Chapter 57 - Guidance
Offended someone?
Chi Rong had gained quite a bit of experience in the Mech Association over the years, and she immediately sensed the unspoken meaning in his words.
Thinking about it, even without considering his position as a teacher at the intermediate academy, Mr. Carlo was still a seasoned intermediate mech engineer. In his youth, there were plenty of people who handed him job orders; in fact, there were at least half a circle of people in the permanent star system who wanted to commission him for mechs.
After he took up a teaching position, he had less time for accepting commissions, only occasionally picking and choosing among them. Even now, the mechs he created were in high demand, making him one of the more talented young mech engineers in the permanent star system.
Given his status, participating in a planetary-level competition might feel beneath him, so it was surprising that he would come here to serve as a lecturer. And with him mentioning that he had offended someone, it immediately suggested a sense of helplessness.
“Is someone forcing you, teacher?” Chi Rong quickly reacted.
Now that she had established some connections in the mech engineer sub-association, she was naturally willing to stand up for the teacher who had helped her so much in the past.
If some petty person had bullied Mr. Carlo, she would certainly not let it go if she had the ability to deal with it.
“It’s not what you think,” Carlo said, a bit amused yet also pleased. “It’s fine. I came here voluntarily because I haven’t had much to do lately; it’s been too dull, so I thought I’d come out for a change of scenery. It’s also a good opportunity to teach the kids.”
Upon hearing this, Chi Rong relaxed slightly but still felt a bit uneasy. She hesitantly asked, “Do you really not need any help, teacher? If you do, I wouldn’t hesitate to assist you.”
“You’re very thoughtful. But it’s just some unpleasantness among people; I won’t take it to heart. And who would dare bully me? I may be older than you, but I’m not so old that I’ve lost my sight, my voice, or my ability to move,” Mr. Carlo chuckled and shook his head.
Hearing this, Chi Rong surprisingly found herself in agreement. While she wasn’t sure about other things, she knew that this teacher was not a soft person; many in the industry on the permanent star system often talked about his fiery temper, saying he couldn’t tolerate even a grain of sand in his eye, a trait that was often criticized.
It was hard to believe that someone like him could be bullied and not dare to speak up.
From his expression, it was clear that something had indeed happened. However, it seemed more like what he said—that he was probably just bored and had come out to participate in such an activity to pass the time. So Chi Rong quickly relaxed and began to engage in conversation with this teacher she hadn’t seen in many years, asking for his knowledge.
Mr. Carlo was also glad to see this long-lost student. However, after a while, he remembered his purpose for coming and expressed a desire to go down and see how the participating children were progressing in their learning. He bid farewell to Chi Rong and headed downstairs.
Watching Carlo leave, Chi Rong’s smile and admiration faded considerably, and her expression became somewhat pale. She then bid farewell to Mr. Trean and turned to leave the conference hall. On her way, it seemed she connected to a holographic communication device, hurrying off to unknown business.

Meanwhile, Jiang Hui was still struggling to build the main structure of her mech. Although she had listened attentively before and tried to remember everything the teacher had explained, she could barely make sense of it.
Watching others work and doing it herself were completely different experiences, and the actual operation was exceedingly difficult.
For example, she knew that the two small frames inside the mech were supposed to be connected. But when she actually tried to join them together, she found that her grasp of the assembly angle was a bit off, and no matter how she adjusted it, she couldn’t get the two sides to fit perfectly together.
This frustrated Jiang Hui, like seeing a road but being unable to accurately find the entrance, which made her feel anxious and irritable.
She looked at the disassembly sequence on the screen again and confirmed that it indeed showed the two components needed to be connected before proceeding to the next step.
Jiang Hui gritted her teeth and tried again twice, but still failed.
They say failure is the mother of success, but how long had she been stuck on this? She had finished the main structure on both sides a long time ago, but she was stuck on this small part, and Jiang Hui was starting to lose her patience. She felt a growing frustration, as if she just couldn’t find the right approach, which made things seem very uncoordinated.
As she was about to attempt once more, her gaze suddenly swept over and noticed two small, scattered parts in the upper right corner. A spark of inspiration flashed in her mind, and her hands instinctively reached for them.
Here… right, it should be positioned about 0.1 micrometers to the side… slightly adjust downwards… yes, this angle… just a little more… just a tiny bit… good, just like that.
Jiang Hui gradually entered a focused state. Her eyes widened slightly, and her hands, which had just gone through countless adjustments, showed no sign of shaking as she carefully held the small parts and slowly aligned the two sides together.
She didn’t even realize that her palms were beginning to sweat.
…It’s almost successful, Jiang Hui felt.
“Wait a moment, classmate.” A voice suddenly interrupted her, causing her hand to jerk and ruin her progress. The delicate, mysterious feeling she had just experienced was instantly shattered.
Several parts that she had almost managed to assemble together also shifted out of alignment due to her sudden distraction.
Jiang Hui was furious. Who was it? How could they disturb her just as she was about to succeed?
Although she couldn’t quite explain why she felt this way, she truly had the sense that she was on the verge of success—if she could just fit those few parts together, everything would fall into place.
The girl turned to look at the person who had spoken, eager to see who was interrupting her progress, only to find a face that was unfamiliar yet slightly familiar.
She tilted her head slightly. Um… this face seemed to belong to the teacher who had just given her the lecture.
Ah, the teacher?!
Why is he here? Jiang Hui’s first reaction was this; she was somewhat confused.
Mr. Carlo also seemed surprised, realizing that he had startled her. “Did I scare you, child? Sorry, I just wanted to remind you.”
“The angle you’re using to install the parts is incorrect. You should assemble the two larger sections first and then attach those two small parts. This way, it will be more accurate. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to adjust to the right angle, and the results may not be stable.”
Knowing that he wasn’t here to criticize her but rather to guide her, Jiang Hui couldn’t help but ease her anger. “Um… oh, I understand. Thank you, teacher.”
Her earlier frustration seemed to dissipate immediately, although she still felt disappointed about the progress that had been disrupted. But the teacher was right; she indeed felt that adjusting the angles was quite challenging. Following his advice would likely yield better results, especially since she wasn’t a professional.
Mr. Carlo then guided Jiang Hui through some minor issues in her assembly process, which helped her greatly, allowing her to complete the main shell assembly in no time.
