As expected, Su Lian did reply to his text. He just sent away one of the guards with her package and returned to the car.

Sending that million to her was from simple reasoning. His woman was spoiling herself, the 100,000 yuan may be used up for groceries and miscellaneous things, so why not give her more to spend without worry?

He doesn't know the price for spa treatments so a million will suffice. Plus Chen Kai knows Su Lian's thinking. The text proved it.

He read their conversation over and over with a soft smile on his face. He was anxious for their first date.

This was his first date... ever adding his past lives.

On the way his phone rang, he opened his eyes to peek at the caller ID and threw the phone to Xiao Wei when he read the name.

"This is..?"

"A presumptuous class monitor from high school. You can keep things short with her," Chen Kai replied softly. He didn't give any specific instructions but it was clear he and the young woman wasn't close.

Xiao Wei didn't put much thought into it. If Chen Kai put no effort into talking to this person, it meant they had no place in his life.

"Hello. Young Master Chen is unavailable at the moment. If you like, you can leave a message."

On the other end of the call, sitting with a few colleagues, Mu Zui was slightly stunned at the unfamiliar male voice and his words. Her mind began to create many scenarios with the new rumor as a foundation.

"Excuse me, is it important?" The man once again spoke, this time with an impatient tone.

"It's not rather important but something about his high school reunion. As his friend, you should be aware of this. Friends do share everything." Mu Zui did her best take on trap talk by flattering and questioning. If she wanted to confirm these rumors then she had to dig up her intel.

"Yes, I'm his friend. What is not or rather is important that you must relay."

"A friend. Well, a friend of Chen Kai's is a friend of mine. I'm Mu Zui a high school friend and class monitor."

"Do you wish to relay this message via text?" The man was completely unbothered and his unhurried remark made Mu Zui embarrassed. It made her take the role of a busybody who's calling Chen Kai under pretense.

"Hahaha! Look at me curious about my friend's growth. Our Tang Yue has graciously booked a banquet room for our reunion at the five-star Emerald Hotel. Guests are asked to arrive at 6 pm to have a wonderful dining experience. It will be a change from the small restaurants and street stalls we are used to....."

"Okay. I will relay the message. I'm hanging up now." The man said cutting off her words and pointedly ending their call.

Mu Zui stared at her phone in shock. No one has ever been so rude to her.

"What got you so shook?" one of her colleagues asked.

They were having lunch at their company's cafeteria, not restaurant-worthy but it could help with hunger.

"They say birds of a feather always flock together, today I know that it's true. An arrogant Xueba from my high school had his friend answer his phone in the most 'forced' way. He had the guy call him Young Master Chen. A poor peasant pulling Didi wants to be called a young master. Have you ever heard such idiocy? Now that little pretentious bastard hung up on me.

Where do they get their confidence?"

Her colleagues laughed at her monologue and its contents.

"Are they so idle to play out such fantasies?"

"They can't be college graduates. So whimsical."

"What a load of a frog wishing he's a prince. Your old classmate is so cute."

Mu Zui laughed along and made Chen Kai a new source of fun.

"A classmate hooked up with his sister? Won't that bring anger between them?" Someone asked. They were all interested in this 'other people's business.'

"She's a pretty little thing and our Tang Yue is walking around with big bosses. What do you think?" Mu Zui quipped with a smirk on her lips.

"Gold worshipper! What a family."

Mu Zui shrugged at the comment and lazily voiced Chen Kai's family background. "He's a bastard who turned into an oil bottle after his loose mother died. It's an open secret in the community. The family made a bit of money now, but only the blood children are enjoying it. The 'sister' commented that Chen Kai is currently eating soft rice in Nanjing courtesy of a certain madam in the county.

That may explain the luxury clothes and car that a classmate said he currently has."

The colleagues leaned further in with this news.

"Hahahahaha! Smooth sailing in life. From the mother hooking men, the son decided to be a sponge. What talents."

Mu Zui laughed along, mentioning that he would come to the reunion. As expected they asked for invites to the reunion.

The more the merrier right?!

Back to Chen Kai's end, he received Mu Zui's message with a bitter laugh. It was clear what they were doing. Isn't this the common route for all class reunions?

"The reunion is on a Saturday. You can open a room for XiaoYan and me from Friday. We'll leave Nanjing in the evening that same day and return Sunday. Prepare everything else. I don't plan to stay longer than expected."

"Is there a friend to contact before you head over?" Xiao Wei asked tentatively.

Chen Kai didn't answer at first, the truth was bitter and sad but that was the reality of 'his' childhood. There's no way to sugarcoat it.

"There's no one."

Lin Fa and Da Mei were amid their scheduled massages at the health club when Su Lian received a call from an unlisted number. As part of their package for 4 persons, they had a private lounge for the duration of their appointment.

"Hello?"

"Young Miss, I am Yuan, badge number 583 from Young Master Chen's security team. I'm currently at the reception of your health club. I have to trouble you to meet me here. Apologies." The voice on the other end of the call was courteous.

She heard in passing about his Security Team but didn't ask further questions. She knew the basic information that his team was in charge of security at the apartment buildings.

"I'll be right there."

