Chen Kai didn't care anymore for this woman who was so hell-bent on embarrassing Su Lian out of jealousy. It won't be long before she makes shameless actions for her vendetta.

Let's keep a distance from her.

"The show is about to start. Manager Fen please help the guests find their way to their seats. I would hate for them to miss this opportunity. We'll go to the viewing area."

Chen Kai's words were a dismissal and a reminder. He gave them a chance to create connections for their families and he doesn't owe them a thing, they weren't his people.

"Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Chen." Young Master Yao made a show of 'knowing his place' and the others followed. Li Yaqin was reluctant to leave but followed her friends. It was then she regretted her luck. After seeing the group led by Qin Shao she saw the heights of 'prestige' in Nanjing.

If she can form a link with them won't her path be smooth? Now she's stuck with the prodigal children.

With that episode thrown at the back of their minds, Chen Kai enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with everyone. He found himself opening up to the possibility of gaining new friends. Out of the five guys, he found a compatibility to two.

Qin Yi and Ruan Zhenhong.

Maybe it was their maturity or low-energy presence, but those two left a good impression on Chen Kai.

As for the one with the same last name as his, he decided to keep that one at a distance.

Chen Quan probably sensed his decision or was probably on the same wavelength when he made the silent decision to keep the relationship as an acquaintance. His conjuncture about these Chen brothers may be farfetched but his family comes into information from the main family to keep certain things covered. He has also seen the members of the main family.

It's best not to get tangled with these two.

"That wasn't a relaxing day."

"Hmm. I'll give you another one. Today had too many people."

In his peripheral, Chen Kai saw the tired smile on his lover's face. He wanted her to relax before starting work tomorrow but variables popped up.

Steadying his hand on the steering wheel, he reached out with the other to take hold of her hand. Squeezing her slender fingers, he brought them up to his lips, kissing them reverently under her soft gaze.

"That woman. Do you think she will start something? I don't want you to be distracted by miscellaneous stuff."

"It doesn't matter to me what she does. Li Yaqin and I were never friends. I didn't have any in Hangzhou. Besides, Hangzhou is part of my past and will stay there."

In the confines of the car, as they cruise along the main road back to the city, the two spoke softly matching the warm and intimate atmosphere. Dull to the world outside, Chen Kai listened attentively to his lover's past. The rebel beneath the princess's facade is how she portrayed herself in the telling of memories and how her family saw her.

Clearly, they had no plan to reach out to their only daughter.

Su Lian never blacklisted their number nor blocked them from her circle of friends. Every year she sends them holiday greetings and birthday wishes but no one replies.

It went as far as her brother deleting her contact and the messages to her father were unread.

Though she spoke indifferently about her family's action, he knew it pained her to be on the receiving end and still hold some hope that they would talk to her.

The cruel words - 'forget about them' were on the tip of his tongue but he held back. With his mentality, that would be easy for him to do. He experienced countless betrayals and schemes to let go of unwanted people in his life but not Su Lian. Her rebellion against her family stems from wanting to be seen as an individual, not a pawn for wealth.

All he can do presently is give her silent support and let her learn these things through her experience.

A comfortable silence filled the car after her final word. Su Lian used this time to think of her next step in life. College was over, she was about to start a new job, and things like finding a good home and extra money for comfort were out of the equation. It can be said her adjustment from college kid to working-stiff was smooth. She skipped a lot of trials most young people face.

It is all thanks to her aunt who helped with tuition and pocket money and to Kai who is constantly making sure she is happy and content.

Squeezing his hand with both of hers, she quietly stared at Kai's side profile as he drove. The street lights from outside flash intermittently across his face, putting random parts of his handsome features under the spotlight. There was a lingering smile on his lips and his eyes held a soft expression, throwing her deeper into the intimate feeling they created.

"Kai."

"Yes, baby.'

Her cheeks burned upon hearing the soft doting voice saying that common endearment. His deep chuckle followed up making her flustered and annoyed by his teasing.

"Tsk~ You made me lose the perfect moment to be loving," she complained.

Chen Kai's laughter filled the car. He got a glimpse of her cute pouting under the street lights and couldn't help untangling his hand with hers to squeeze those cheeks of hers. "Alright. Alright. Your husband is sorry. I'll behave."

