The Two Faced Emperor

Chapter 34: The fallen

After the massacre committed by Faithless and Lady Marianne against both the Scarlet Horns and the Black Order, they were now heading toward the Lost Emerald City, carrying the spoils.

They entered the city and passed by the palace gate… one of the guards stopped them. Faithless turned toward him and looked at him with a neutral gaze, but the soldier stepped back, slowly placing his hand on his sword.

"Where did you come from, and what are you carrying in those bags?"

Faithless approached him slowly and spoke in a deep tone:

"We are bounty hunters, and we have just completed a mission — we killed the Scarlet Horns and the Black Order."

The guard laughed, placing his five fingers on his face. The four were puzzled by the reason for his laughter.

"You? Kill the Black Order? Don't make me laugh, man."

Faithless pulled the bag from his back, placed it on the ground, and slowly opened it. The guard glanced at the bag while laughing, but his laughter quickly turned into shock.

He spoke in an astonished tone as he tried to gather his words:

"What? For ten years no one has been able to kill them or even get close… who are you?"

Faithless slowly closed the bag, placed it back on his back, and spoke in a cold tone:

"Just a man who moves from place to place."

After saying this, Faithless turned his back to the guard and continued walking toward the tavern… Lady Marianne spoke in a sweet tone:

"Even the guard was shocked by this… they probably thought that group would never fall."

Faithless smiled coldly, holding the collar as he spoke in an arrogant tone:

"There is nothing I can't kill. Even the mountain — if I want to, I can split it."

"Ooooh, how frightening you are." Marianne touched his shoulder and spoke in a soft voice…

They reached the tavern door, where the sound of clamor and clinking glasses could be heard from outside. Faithless grabbed the handle calmly and opened the door.

He placed his right foot inside the tavern, and silence spread throughout… Faithless advanced toward the bar and placed the two bags on the table.

Everyone was in shock — even the bartender swallowed his saliva. Faithless slowly extended his hands forward and opened the first bag to reveal four Scarlet Horns.

The bartender's eyes widened in shock, and he spoke quietly to himself:

'How did he manage to kill them? And the strange thing is, his shirt has blood and some tears, but no deep wounds except the one on his chest.'

The fat man with a thick beard laughed as he drank a glass of wine, speaking mockingly:

"The Scarlet Horns? Man, anyone with combat knowledge could kill them… the deal was about the Black Order — did you manage to kill them?"

Lady Marianne and the two girls sat at a table. Faithless smiled and approached the fat man, speaking in a calm tone:

"The money you bet — is it here?"

The old man became flustered, slowly lowering his glass and starting to stammer:

"The money? Oh, of course it's here."

'That bastard — did he really kill the Black Order, or is he just bluffing?' The fat man muttered to himself.

Faithless went to the other bag that contained the heads of the Black Order. He slowly opened it and threw their heads on the ground.

Everyone in the tavern was stunned to the point that if you dropped a piece of cotton, you could hear it hit the floor… even that strange girl who was sitting in the dark corner put her glass aside and quietly slipped out the back door… no one noticed her, but Faithless gave her a brief glance, unconcerned with her.

Those present began talking among themselves, their eyes unable to believe what they saw… as for Lady Marianne and the two girls, they smiled quietly.

"They really are the Black Order — the black scarf that marks their identity."

"Am I dreaming or what? I want to pinch myself."

"The group that terrorized the city's residents and forced some to flee… their heads on the ground?"

"Man, seeing human heads is disgusting, but I'm torn between wanting to vomit and drinking myself to death from shock."

The fat man's glass of wine fell from his hand — he was in utter shock… even the bartender didn't know how to express how strange the situation was.

'How did he kill them? That fool is going to destroy the city with what he's done.' The old man spoke angrily to himself, thinking of unknown consequences.

Faithless pulled out a chair and sat near the old man, surprising him for a moment… Faithless placed his palm on the table, smiling a calm smile:

"I don't like taking money — I'm not a greedy man… but you made a bet, and I accepted it."

The old man reached into his pocket, slowly pulled out the money, and placed it on the table as he looked at Faithless, whose expression was cold.

"This… this is the money I bet," the fat man spoke in a nervous tone.

Faithless reached out to take the money, but the fat man held it and spoke in a worried tone as he looked around:

"You need to be careful… what you've just done is a great crime."

Faithless closed his eyes and spoke in a calm voice:

"There's no greater crime, my friend, than killing family."

Faithless took the money and threw it toward Lady Marianne, who caught it… he then went to the bartender, who handed him two bags containing the money for the Scarlet Horns and the Black Order.

"Lily, Lulia… hold these two bags well, and if even one copper coin is missing, I'll leave you both in the forest." Faithless handed them the two bags, speaking in a sarcastic tone.

"Don't worry, Sovereign, we won't let our money — I mean your money — go missing." Lulia spoke sweetly, smiling.

Faithless patted their heads with a smile… the two girls and Lady Marianne left the tavern, and Faithless followed behind them. Before he stepped out, someone stood up and called out loudly:

"Hey hunter, what's your name? So we can remember the great feat you've done."

Faithless looked back, lowered his head slightly, smiled at them, and spoke in a deep tone:

"Fate of nothing. That is my name."