Su Lian ended the call and rushed out of the lounge towards the reception area. Ye Jun was puzzled by her actions but didn't follow. When she returns, the reason will be said.

At the reception lobby, the two club attendants were eyeing the uniformed man who was standing near the seating area. He greeted them politely and stated his reason for being here but they were too distracted by the man himself.

The uniform of black and gold screamed dominance and matched with his tall and burly physique, a female's love for a man in uniform reached its peak.

"Who's guy is this? A soldier? Is the army looking for movie stars now?" one asked not caring who heard. She was bold in speaking which sometimes made people uneasy.

"Maybe that's where we can find a good-looking one who is attentive to their woman like this one. He said his woman was here and look he brought her a gift. Gosh, so cute."

"....The Army - an option in finding a good man.'

The bodyguard, Yuan heard all of this misconception and couldn't help but refute it silently. After making the call to the Young Master's woman, it was five minutes before she arrived. Her photo along with other friends' was circulated and marked as the young master's family.

He stepped forward when Su Lian entered the lobby. He lowered his eyes when he saw her outfit of a robe and slippers, it wasn't right of him to boldly look at her.

"Yuan?"

"Yes, young miss," he responded. Bowing in greeting, he offered the gold and white gift bag.

The joy in receiving a gift brightened her face. Bouncing in excitement, she received the gift and thanked him.

"We'll be nearby if you need help with anything. The Young Master assigned me and a comrade to watch over you until you return home."

Su Lian raised her eyebrow in disbelief. She wasn't a greenhorn with this type of security, her family held a position that entitled them to have their bodyguards but she was still uncomfortable with people monitoring her. Now her boyfriend is doing the same.

"This..."

Yuan saw her discomfort and it was in line with what the Young Master relayed to him. "We won't be far and won't make you uncomfortable. You have my number now, it can be saved as an emergency number." He said all of this to ease her mind and it worked gradually.

"He knows me too well," she muttered.

"I'll take my leave now, Young Miss." Yuan once again bowed in farewell and left the health club, giving the receptionists a quick nod of the head along the way.

Curiosity was burning in their chest. The club attendants in the lobby wanted to reach out to Su Lian to ask her about her identity but stopped. This Health Club prided itself on privacy and professionalism. They can't allow their innate need to gossip to violate their job rules. They can only watch as Su Lian rushes back to her lounge with a giddy smile on her face.

"What is it?"

That was the first question Ye Jun asked Su Lian when she re-entered the lounge. She sat up eagerly, waiting for the gift bag to open up.

From the happenings the past days, the group of friends knows that Chen Kai has been spoiling Su Lian since they officially got together and they have been getting appreciative gifts. Most men don't care about their woman's friends unless they want to veer off the track, much less spend so much on them but Chen Kai does.

He alleviated some burdens for them, giving them peace of mind for their first day of work on Monday.

They were thankful to have this friendship with him.

"We're both in the dark."

Su Lian slowly detached both sides of the bag, annoying Ye Jun greatly.

When it was finally opened, a small pink card was placed on top of black tissue paper, greeting them playfully. Reaching for it, Su Lian read aloud.

' I miss you. I miss our carefree days. I miss seeing you every time I turn around. I guess I have to adapt to video calls. Your Kai.'

Reading Chen Kai's words rekindled the worry she and her friends chatted about back in their dorms. They are no longer carefree and frivolous young people who are simple college kids. They are now working stiffs; adults; do not have much free time; relationships will be tested; and more things will be occupying their time.

Though they were lucky enough to find apartments next to each other and jobs within range, Su Lian is the only one in a new relationship and will be apart for most of the time. She will be an entry-level worker and Chen Kai is the boss of his company.

"We have to adapt," Su Lian said softly.

Ye Jun read the card and also fell into deep thought.

This was normal.

Pushing away the sad vibes, Su Lian opened the tissue paper. "Shit~~ What happened to my frugal Kai!"

Neatly packed was a new S-series Samsung phone, earbuds, tablet, watch, and accessories. They were all in light colors of pink, gold, and white, superiorly feminine.

" Oh, my~ Word~~~ This is a little something?! What the Hell!!!"

Ye Jun was in a daze. Judging by the models and the brand, I spy a near 30,000 and that's my average estimate. Does Brother Chen need more help in spending his money?" Ye Jun said in awe as she looked at the packaged Samsung Tablet.

Su Lian was now speechless as she sorted out each device. Her face was red with excitement and embarrassment at Chen Kai's show of affection. He wasn't tight-fisted in spending on her. Isn't it a clear show of how much he trusted her and his deep feelings? She can only reciprocate the same feelings she has for him.

That won't be a problem. Chen Kai is the man she chose to be with.

"Quick! Check my backups. I want to switch phones now. Make sure the photos are in the cloud. Crap, what's that password again? Oh, this is so cute!!!" Su Lian threw her old phone to Ye Jun and chose a case to place on her new phone.

No one can stop her joy in breaking the seal on the phone box. "WAIT!! Text Kai and tell him - I love it, be right back."

Ye Jun was now her assistant. "Compared to the 50,000 Yuan dress, I say this is pretty low cost. Imagine your dinner date," she commented.

Su Lian's eyes widen at the thought. "Yes. Imagine! Our first date."