"Hmph! Now it will sound plain if I say it," she continued. Her little episode was an adorable play in Chen Kai's eyes. He continued to patronize her with a simpering mention of the word sorry and adopted an obedient posture while driving.

She tried to stifle the smile on her lips but failed. Her heart felt funny during the playful interaction with him. A ticklish feeling that made her entire body shudder in delight. Is this the meaning of 'heart-filled happiness'?

Only he can make her feel this way.

"I love you, Kai."

Chen Kai heard the words. He heard them very clearly. His mind and heart seem to go still briefly before regaining their active state. His hands on the steering wheel tightened. Releasing a shuddering breath, a smile grew on his lips as he ignored the teary feeling at the corners of his eyes.

When was the last time he heard those words filled with love and devotion being said out loud? Wasn't this what he longed for during this retirement? A love of his own. One of the foundations to start his family.

He knows that if he replies to her now it will also be a confirmation of his feelings for her. From the four-year accumulation of silent love from the original Kai to the whimsical 'love at first sight' of the present Kai - his love for her was pure. It was right to confirm it.

He laughed softly, glancing at her. She can see the glazed look in his eyes and his vulnerable state. This was her Kai how can she not know when he's overwhelmed emotionally?

She didn't expect him to respond this way.

"I love you too. Undeniably so."

Re-entering the city, nighttime netizens on the street were enjoying the little fun left of their weekend. Rushing through multiple green lights was a parade of luxury cars that dazzled the eye. Those who have quick fingers opened their camera app to take a short video of the attraction.

It is not rare to see million-dollar cars on the streets, their uniformity poked at their curiosity, and the brisk following of the metallic-grey Ferrari Purosangue.

Behind the four-seater, Ferrari was a Lamborghini Urus S, a Rolls-Royce Black Badge, a Bentley Continental GT, and a Maserati MC20.

The lineup was spectacular. The drivers of other cars on the street subconsciously cleared a path for this convoy. The speed was regulated but nothing could stop the beastly hum of these supercars as they drove by.

The Purosangue and Urus S were the first to break off as they turned into Binhu District.

Chen Kai, the lead in the Ferrari, announced to the sleepy-eyed beauty beside him that he had a surprise for her.

Su Lian was curious about this surprise and chased away the sleep.

"What is it?" She tried to think of the things he would get her but her guesses were limited to what she would need at home and fashion. He knew her love of changing styles according to the season, maybe its a gift card to go on a shopping spree?

Seeing her struggle, he laughed and told her to think bigger. Knowing her humble personality, Su Lian won't ask for much nor expect much. She accepts things in measure.

One of the reasons why he loved her.

She was easy to please and a companion easy to get along with.

"It would be nice to drive you to work everyday," he casually commented.

"Yeah~"

"So I have to go with plan B."

"Oh?! There are plans for my commute to work?" Su Lian was amused by this guy's ability to plan for things around her. Since he came into his 'inheritance' everything besides her has ben secondary. This move can make any woman feel precious which is Su Lian's current feeling.

"Plan B will be in effect until you're ready to move in with me."

His words were soft with a hint of wariness. She heard it all but didn't reply right away. Her mind was already conjuring up scenes of living with him. "Yes. >cough< When I'm ready."

"Then what I can do for now is this~"

On his last word, they were driving into the parking lot of their building, coming to a stop at the two assigned parking spots.

Through the windshield Su Lian spotted two cars under grey covers, parked neatly in their spots.

"You shouldn't! I mean, Why? Kai! There's an app for your plan!"

Though she was admonishing him, the ecstatic look wasn't hidden.

Opening the door for her, he watched on unhurriedly as she leapt from the car and ran towards the two mystery cars outside. It wasn't long for her friends to join her. Chen Kai joined them in a leisurely manner, watching them bounce around the cars.

"There are two cars here. They're under my name for the moment. According to which one you choose, the ownership will be transferred to you."

"WHAT!!!" The four ladies turned towards Chen Kai, confusion coating their faces.

He didn't flinch at this abrupt action. He calmly explained to them his so-called plan B. The two cars are genuinely for them. They can either place one person name on the ownership documents and other affliated things or go into it jointly.

This tests their friendship and mentality if anyone looks further into Chen Kai's 'plan'.

