Chapter 84: Chapter 84: The Fate of a Husband-Stealer
"HAHAHAHA… This is too funny! She actually fainted because of a tiny bug!" Charles slid down from the tree, clutching his stomach from laughter, pointing at the unconscious Belinda. Who knew laughing too hard could hurt?
"Charles! Help us down, quick!" Milta and Agatha, still perched on the tree, urged anxiously. The ground was definitely safer!
The guards, who had rushed over with weapons drawn, immediately backed off when they saw the three little troublemakers. Some even rubbed their noses awkwardly and returned to their posts.
After instructing the maids to carry the unconscious Belinda away, Charles flashed a victory sign at Agatha and Milta.
Originally, the trio had hidden in the ornamental tree near Belinda's palace, hoping to catch her in some wrongdoing. But luck wasn't on Belinda's side—she just had to stop right under their tree and start tearing leaves. Seizing the opportunity, Charles tossed a little bug he'd found earlier straight into her collar. And just like that, the savage princess was out cold!
"Charles? Agatha? Milta? What are you doing here?" Serei, who had been dragging his feet, finally arrived and spotted the three laughing kids. He hadn't wanted to come, but avoiding the situation forever wasn't an option.
"Dad, does Mom know you're here?" Charles tilted his head, feigning innocence.
"What does that have to do with your mom?" Serei rubbed his temples. He had no interest in Belinda, but her relentless pursuit was no secret. And now, right in the middle of his honeymoon phase with Sophie, she shows up. He could only hope Sophie wouldn't misunderstand.
"Not my business, I guess. Anyway, we're leaving. You shouldn't stay too long either—Mom made a cake for you!" Waving, the three scampered off, leaving chaos in their wake.
Shaking his head, Serei turned to the waiting maid and learned that Belinda had already been "handled" by the kids. Scolding their mischief inwardly, he couldn't help but feel relieved—at least he wouldn't have to face her now. Hurrying away, he pondered how to explain this to Sophie.
"Prince Serei, the King requests your presence immediately," a knight announced politely.
"Understood." Glancing in Sophie's direction, Serei turned away. *Please don't be too angry, Sophie. At least give me a chance to explain.*
"Mom! Mom! Emergency!" Before even entering the room, Charles and Agatha were already shouting dramatically, with Milta egging them on.
"What's wrong, my darlings?" Sophie set down her fork and rushed to the flustered children.
"Mom, another princess from Nepaledon is here, and she's totally into Dad! We just saw her, but I kinda… accidentally dropped a bug on her, so she's napping now. Dad went to see her but missed her!" Charles puffed out his chest proudly.
"Good job, sweetie! What does she look like? Is she prettier than me?" Sophie couldn't resist asking.
"Hmm…" Charles thought for a moment. "About the same, I guess? She's not ugly, but her temper's awful. Right?" He nudged Agatha and Milta, who nodded vigorously. Best to distract Mom from their mischief!
"Charles, teach me some simple magic—nothing too powerful, just enough to cause a little trouble." Sophie's eyes gleamed. Maybe some palace intrigue tactics from Earth would work here too!
Armed with a bowl of freshly made porridge and a devious grin, Sophie led the kids toward Belinda's palace. *Trying to steal my husband? Let's see how you handle this!*
After some formalities, Sophie finally faced the newly awakened, battle-ready Belinda. The princess wasn't bad-looking—royal bloodlines ensured that—but her scowling face paled in comparison to Sophie's radiant glow.
"Belinda, dear, I'm so sorry! You've traveled all this way, and as the lady of the house, I haven't even properly welcomed you. And now this fright! The children feel terrible—they begged me to bring you this delicious porridge as an apology!" Sophie chirped, not giving Belinda a chance to speak.
As she stepped closer, Sophie "tripped" on her skirt, lunging straight at Belinda. The porridge splattered all over Belinda's face, and Sophie "helpfully" smeared it around in mock panic.
"You—you—you!" Trembling with rage, Belinda shoved Sophie off and wiped her face furiously, a grain of rice still clinging to her eyelash. "You idiot! How could Serei ever love you? You must've tricked him into marrying you! Listen here—Serei loves ME! He always has and always will! You'd better leave on your own, or I'll make him throw you out!"
Sophie gasped dramatically. "Oh no! There's still rice on your face! Let me wash it for you!" With a flick of her wrist, a small water ball drenched Belinda from head to toe.
"YOU—!" Though the cold water soothed her stinging face, being soaked was no improvement. Shivering from anger and cold, Belinda could barely speak.
"Oops! My magic's still a bit clumsy. I only meant to clean your face!" Sophie grabbed a towel and scrubbed Belinda's reddened cheeks a little too vigorously.
"Get away from me!" Belinda screeched, shoving Sophie back. "You did this on purpose! You're jealous of me! You want to ruin my face!"
"Belinda, darling, why would I be jealous? I adore you! Serei's told me how much you've… *taken care of* him. We're so lucky to have you as a *big sister*!" Sophie emphasized the age jab, knowing from Milta that Belinda was older than Serei but pretended otherwise.
Belinda's face turned purple. Age was every woman's weak spot. "Y-you—!"
"Don't get too smug! Even if Serei doesn't love me, he'll never love you! He loves my sister, Camilla! One day, he'll abandon you just like he did me!" Belinda sneered, waiting for Sophie's panic.
"You knew about Camilla? You knew she was your sister! And how did you treat them? Did you ever bless their love?" Sophie's smile vanished. "What did you do to your own sister? Need I remind you? You're the reason they broke up! Should I thank you? Without you, Serei and I wouldn't be together!"
Stepping closer, Sophie's voice turned icy. "Did you ever think about why they separated? You love Serei? Love means wanting his happiness! What did you give him? Schemes and pain! Is that your idea of love?"
"I—"
"Save it! You're just selfish! If you can't have him, you'll destroy him! You don't deserve to stand on Kilisial soil. You're not welcome here!" Sophie's anger flared, her stomach twinging painfully.
"No! That's not true! I LOVE Serei! You're lying!" Belinda, hysterical, shoved Sophie hard.
Caught off guard, Sophie fell, dizziness washing over her. Her vision blurred, and her stomach ached. She tried to stand but couldn't.
The kids, realizing something was wrong, rushed to her side.
"You…" Sophie pointed weakly at Belinda before darkness swallowed her.
"Mom! MOM!" Agatha burst into tears as Milta froze in fear.
Charles glared at Belinda, his voice deadly calm. "If anything happens to my mother, I'll make you pay."
Turning to the servants, he barked orders. "You—fetch the royal healer! You—inform the King and my father! The rest—carry Mom to her chambers!" With one last venomous look at Belinda, Charles followed the guards.
Belinda collapsed, trembling.
**Will Sophie survive?**
