Chapter 7: Chapter 6
I was ordered to take the mandatory vacation time and tried to find a transport that takes a scenic route to the mountains. The fastest transport was called Kosuko. It moves at the speed of light. But at the last minute I decided that my ship was adequate transport. So I took it out for a spin and almost got myself arrested twice. I didn't know that there are no fly zone and space lanes. The officer was lenient since I am new to the planet. Had I been a seasoned citizen I would be facing serious jail time. I simply went towards the moon and followed the natural rotation of the planet. When the scanner confirmed that I was now hovering above the Yamabito mountain ranges. I slowly lowered making sure not to land on any uneven surface as it could damage my baby. The locals came with an air curiosity. I happily asked if there were any places I can stay like an inn. I was directed towards the eastern regions to an inn called Hanamchi. I was given a room on the top floor. The view was amazing. It looked like the paint Granny had painted when I was very young. I got it as a birthday after mom and dad died. It hung on my ceiling and I would stare at it till I fell asleep. I was concerned that if anyone that I was born to a Nin then I am as good as dead. As data went by I came to realize that this place was an architectural marvel. As the air was moderate to enjoyable the screens covering the windows were opened. But as it got hot and unbearable they would open a chute that circulated the air and cool it down before it reached the residential area. When it became cold and bitter they lit fire and circulated warm water through pipes.
As I walked from the path from the historical sites depicting the village lifestyle. I saw a few curious individuals. They were chatting amongst one another and paused at the sight of me. I politely bowed as a sight of respect and they bowed back. I walked back to my room and was changing my outfit and walked out. My dress caught on an ornament ripped in the back. A young girl was walking by. She saw my tattoo and started asking questions. I told her that it was Akuma my grandmother's family crest. My grandmother is from here and I am here to learn and understand. She asked me her name. I remember pestering her till she told me it was Tsurugi Akira. I told her about my parents death and she raised me single handedly. I was homeschooled so she gave me some training as a Nin but she said that I had to show her responsibility before she fully trained me. I loved her very much till I was forced to be conscripted to the army. I chose to be neutral so I was trained as a medic. She listened and thanked me before she went back to her chores. As I made my way to the dining hall the young girl asked me if I had an image of her so I showed her an album filled with pictures. She stared at them with interest and directed me to the theater as dinner was going to be served there. I was served local delicacies as men and women in masks and exotic outfits performed. After dinner an elderly lady requested my presence. She took a drop of my blood and ran some tests. I had heard that some sort of virus was running rampant so everyone was taking precautions. She took a deep breath and said that I am as I claim a quarter Nin. I was the great granddaughter of Arashi the deadliest Nin that ever lived.
I happily bowed and walked out of the room. I sat down to enjoy the last of Gharqa. I felt a movement and I felt the air vibrate as something sliced through the air towards me. I laid flat on my back till these unknown flying objects of death was well past me. I waited till these beings were close enough before I shot flames out of my fingertips. After a few got blistered the others had no choice but to leave. At least they tried. I may have said being neutral in the army but that doesn't mean I am neutral in real life. I happily enjoyed every gift I gave I explored the full extent. So I used air to push them back in. I wiggled my fingers and water rose from the fountain below. I playfully swished the water from side to side before I used it to slice their weapons to pieces. Then I happily pushed them to the ground floor and sunk them to the stone floor till they were trapped from the neck down. I asked them what possessed them to attack. I made it clear that if they value their honor or life they had better leave me alone. I went upstairs to see that the burnt ones were screaming for mercy. I used mud to heal them and sumk them to the stone floor as well. I went to sleep and woke up to find myself in a completely different room. It was painted with different types of monsters forming an army to attack a group of people. The one in the lead was waving a folded semicircular object and he had a tapered hat on. Also he was flying on a cloud. As I admired the view the doors slid open. I turned around and bowed to show respect. An elderly man much shorter than me walked in and he bowed too. I asked him who he was and he showed me his wrist. I realized that this old man is my great grandfather.
He asked me if I had a pleasant night. I said I did. He asked me about her and I told him as much as possible. He was smiling at me for some reason. I asked him and he said that assassins from the rival clan Hataki komi were angry that the attempted murder was a failure. I explained my abilities. I explained that when an Arcanon becomes pregnant the government injects several doses of unknown substance into the foetus. This gives them the ability to manipulate the elements. But everyone but me has the ability to use only one. I can manipulate all four elements with ease. I have been training since I was three. Grandpa wanted to see so I shot fifty foot flames out of my fingertips. Then I lifted a rock and smoothed the rough edges before cracking it to pieces and forming them into daggers. Then I restored the rock into its original form and used water to cut down a branch. Then I manipulated the air to make it colder. He gave a round of applause and directed me towards the dining area for breakfast. It was a huge hall and there were men and women seated on the floor. They all gave me a nod of acknowledgement before enjoying their meal.
As I got up to walk off the fatigue I got a notification that my vacation was up so I am expected to show up by the end of the week. I happily thanked him as I tried to pack my belongings to go home. As I stepped out I was told that I wasn't allowed to leave the mountains. I told him that I am a government employee. I have to go or I will be in trouble. I promised to keep the existence of this place a secret but unfortunately I have to go. I promised to come back but like I said a stern faced man blocked my path. I used earth and sank through the stone and kept going till I reached the ground floor. Then I calmly walked towards my ship. There were Nins hiding in trees. I simply waved my hand to use the wind and knocked them off their stations. I sank into the river and used the current to take me to my destination. I got out of the water bone dry. I happily boarded my ship and got back to the capital city called Ikigai. It is the heart of the planet and home to the emperor. The hub of education and integration of traditional values and modern sciences. Some are seen in traditional clothes while others are seen wearing modern clothes and others wear clothes that are straight out of illustrations. I am amazed at the biodiversity. On my day off I would walk from end to end and still in awe. The warm welcome and polite respectful gesture is a rarity elsewhere. I reached my parking space and got to my apartment. I saw my cleaning bot was hard at work. It had made sure that my place looked brand new. The thing wasn't cheap but worth the amount I transferred.
