Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Tony Drago
Half an hour later, Ash emerged from the research room, meeting the expectant gazes of Dr. Oak and Uncle Samuel.
Without a word, Ash casually tossed the two white bottles he was holding toward them.
"Hey, reckless kid! You can't just throw something like this around!" Uncle Samuel exclaimed, carefully catching the bottles mid-air.
"The potion is ready," Ash said calmly.
"As for its effectiveness, it needs to be tested on a Pokémon that has lost its ability to fight. Get someone to find one so we can observe the results and collect data."
Ignoring his Uncle's complaints, Ash sank into the sofa and poured himself a glass of water.
The recent refining process had left him exhausted, even though he had completely mastered the potion's creation.
However, Ash was only seven years old, and his physical stamina had its limits.
This being his first practical attempt, he had meticulously documented every step of the refining process.
While his perfect mental control helped tremendously, mastery in practice was another matter.
Thankfully, the system's advantages allowed Ash to manage his body exceptionally well, enabling rapid improvement in his skills.
"Yes, yes, I can't wait to see the results! Quick, find a Pokémon that's completely exhausted!" Samuel said excitedly, turning to his staff and urging them to act without delay.
Before long, a Bulbasaur that had been injured in a conflict with other Pokémon was brought to the group.
"Bulba... Bulba…" The Bulbasaur groaned, its eyes swirling as it let out occasional cries of pain.
Observing the situation, Samuel carefully took a pill from the jade bottle and dissolved it in a spray solution.
Once the pill was fully mixed, Samuel applied the potion to the injured areas of the Bulbasaur.
To everyone's astonishment, as soon as the potion touched the Bulbasaur's wounds, they began to heal visibly.
Within seconds, the injuries were completely mended, leaving no scars behind.
"Bulba? Bulba Bulba!" The now-healed Bulbasaur woke from its unconscious state, glancing around in confusion before spotting Dr. Oak.
It immediately ran over to him, rubbing affectionately against his trousers.
Though the wounds were fully healed, the Bulbasaur's stamina was only partially restored.
However, as Ash had claimed, it had regained about half of its strength.
"This is incredible! Compared to anything currently on the market, this potion is revolutionary. Once released, it's bound to be a hit among novice and advanced trainers alike. And with such inexpensive ingredients, the profit margins will be substantial!" Samuel exclaimed in amazement, clearly overwhelmed by the potion's effectiveness.
"Uncle, that's how the medicine is made," Ash said with a small smile, satisfied with the results.
"When you return, have the family's feeders produce it in batches. As for how to handle profit-sharing with the League, I'll leave that decision to you."
"But Ash, you were the one who developed this medicine. You should claim at least half of the benefits!"
"There's no need to discuss this further," Ash interrupted as soon as Uncle spoke.
"Just do as I said. After all, I'm also Grandpa's grandson, and the family's success benefits me as well. That's enough for me."
Ash's tone was resolute, reflecting his trust in the fairness of the Oak family.
At least when it came to distributing benefits, the family had always been equitable, fostering a peaceful atmosphere.
"Should we involve the Drago family in this matter? After all, he is your father," Dr. Oak suggested cautiously, but Ash's response was immediate and firm.
"Grandpa, I'm Ash Oak, not Ash Drago. Don't bring up that man in front of me. He hurt my mother, and I'll ensure that he pays for it.
I'm done here. Handle things as you see fit,"
Ash replied before turning and walking home, leaving no room for further discussion.
"It's clear that Ash harbors deep resentment toward the Drago family," Dr. Oak remarked thoughtfully.
He realized that, at least for now, there was no chance of Ash ever acknowledging the Drago name.
"Huh, John Drago, the man who abandoned Delia and Ash at the beginning, I think he got what he deserved.
Ash's talent is retribution for him. When Ash fully grows up, I believe he will directly take over as the leader of our Oak clan!"
"Impossible. I know Ash. He doesn't like feeling tied down. Otherwise, when Gary returned to the city, Ash would have followed him. No matter what, Ash is my grandson by blood. As for the Drago family matters, I think I'll leave them for Ash to handle on his own!"
"The reason I brought this matter up in front of Ash was to test his attitude. Although Delia was hurt by that man in the past, I can see that Delia still holds some feelings for John Drago!"
"I even thought about introducing someone to Delia, but she never agreed. Later, the old Tony Drago contacted me, wanting John Drago to marry Delia and return them to the family."
"At first, the old Tony Drago was in seclusion, but the patriarchs of those families hadn't settled down yet; they were suppressed by the elders. Now that old man has come out of seclusion, he wants John to marry Delia. I suppose he wouldn't want to cause too much harm!"
"It's a pity that Ash is very resistant to the Drago family. Delia will definitely choose Ash over John, so this matter is truly a bit troublesome!"
After Ash left, Dr. Oak and Samuel analyzed the current situation. Tony Drago is the former patriarch of the Drago clan and holds a position similar to that of Dr. Oak!
The relationship with Dr. Oak was long-standing. When Tony Drago, Ash's grandfather, learned what had happened to John Drago and the Drago family during his time in seclusion, he was furious. He even considered bringing Delia back to the Drago clan directly. However, Dr. Oak disagreed, insisting that this decision ultimately depended on both Ash and Delia's consent.
When Ash returned home, it was just past eight o'clock. By this time, Delia was already awake.
Noticing that Ash wasn't home earlier, she guessed he had gone to Dr. Oak's research institute.
Meanwhile, Pichu had also woken up.
"Pi~~Pichu!" Pichu ran excitedly to Ash's shoulder as soon as it saw him, nuzzling his cheek affectionately to show its love.
"Alright, go play. I need to rest for now. We'll train this afternoon!" Ash said with a smile.
The frustration he felt earlier due to the Drago family was eased as Pichu's cheerful behavior lightened his mood.
Walking into the kitchen, Ash saw Delia washing the dishes. Watching her from behind, a wave of hesitation washed over him. Thoughts of revenge momentarily faltered as he reflected on his mother's quiet and silent strength.
