Chapter 13
Chapter 13 – The Turning Point Under Dark Demon’s Foot
On Friday, the classes were very relaxed, with only one duel class in the morning.
Starting from noon until Sunday midnight, the passage to Traveler’s Street would open, and then close again.
During this time, every student at the academy could freely enter and exit Traveler’s Street.
Not just the freshmen who had just received permission, but even the seniors who had been cooped up in the castle for a whole week rushed out in droves.
Although St. Maryan provided various essential living supplies for free, everything else needed to be purchased from Traveler’s Street.
Students could use their credits for any consumption they desired.
From all sorts of bizarre candies and toys, to beautiful clothes and jewelry, even cute dolls were available.
Of course, there were also plenty of magic potions, as well as other materials required for crafting magic cards.
The professors assigned the seniors some homework that would take a week or even a month to complete.
The materials for these assignments had to be bought by the students themselves.
In addition, some students would craft their own magic potions, items, and semi-finished magic cards, selling them in stalls on Traveler’s Street.
Seniors who were allowed into the dungeon could hunt monsters and gather materials, selling them to the merchants on Traveler’s Street.
Merchants would pay with credits as well.
In Traveler’s Street, one credit was worth sixteen sacred coins, and this exchange rate fluctuated with market changes.
Freshmen who had just started school didn’t know yet that each lesson only required attentive listening to earn virtual tokens worth 160 sacred coins!
Calculating twelve lessons per week, this equated to a monthly income standard of 7,680 sacred coins!
And today, Traveler’s Street would give some students who did not take their classes seriously a strong reminder!
…
“Dark, want to go together?”
“No, I have something to do today.”
“Then I’ll go with Lolol first. I heard there’s an interesting candy shop in Traveler’s Street; I’ve wanted to check it out for a long time!”
Diana hurriedly grabbed Rose’s arm and charged out.
Dark shook his head; he had a very clear purpose today.
Before heading to Traveler’s Street, he took out a notebook from his bag and carefully reviewed the various items listed inside.
[Vampire Fang: A vampire’s fang, which, when inserted into a vein, can make someone calm, but the side effect is extreme bliss after being drained.]
[Humble Gift: A nobleman’s hat from the demon world, which makes even the rudest person polite upon wearing it, but causes rage upon removal.]
[Ocean’s Tear: A mermaid’s tear, boiled into a potion that has slimming effects, but actually induces anorexia.]
[Margaret’s Red Dancing Shoes: The witch Margaret’s dancing shoes, which allow the wearer to dance perfectly, but cannot be taken off.]
[Catherine’s Poisoned Apple: An apple grown in the royal garden by Queen Catherine, which absorbs jealousy and turns it into a deadly poison causing eternal sleep, only awakened by a kiss full of love.]
[Greed’s Gold Coin: A gold coin that inherits Greed’s will, making its holder extremely stingy and greedy, valuing money above all else.]
[Voodoo Doll: A cursed doll made from intense jealousy, which causes immense pain when pricked.]
[Banished Desire Pot: Absorbs desire, leaving one in a state of apathy, but losing the ability to think.]
[Starry Ring: A ring from a great mage, allowing one to glimpse the universe and feel insignificant, even leading to fear and collapse.]
[Nightmare Worm: Can burrow into dreams to extract human desires, but leaves a hole in the brain.]
[Mana Dropper: Extracts small amounts of brain matter including emotions, desires, and knowledge, often used in advanced magic card crafting, frequent use can lead to indirect memory loss.]
[Pure Cross: Purifies the heart, making the wearer’s thoughts pure, but erodes the brain.]
[Soul Bell: When shaken, it calms people, even the dead remain undisturbed.]
[Moon Goddess Incense: Lighting it in the study room cleanses the mind, dispelling distractions and increasing reading efficiency.]
[Divine Fire: An old wand that converts anger into magical flames, the fire never goes out as long as the anger remains!]
…
This entire notebook contained records of items Dark had compiled from various books over the past month.
These might be relics from the previous generation of magic tools or already transformed into magic card tools.
Regardless, they all had significant effects against the seven deadly sins.
But as the saying goes, receiving comes with a price; many of these items had noticeable side effects, requiring severe sacrifices.
Currently, there were very few items without side effects.
Among those, Dark most desired “Mana Dropper,” which had acceptable side effects, and considered it the most likely item to obtain from Traveler’s Street.
Despite this, he believed that “Moon Goddess Incense” might more easily guide the mind toward an insatiable thirst for knowledge—a clearly dangerous prospect that required experimentation.
So his goal today was to find the “Mana Dropper!”
As a tool for extracting substances from the brain, the “Mana Dropper” was suitable for precise crafting of high-level magic cards.
Dark had consulted many books and even asked Professor Kazel about it, firmly believing it could effectively extract emotions and desires, provided it was used with extremely high skill and not frequently.
If he couldn’t get it from Traveler’s Street, he would have to figure out how to obtain it from Professor Kazel’s experiments.
Though it shouldn’t be used frequently, if used judiciously, it could serve as an emergency measure.
The pressing issue now was to absorb some “Pride.”
…
After the freshmen who had been lingering around the castle gates finally dispersed, Dark began to stride towards the castle gate, maintaining his graceful demeanor.
—Noble education deeply ingrained in his bones kept him composed even in anxious moments.
The passage to Traveler’s Street was set up inside the Lotus Pavilion outside the castle.
Crossing the long garden bridge, he arrived at the beautiful Lotus Pavilion.
Dark habitually surveyed the surroundings.
This spacious Lotus Pavilion had seating along the edges and eight sets of stone tables and chairs.
Opposite, a stone pillar bore a line of text: “If we strive to find it, there will always be room for improvement somewhere waiting for us.”
Dark blinked, seeing someone sit on a stone stool, then suddenly vanish as they twisted their hips.
Others twisted and twisted, but remained in place!
“It seems the entrance to the passage moves. There are eight stone tables, each with eight stools; only by choosing the correct eight stools can one enter Traveler’s Street.”
He glanced at the flushed Redneck and Wit, then sat down on a previously unoccupied stool at another table.
Patiently, he waited until everyone else failed, then slightly twisted his hips and vanished from sight.