Apart for the mundane things, he placed four members of his security team under the the staff of the building and assigned them to the girls. The guards are their drivers when needed but primarily part of security for the apartment building; they only need to iron out the details. The girls will be responsible for the upkeep and he will keep the insurance active.

"So what do think?" He asked after the explanation.

Da Mei the most mature and sensible one in the group was equally dumbfounded with her friends. She stiffly turned her head to the covered cars and woodenly moved closer to remove the covers. She was trying to hypnotize herself into thinking that Brother Chen will gift them cheap domestic cars that most Didi drivers have but her rational thinking bashed that.

Brother Chen wouldn't even think of doing that.

He gave them 1/4 of Su Lian's pampering because they were her friends. If he wants his wife to be comfortable and happy, only the best will be given to her.

So.... foreign brand?

The others turned to watch Da Mei's movements at the corner of their eyes, keeping Chen Kai in their sights. Su Lian was more accepting of these gifts but was wary of the car models. Fingers crossed she was hoping for a low-key car.

Ye Jun had no thoughts on car specifics. The only thought in her head is how to get a hubby like Chen Kai. That is a challenge.

Lin Fa was screaming internally, thinking of titles to give her next video.

Back to Da Mei's investigation, she was currently standing infront of the raised cover, revealing the color white and the familiar blue and white logo.

"Kai."

"Yes."

"Kai."

"Yes, wife."

"Do you understand the definition of low-key?"

"..... To an extent. The two didn't pass 4 Million Yuan. I installed a few accessories and packages," he answered dutifully. He didn't dare tell her that one of them was practically a gift to him.

Lin Fa rushed to the other and vigorously lifted the cover. "Mercedes," she called out in disbelief.

Su Lian looked at the white BMW then the red Mercedes. The former car was a coupe that's popular amongst the ladies and its a model she eyed - the Alpina B8. The latter, a sleek sophisticated model for the elite working class - an AMG E53 sedan.

Neither of them portrayed low-key and hapless college graduate.

The girls looked at Chen kai once more then the cars. They tacitly stepped away from the cars and waited for Su Lian to settle everything.

Getting a good apartment was okay between friends.

Sponsoring household items, is a good way to help.

Gifting luxury clothes..... ummm thanks?

Gifting cars ..... The girls no longer had an excuse to accpet Brother Chen's gift. They know its because of their friendship and Su Lian's position in his life but somethings are too much.

Su Lian released a tired sigh and looked at her lover who was patiently waiting for them to come to a decision. Those eyes can't hide the tenderness and pampering. Many thoughts were running through her mind but they all died out when he smiled softly at her.

This guy. She will handle her friends' mentality later.

"The BMW. You know thats the one I will choose. I bet its actually in my name already," she said with a helpless expression on her face. Going closer to him, she easily slid herarms around his waist and hugged him tightly. Chen Kai wrapped his arms around her body and held her in a comfortable silence.

"My wife is so smart," he whispered against her ear.

"You just know me too well."

In a resort a few provinces away, a ringtone blasted through an ambiguous atmosphere. The call was ignored by the occupants. The room once again fell into a heated and desperate atmosphere with coquettish giggles dancing around.

The phone rang again.

An impatient female cursed and grabbed the phone from the bedside table. She didn't look at the caller ID, she threw the phone on the carpeted floor and returned her attention to the man below her.

She was enjoying her vacation, why bother her?

An hour later while her lover was in the shower and she was wrapped in a robe, she remembered her phone.

Retrieving her phone, she saw the countless missed calls by one person. Rolling her eyes, she dialed the number.

"Ancestor, where have you been? Are you tired of living? Don't you want a suitable place to live after your old man dies?"

"What the fuck are you talking about?" She rolled her eyes at the thousand and one questions from this guy. If it wasn't for mutual interests and the help he was giving her within the company, she wouldn't bother to speak with him.

"As expected, you weren't informed. It seems like things were kept tighter than I imagine. I was only in the know a few hours ago."

"I'm still waiting for you to get to the point."

The news that she failed to get shocked her to the core.

"WHAT!!!"

Why wasn't she informed? Isn't it a family business? She's the only daughter. She should know these things.

"Do you want to know who's your new boss?"
