The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 38: Ritual of the Realm Between

'Ore Hacker, huh? Not a type of job that I would enjoy doing, but a job is a job, I suppose, but before I am stuck with that, of course I'll try to find a better job first.'

Kael thought to himself.

At that moment, they again heard some of the girl voices—one voice made Kael slightly jump—it was because the voice sounded quite a bit like Alice's.

However, after hearing it a little bit more, he realized that it was just Ivy's voice, sounding quite happy on the other side of the wall.

'Right… Alice and my parents must've already found out that I have gone to Whitesky. I wonder what their reactions were…'

He shook his head, saw that some of the boys left the bath, sat on one of the stools, and started washing themselves with the soap provided.

"By the way, what's that Curse Class about exactly? Cursed objects, you said?"

Kael asked.

Before Finn could say it himself, the sun-touched Julian chimed in.

"It's a class about Cursed Artifacts. Ever heard of them? It's important to know about them as the Blessed One because you can come across them.

"Miss Angelica has one of the Cursed Artifacts herself, but the weakest kind of Harmless Grade. It's a small, inconspicuous pendant that she wears around her neck.

"It's a protective charm that wards off evil spirits, but since it is a Cursed Artifact, it can also attract them.

"A while back, one evil spirit just smashed through the class window and wreaked havoc, but then that pendant warded off the spirit."

Listening intensely, Kael nodded and rubbed his chin—he wondered whether it would be better just not to wear the pendant—he didn't think that meeting evil spirits would be an everyday occurrence.

"Cursed Artifacts are really dangerous, I am telling you. The Empire of Humans used to have seven main cities, but apparently, a child that is no older than eight brought a seemingly harmless toy to Hermann City.

"It was a small wooden horse figurine with a red ribbon tied around its neck, but within days of its arrival, strange occurrences started happening.

"First, those of old age started dying. It was like their lifespan got reduced. And when they were lowered into their graves, a few nights later, they woke back up.

"However, they were craving human flesh, and slowly, more and more people in the town started to disappear without a trace.

"A zombie epidemic had begun, and it only took like a few days to bring the city down to its knees.

"When the Blessed Ones got infected, they became super zombies, and thus, the Emperor just pulled the plug and put the city on lockdown.

"They tried killing as many as they could, but of course, it was impossible to get them all, and to this day, Hermann City is a place where you shouldn't go, as there are still zombies roaming its streets.

"Luckily, the zombies can't leave the city because if they leave the area where the Calamity Horse is located, they disintegrate into ash."

Elias said.

'I already knew the Cursed Artifacts were dangerous; the crimson book proved it, but compared to something like Calamity Horse, it's nothing.

'I still should be extremely careful with it, and I definitely shouldn't use it unless I want early death. I need to find out more about it before I start using it.'

Kael thought to himself.

With the steam turning thicker, Kael left the bath, washed himself with the bucket of water, and scrubbed the soap vigorously on his skin.

After he was done, he returned back to the changing room, put some of his dirty clothes back on, as he lacked any change of clothes, and then left the bathhouse feeling refreshed and clean.

In front of him, the rest of the boys walked, and they came across the girls, who had also finished bathing, and threw some flirtatious chatting in their direction.

The girls just rolled their eyes and left.

'I'll need to take a visit to the town tomorrow to purchase some clothes. If I go to the class in these clothes, the sensitive-nosed Miss Angelica will throw me straight out.

'Sigh, but for now, Realm Between…'

Kael, with excitement coursing through his veins, entered his room and started the preparations for the quick ritual.

With the four objects on the four corners of the room, he walked backwards till he was in the center of the room and put his hands together. Sourced directly from MV6LEMP6YR.

"Realm Between~ Realm Between~ Home Sweet Home~"

With a whisper in his tone, he walked squarely through the center, ending up back where he started.

He bowed to the four corners of the room.

"Iris Coin!"

"Half-Eaten Bread!"

"My Hair Strand!"

"Upside-Down Chair!"

He clapped his hands, gulped, and closed his eyes to wait for the magic to happen.

However, seconds passed, and he half-opened his eyes—he was still inside his dark room—and it looked like the ritual again failed.

"Why? What the hell am I doing wrong?"

Kael scratched his hair, trying to remember if he had missed a step, and tried shaking his brain for any possible errors.

'I did it correctly… Unless my dream showed the wrong version. Do I really need to go talk with Ivy? But how come everything else is correct except that?'

Frustration welled in his heart.

At that moment, it looked like a darker shadow fell over the room—the windows were uncurtained, but it seemed like curtains just had been drawn.

However, through the small gap under the window, a mist seemed to roll in, and the room grew colder.

The mist was so thick that it obscured the edges of the furniture, and Kael's eyes strained to make out any shapes in the darkness.

'Mist? What the hell?'

The mist enveloped him thoroughly, and he felt an icy chill seep into his bones—he tried opening the door to leave the room, but the doorknob was ice cold and wouldn't turn.

Kael's eyes shook.

With that, he disappeared into the mist, and through the gap in the window, the mist slowly seeped out, and the room turned back to normal.

Yet, the young man was nowhere to be seen.
