighter with each step. Kate and Zoris stood outside the room to watch.

Pushing open the door, I was met with the sight of Louis lying on the hospital bed, his face pale and drawn, but his eyes bright with mischief as always. Despite the bandages wrapped around his torso, he still managed to muster a playful smile, as if daring me to remain cold and distant.

I couldn't help but feel a surge of anger rising within me as I took in the sight of my brother, bruised and broken from the ordeal he had endured. Anger at myself for not being able to protect him, anger at those who had dared to lay a hand on him, and anger at the world for being so cruel.

Louis' smile faltered for a moment as he caught the dangerous glint in my eyes, but then he chuckled softly as if he found my reaction amusing.

"Hey there, big brother," he greeted, his voice strained but filled with warmth.

"I bet I look pretty rough, huh?" His words only served to fuel the fire raging within me, but I forced myself to take a deep breath, to rein in the darkness threatening to consume me.

"Sorry to ruin your day with this little inconvenience." I clench my jaw, struggling to maintain my composure. I wanted to lash out, to demand answers, to make those responsible pay for what they had done.

"Yeah, you look like you've been through hell," I replied, his tone gruff but laced with concern.

But as I met Louis' gaze, Despite the pain etched into his features. Louis radiated an undeniable warmth that thawed even the coldest corners of anyone's heart.

"Louis," I said through gritted teeth, my voice cold and clipped. "How did it happen?"

At that moment, something shifted inside me. The anger that had consumed me moments before began to dissipate, replaced by a fierce protectiveness for my brother. I may not have shown it often, but Louis was family, and I would do whatever it took to keep him safe.

he replied, his tone casual. "Just a little mishap, nothing I couldn't handle."

I narrowed my eyes, seeing through his facade. "Handle?" I echoed, my voice laced with incredulity. "You were kidnapped, Louis. This is not something to be taken lightly."

Louis shrugged nonchalantly, but I could sense the tension beneath his bravado. There was something he was not telling me, something he was trying to hide.

"I had some help," he admitted finally, his gaze flickering away from mine. "A friend got me out of there."

"A friend?" I repeated, my tone skeptical. "Who is this friend, Louis? I want a name."

Louis hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features before he masked it with a smirk. "Oh, just someone I met in Abbandon's ghost town," he deflected, his tone casual.

Abbandon's ghost town. The very mention of that forsaken place sent a shiver down my spine. It was a lawless territory, a breeding ground for danger and deception.

"And why," I demanded, my voice cold as ice, "did this friend not bring you directly to safety?"

Louis shifted uncomfortably under my gaze, his playful facade crumbling ever so slightly. "We... had to lay low," he replied evasively. "For safety purposes."

I could sense the truth eluding me, slipping through my fingers like grains of sand. Louis was hiding something, something he deemed too dangerous for me to know.

My curiosity was piqued at the mention of this mysterious ally.

I narrowed my eyes at his evasive response, sensing there was more to the story than he was letting on. "Louis, I need to know who helped you. For your safety and ours."

He sighed, relenting under my scrutiny. "Fine, Christian. His name is Rhys. But he's not exactly the type to socialize with the Romano family."

I filed away the name for future reference, making a mental note to investigate this mysterious ally further. "Very well, Louis. We'll discuss this further once you've recovered. For now, focus on getting better."

Louis nodded in agreement, his playful demeanor returning as he flashed me a mischievous grin. "And maybe consider transferring us to the family's private hospital for added security?"

I couldn't help but smirk at his audacity, a sense of pride swelling within me at his resourcefulness. "We'll see what can be arranged, little brother. Rest up for now."

As I turned to leave the room, my mind already buzzing with plans and strategies, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Louis's ordeal than met the eye.
