The Villain Only Wants To Live a Buddhist Life

Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Wit Gold Falls in Love

Just as Dark casually absorbed knowledge.

Emma Maltis pouted and walked into the reading room.

She arrived at the library only a step behind Dark, but spent more time among the bookshelves than he did.

Emma came from a scholarly family; her father taught children to read at the church, while her mother was a disciple of a sage.

After humans eradicated the demons, they entered a period of renaissance. With the Valkyrie gaining prominence as a symbol of women, female voices gained unprecedented power. Women excelled in all fields, even boxing, which was no weaker than men’s performance.

Moreover, being a Magus was gender-neutral, and the existence of female Magi elevated the status of women.

From a young age, Emma was influenced by her parents’ love for books and developed a strong thirst for knowledge, inheriting her mother’s independent personality.

She wasn’t bad at making friends, but after entering the academy, she found that boys and girls of her age were too immature, and thus had no interest in interacting with them.

Furthermore, Saint Maryan possessed the kingdom’s largest library, which was her dream heaven!

Lost in the excitement of seeing precious books, she lingered longer among the bookshelves than she intended.

Unlike Dark who only took one book, “The Golem Selection,” Emma carried a whole stack of books.

She wobbled forward with the books, her cheeks blushing slightly.

Everything went smoothly.

Emma found an empty table near Dark, placed the books down, stacked high, and began reading eagerly.

So engrossed was she that she didn’t notice Dark just to her left.

Two new students, separated by a few meters, read in peace.

The library provided snacks for sustenance, but unlike the “unscented black tea,” all snacks could only be eaten in the snack room.

At around six o’clock, Dark ate two syrup pancakes, avoiding his favorite chocolate cake, and drank a small cup of milk before returning to the reading room.

“The Golem Selection” was also a kind of illustrated guide, introducing interesting elements in a humorous manner with colored paintings.

Dark gradually realized that reading such entertaining books differed from studying textbooks. Without a strong purpose, he wouldn’t trigger “Greed.”

Moreover, “The Golem Selection” contained valuable knowledge, not considered lazy.

Then, he quickly understood that if there were popular novels for sale here, he might suffer greatly…

An insatiable desire to read more would be seen as “Greed.”

Reading meaningless formulaic novels would be considered “Sloth.”

Picking up a trashy novel could result in double punishment!

This was too terrifying!

Around seven o’clock.

A group of noisy children rushed into the library.

Wit Gold was surrounded in the middle, with freshmen from the Knight Academy excitedly asking the Hero’s Child various questions, completely unaware of the disturbance they caused to the quiet library.

Robert was excluded like a rejected ugly duckling at the end of the line.

Both summoned their familiars and were about to go to the library to look up information.

However, contrary to Dark’s guess, Wit’s familiar wasn’t a buck deer, and Robert’s wasn’t a hunting dog…

Librarian Pandora Dragon watched this unruly group of children, frowning in disapproval.

Suddenly, a gentle breeze swept through, and everyone’s voices disappeared!

“Silence Card?”

Wit abruptly closed his mouth and saw the stern girl behind the counter.

Her skin was exceptionally fair, with long black hair cascading down like a waterfall, and under her eyes, there was a heart-shaped, scale-like mark.

She leaned forward slightly, causing her maternal features to be squeezed into an awkward shape by her body and the desk, forming a perfect curve behind her, with her legs looking remarkably slender under her skirt.

“Mama!”

The effect of the “Silence Card” wore off, and Wit involuntarily blurted out the word, making it stand out clearly.

Everyone turned to stare at him!

Wit’s face flushed instantly, wishing he could bury his head in his chest—his senior sister’s chest.

“Come register here.” Pandora said expressionlessly.

These freshmen left a bad impression on her.

Didn’t freshmen usually be cute, innocent, and shy, like that blond boy earlier?

That kind of reaction when a big sister approached, lowering the head and showing a shy, animal-like expression… slurp… Pandora quickly composed herself, glaring fiercely at these troublemakers.

Especially the leader, what was “Mama” supposed to mean?

Did I look like his mother?

Could it be…

So young and already so naughty, how will he turn out in the future?

Pandora had a very poor first impression of Wit!

Wit continued to blush as he entered the library.

Other students dispersed, leaving him alone with Robert.

Robert couldn’t help but ask, “Wit, why did you call your mother then?”

Wit took a deep breath, pulling out a delicate pendant from his collar, his most precious possession.

“Click.”

He opened the pendant, revealing a photo inside.

“This is my mother. Every night, I look at it and imagine what she looks like.”

Robert hurried over.

For some reason, this photo was only a side profile.

And it was taken from a distance.

Though somewhat blurry, one could still see his mother’s curvy figure and her signature long black hair.

Indeed, she bore a resemblance to the senior sister.

Robert thought for a moment and suggested, “Why don’t I help you find out the name of that senior sister?”

Wit hesitated, finally shaking his head. “No, let’s forget it.”

Then he quietly searched for information.

Teenagers’ thoughts are often hard to predict.

Like how Wit, despite saying it was over, kept thinking about it in his heart.

Or how Emma, realizing the person reading next to her was Dark, felt annoyed yet secretly delighted.

After all, besides the Mana Academy’s freshmen, hardly anyone else studied so seriously.

Dark was the only person she found mature enough.

At nine o’clock sharp.

Dark glanced at the clock, closed “The Golem Selection,” and stood up to leave.

Emma was still engrossed in her book, and Dark pretended not to notice.

He found the bookshelf according to the number he remembered, returned “The Golem Selection,” and checked another spot.

“Into the Abyss” was gone.
