The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 40: Lord

'We are not alone? I've been discovered!'

Kael jumped out of his hiding spot and started running as if he were possessed towards the area with the thickest fog, where he could hide himself in.

"An outsider? How much has he seen?"

The doll-masked young woman pointed her pale, soft-looking hand towards the running Kael and rubbed her fingers together.

She did something, and Kael's right arm started to turn stiff—from his fingers to his elbow, a layer of white skin appeared and spread—it made it so that he couldn't control his arm anymore.

With some hand signals, the doll-masked young woman started controlling the right arm, and with his own arm, Kael punched himself in the face.

Smack!

It made him stumble down a small hill, rolling like a ball, and eventually coming to a stop at the bottom.

"Damn…!"

With a flicked wrist, Kael summoned the black revolver and just blindly shot at the first thing he saw, but it was a flying crow.

However, since he missed it either way, the crow flew away unscathed and into the darkness of the night.

He then looked at his left arm—wondering what the hell that white skin was—and tried peeling it off.

The skin came off, rather easily, as if it was made out of soft clay, and his real flesh was unharmed underneath.

In that moment, roots of the tree shot out of the ground, wrapped around his limbs, and pulled him down to the ground.

"Argh!"

The smallest root wrapped around his throat, tightened its grip, cutting off his air supply, and made him gasp for breath.

"Hmm~ Who might you be? A faceless one? You're not an illusionist, or I would be able to see your real face…"

A rabbit-masked man stood behind him. He twirled a cane in hand, pressed it against Kael's forehead, and smiled wickedly behind the mask.

"A-Ah…"

Kael let out a breathless gasp, and at that moment, the featureless face of his started to have an outline of eyes—they were misty, as if smoking—and with those magical eyes, he was able to see something interesting.

Words started to appear above the rabbit-masked man. They were just hovering in the air.

'Words… W-What do they say?'

Kael tried looking at the floating words, and soon, he was able to make sense of the mysterious words.

[Name: Alec Veyne]

[Pathway: Stealth]

[Level: 6]

[Class: Great Illusionist]

'W-What… Is this the information about the rabbit-masked man? Level 6, what a monster, but Great Illusionist?

'Illusion…'

Kael looked at the roots wrapped around his limbs, frowned, and just closed his eyes, waiting for the illusion to fade.

At that moment, the tight feeling around his neck disappeared, and when he opened his eyes, the illusion was all gone.

"Oh?"

Alec raised an eyebrow, and at that moment, Kael crafted a bullet, put it inside the chamber, and pointed the revolver at the rabbit mask.

With a squeeze of the trigger, a bullet flew out of the barrel, and Alec tilted his head to the side as he watched it hit the tree behind him.

"Outlaw?"

Alec picked up Kael and tossed him up the hill—when he landed back on the ground, he tried crawling away but stopped as a pair of legs stood before him.

"…"

The pale rider looked at him coldly and asked.

"Why are you here, outsider? What is your purpose here?"

The words had a strange effect on Kael, and it felt like words were trying to burst out of his mouth unwillingly.

'Leader…'

With shaky eyes, he looked at the pale rider with the misty eyes and again saw words appear in the air above him.

[Name: Rune Klythe]

[Pathway: Leader]

[Level: 6]

[Class: High Inquisitor]

"I… I don't have purpose here. I-I don't know where the hell I am. I-I just appeared in some graveyard, and I met you there… I thought you were Rav'akari, so I didn't want to stay around that place with you there, so I came here!"

The words forcefully left Kael's mouth.

'This is even worse than my other encounters with Leaders. I won't even be able to talk myself, so I won't be able to trick the Leader's powers with half-truths!'

Rune frowned, thought about something, and then heard footsteps behind him—he turned around and saw four people walking over to him.

"He came here with a ritual, it looks like."

A man with a crow mask said. Uplоаdеd by thе М|V|L(ЕМРYR) tеаm.

With misty eyes, Kael checked the names above his head.

[Name: Eron Mordant]

[Pathway: Fighter]

[Level: 5]

[Class: Ironheart]

"Hmm, this is the first time that outsider has come here. I can tell that he is the Blessed One of Whitesky."

The woman with the starry mask said.

Without further ado, Kael checked the words above her head as well.

[Name: Morgana Cresswell]

[Pathway: Mystic]

[Level: 6]

[Class: Scared Gazer]

"What should we do now~"

A woman with a mask of a screaming person tapped her finger against her cheek and looked curiously at the faceless person.

Kael looked at her.

[Name: Lyrian Nachtvale]

[Pathway: Alchemist]

[Level: 4]

[Class: Brewer of the Midnight Elixir]

Kael shook to his feet, gritted his teeth, and looked at them all with a shaky gaze—however, with his faceless self, they couldn't tell what he was thinking about.

"Wait… Faceless?"

A shocked voice came.

With a pretty voice, the doll-masked young woman walked past the others and looked straight into his faceless self.

It was clear that something surprised her.

[Name: Melia Delacroix]

[Pathway: Summoner]

[Level: 6]

[Class: Dollmaker]

'She is a dollmaker? I guess she was trying to make me into a doll of hers? All of them are frightening people!'

Kael thought with a serious look.

"You know him, Doll?"

Morgana asked.

"Ah… ah… ah…"

Melia's hands shook, and she then dropped to one knee—her head bowed—and she put her hand against her chest.

"My Lord, you've finally returned!"

Kael looked at her kneeling self, frowned deeply, and felt strange, as this was the first time anyone had kneeled before him like this.

'Lord? Is she mistaking me for someone because of my faceless self?'

"W-Wait, Lord? Y-You think it's him? It's really him? It cannot be. Now, out of nowhere?"

Morgana asked with a trembling voice.

With a heavy knee, Alec also dropped to the ground and bowed deeply with a look of shock.

"What are you all doing? How have you all already forgotten? Lord of the Realm Between is said to look faceless to those who are unworthy to see him!

"And Lord of the Realm Between reincarnated himself with the Bullet of the Reincarnation!

"He must be him!"

Melia said with an excited look and lifted her gaze to him with a look of love—she breathed heavily—and she kneeled so deep that her head almost touched the ground.

"I'll prove it to you all. How old are you, my Lord?"

"Eighteen…"

Kael said.

With a gasp, the rest of the masked figures also knelt on the ground and bowed so deep that their heads touched the ground.

"Our Lord!"
