There was another reason why he took the long route.

6.00 PM Chen Kai slowly turned into the apartment carpark. The security guard on duty and the lobby attendant were informed of their boss's visit. On seeing the Lamborghini, the guard efficiently guided him to the two vacant spots that belonged to the Boss lady and her friends.

"Good afternoon, Boss. With the changes in security and management, the tenants voiced their comfort. A special team has been planted within the staff to watch over the Boss lady." The guard solemnly replied to Chen Kai's simple question as he kept his Military stance.

Silent praise was sent to Commander Liu for the discipline of his team.

"Good job. I'll be back soon." He gave the guard his car keys and made his way to Su Lian's apartment.

He arrived unhindered at her door and waited for one of the girls to give him entry. The attendant in the lobby must notify and check all visitors before entering the elevators.

The door swung open revealing the too energetic Lin Fa.

"Welcome, Brother Chen!"

Her abrupt welcome slightly stunned him, his eyes showed a hint of wariness when she came bounding over.

Ye Jun was behind her playing the role of camerawoman. When he caught her gaze, she wore an apologetic look.

Madam Director has changed the script.

Not wanting to diminish the little energy ball, he decided to play along.

"Good Evening, Madam Director. I'm here for my wife," he returned cheekily.

Ye Jun captured Lin Fa and Chen Kai in the same frame before zooming in on the latter. The black knee-length coat and the glimpses of black from his outfit made his skin fairer under the camera.

Under the lens, the old fans of Lin Fa recognized the subtle changes in Chen Kai. His skin was fairer, his inky black hair had more luster and his body looked bigger with muscle. His face had a fresh and clean look, with no impurities showing off supple lightly red lips. His entire being was prince-like.

The eyes of netizens are truly omnipotent.

How did this guy get more fairy-like in less than a week? What godly skin care products does he use?

The barrage was either complimenting his looks or begging for a closer look at his outfit. The three outside the apartment didn't see the barrage on the laptop inside but Da Mei did.

Outside the girls led Chen Kai into the living room to wait for Su Lian.

Chelsea leather Ankle boots. "Santoni."

Slim Fit tailored pants. "Givenchy."

Calfskin belt. "Givenchy."

Long-sleeved button-up with gold monograms. "Givenchy."

Gold leaf print dinner jacket. "Pierre Gartin."

His introductions were steady and evenly paced bringing him to finish in less than three minutes. He looked at the camera and gave them a thumbs up with a plain toothy grin.

Ye Jun couldn't keep it together and laughed and Lin Fa glared at him.

In the bedroom, Su Lian listened again to Da Mei's summary of the ongoing outside. She released a nervous sigh and focused on her image in the mirror.

The dress hugged her curves and moved with every action of her body. Her pale skin was a beautiful contrast to the cream design of the dress. The style has two looks, risque and elegant but it all depends on the wearer.

Su Lian carried both styles well.

She looked ..... different.

Felt different.

This is a new look for her. It was levels away from her fresh, down-to-earth look. He was attracted to that look, would he change after seeing her like this?

Chen Kai heard the answer and didn't mind. He too planned to keep some memories of tonight. Thinking of what he had planned for her, he heard the opening of the door. He took one step forward, looking at the slowly moving door.

Maybe it's the silence in the room and the suspenseful entrance but Chen Kai felt his anticipation rise. His heart rate sped up, slightly waiting.... patiently waiting.... for what? For whom?

For her.

He missed her. He has one more day with her until they're caught up with their career leaving random times to spend with each other. He wanted to give her special memories to cherish when they were apart. It may be silly for others but he and Su Lian were realistic. Online communication won't be enough, traveling between work and home will be tiring and work will occupy their time.

It is best to create and savor moments between them.

He took another step forward, ignoring everyone around him. His brows furrowed when he saw a flash of colored hair.

Su Lian stepped out demurely. A nervous smile was on her face as her eyes met Kai's. She saw the frown on his face but it didn't last for long.

She saw the blooming smile on his lips and unconcealed admiration in his eyes.

"Lian." He closed the distance between them and reached out to touch her hair.

His eyes were filled with wonder as he held a handful and gently ran his fingers through it. Gone was her natural black hair; it was now replaced by an auburn color.

Gorgeous. His Lian was already a fairy beauty. The change of hair magnified that beauty into a vixen. Worthy of the woman who made him weak in the heart.

"You like it?"

"Huh?"

Su Lian giggled at the dazed look on his face. "Do you like it? My hair," she asked softly.

That smile.

That crooked smile on his lips made her shudder. That smile brought wariness and anticipation.

She felt his hand on her waist, pulling her flush against his body. Her cheeks were now as red as her hair. The warm heat from that touch bypassed the layer of clothing and seared her skin. Every touch, every move was a first for her, for them.

She heard her voice saying his name when he lowered his head but she can't recall doing so. This man always had a hold on her faculties. When did she give in to him? 'Since day one,' her inner self gloated with pride.

"I love it. You're more beautiful than before, my Lian." His words were said against her lips and brought her back to reality. His warm breath teased her before his lips replaced them.

Sweet.

Slow.

Those were the two words that described her first kiss with Kai. He kept her in his arms, kissing her unhurriedly until she relaxed.

Her body willingly gave in to him. She circled her arms around his neck and boldly returned his kiss, pushing for more.

He was waiting for her.

She felt him smile against her lips before slowly ending their kiss. This guy is such a tease. Kissing her in front of her friends and thousands of netizens. What can she do or even say? This is the guy she liked.

The business hours are only in the late half of the day, three days a week, and reservations only. Pretty exclusive in the eyes of many but convenient for their patrons.

The valet took control of their car, leaving the welcoming attendant to them. The young lady led them in after confirming their reservation and then gave an escort to the waiting lounge.

During the ten-minute wait, they were served light refreshments and listened to the live piano music. The atmosphere was completely distant from the world outside.

Su Lian heard his quiet question. He gently squeezed her hand between them as she rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying the romantic ambiance. She knew he was asking about their night. "Highly impressed. I can't wait to see what you planned."

Ten minutes went by in comfortable silence.

Chen Kai tugged at Su Lian's slender hand and opened the door of the private box. He entered first and gave a quick look at the setup.

It is exactly as he requested. Intimate and luxurious.

There were no bright-colored balloons or hundreds of roses, nor a bottle of expensive champagne chilling in an ice bucket. The private box was designed in an Elizabethan theme with red, green, and gold furnishings. The room was large and housed a dining table for two, a chaise lounge with a coffee table beside it, a sidebar, and an entertainment system hidden in an antique cabinet.

The woodwork of the furniture was intricate and gleamed under the lighting. The soft and welcoming scene relaxed one's mind.

This coincides with the restaurant's specialty, each private box is designed with a theme from a certain era.

Chen Kai chose this room for the simplicity of it all and the already designed romanticsm. The decor is eye-catching but there's only one headliner in the room to set off the awe - the Waterford crystal chandelier. The soft lighting created the right atmosphere.

He turned sideways and revealed the room to Su Lian. Her eyes glittered under the soft light and gold furnishing. "I like it." Her meaningful praise made him happy.

"This song..." Su Lian brushed past him with a look of wonder in her eyes. The music playing in the hidden speakers was one of her favorite songs. She was about to turn to him in question when she saw the other surprise he had for her.

She slowly made her way to the pedestal and gingerly reached out to touch the domed-shaped glass case.

Chen Kai already had his phone ready to capture her reaction to this gift.

On the pedestal is a glass case at 24" in height which held a slender decorative vase made of porcelain. The lotus flower painting on a black background gave way to the exotic look of the two white lilies in vase. The glass case was a preservation case to maintain the freshness of the chosen flower. It mimicked the iconic rose case in the Western story of Beauty and the Beast.

Captured by the novel-like sentiment behind the common flower gifting, Su Lian couldn't take her eyes off it. She loved it. In time to come, she can save the flowers she will receive and look at them every day without worrying it will die before time. It was a well-thought-out gift.

"This is one of your gifts."

"Is it silly that I already thought of a spot to put this in my apartment?" Su Lian said cheekily.

"Not silly. Expected."

"Thank you. I love it." She ran back to his side and pulled him into a hug.

A sense of accomplishment washed over him. Holding her, he realized how addicted he had become to holding her in his arms. It feels good.

"Let's order then settle in," he said softly against her ear. He smiled when he felt her body tense for a moment then returned to normal.

"You order."

"The demanding wife has stepped onto the stage," he teased and went to the chaise. He ordered dishes to her liking and made sure the dessert was something she would like.

He settled into a comfortable position and watched as she flittered around the room. Their companionship has always been this saw - silent with random conversations. They simply liked to be in each other's presence. This date is more like a symbol/a marker to confirm their relationship status and to be aware of other things

"Lian."

Hearing Chen Kai's soft call as she put away their coats, she looked his way and couldn't help but smile. In her eyes, he has always been hers, no one can compare.

"What is it?"

He didn't answer at first. He opted to look at her for a while. Gently, he reached out and caressed the apple of her cheek with his fingers before playing with her hair.

Su Lian took his hand and held it with both of hers, wanting to be bold. "Kiss me before you speak."

"I do as my wife orders," he replied with a cheeky smile.

Leaning forward, he kissed her lips lightly before placing his next hand at the back of her neck, holding her head steady when he kissed her firmer.

She moaned softly when he lightly nipped her lips and boldly teased her with his tongue.

He laughed when her grip on his hand became tighter. Bringing her body closer to his, she whimpered against his lips signaling him to give her a second of respite before continuing. Her hands were now around his neck, using her body to push him backward on the lounge.

"Madam, what type of behavior is this?"

She didn't move, her cheeks were flaming by her bold move. It was even more so when this guy moved his hands along her back and waist, wrapping them around her body. He held her closely and stayed in that compromising position.

Slowing down, he ended their kiss.

Not one moved.

Holding her, Chen Kai's eyes followed the curves of her body and memorized the feel of her on him. The development was fast but not questioned.

'Wasn't this normal according to their relationship?' he asked himself

"What is it you want to tell me?" She asked. Her fingers lazily moved in his hair while she waited for him to speak with an affectionate look in her eyes.

Hugging her body tighter, he moved his arm to below her legs to place her on his lap. Her startled shriek turned to laughter by the quick move. She held onto him and playfully kissed his cheek after they became comfortable.

Head on his shoulder, Su Lian stayed in his arms, not wanting to move from his warmth. Though she was thinking of their present position, there was no awkwardness between them.

It was all perfect.

"Lian."

"Yes, Kai," she answered.

"Let's make this a forever thing."
