The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 22: Mourning Group

The sky had turned dark, and the clinking of the silverware filled the Mizuchi household as they were seated around the dinner table.

The forks clattered against the plates, the knives cut through the tender meat, and the glasses were filled with juice and water.

"…"

Alissa sipped her water and looked at Kael with a twitching eyebrow—there was an awkward atmosphere—and Zach just focused on his food.

With a blank expression, Alice stared out the window, lost in thought, and she hadn't even touched the food much.

With the last bite, Kael finished eating, stood up, and took his own plates to the sink.

"Kael, once you've washed your plates, go to your room, and stay there. I can't believe that you bombed your classroom!"

Alissa said.

Her brows were knitted with worry, and she knew that people deal with grief in their own way, but they never expected him to do something so crazy.

They had been receiving angry phone calls from the parents of other students because they came back home covered in glitter.

"I didn't bomb the classroom. It was just a little glitter, and they make it sound like it's the end of the world…"

Kael washed the plates in the sink, scrubbed them hard with a sponge, and placed them in the drying rack to air dry.

"Do not argue with me, son. Your little prank made it so that they couldn't hold their classes over there. It took them all day just to clean the classroom, and you just skipped school!"

"Sigh…"

Finished with washing, Kael went to his room and shut the door behind him.

He lay on his bed, stared at the ceiling for a solid five minutes, and then he became bored—he went and placed the Iris coin, a hair strand, an upside-down chair, and half-eaten bread in the four corners of the room.

With that done, he started walking around the room in a square—he kept clapping his hands together—and then he started singing.

"Realm Between~ Realm Between~ Home Sweet Home~"

He finished walking square and then bowed in the four corners of the room—he said Iris Coin, Half-Eaten Bread, My Hair Strand, and Upside-Down Chair.

With that, he clapped once more, closed his eyes, and when he opened his eyes again, he was still stuck inside his room.

"Whatever…"

Kael took his phone from the charger, picked up the chair, and sat down before going to check the net.

He watched some nonsense videos and surfed through social media, and as he was about to close his phone because he grew bored, he thought about something.

Out of curiosity, he went to check Whitesky forums—or more specifically, the mourning thread—there, people were sharing stories of their deceased loved ones.

They started with talking about the lives of their loved ones and then about the way they died—some died in the hands of wild animals, of creatures, and of Rav'akari.

He was more curious about the deaths in the hands of Rav'akari, and each one was more terrifying than the last.

He could feel the immense sadness behind each of the typed words, and it was clear whoever wrote these posts also wanted to pick up the sword and avenge their loved ones.

The most hated thing in the world to them was Rav'akari, and they wanted to make them suffer.

"I feel their pain…"

Kael thought out loud.

And then he saw something interesting.

A person was holding a mourning group of sorts—he was asking everyone to join—and it looked like he held it every week.

"It's held in Rask… In an hour from now on."

Kael checked the time on his phone, then went back to the forum, wrote down the address on a piece of paper, and then pocketed his phone.

After opening his drawer, he brought out the Whitesky coin and rolled it between his fingers for a moment.

"I know I told Thomas that I would never go back to that place, but I am troubled. I do kind of want to visit that mourning group."

He moved the rug aside, tossed it aside, and stood in the center of the room with the coin in hand.

'I can't leave the house without anyone noticing, and when using Whitesky coin, it will leave behind a little mess, but I think I can clean it.'

Kael thought, then tossed the coin into his mouth and swallowed it whole.

Through the empty air behind him, the purple mist came and enveloped his body—it turned his skin a ghostly shade of violet and then sucked him inside.

With him gone, the purple mist fell to the ground, made a small area in the floor purple, and left behind a mark of mysterious origin.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Kael walked down the stone steps, a thin-brimmed hat covering his eyes, and a brown overcoat swaying with each step.

He reached the bottom of the steps, made his way down the alleyway tucked behind some tall buildings, and illuminated with some lamps lining the walls.

"This is the place…"

Kael held a piece of paper and saw a dusty brown door with a tarnished gold doorknob and the number "321" etched into it.

He stuffed the paper back into his breast pocket and knocked on the door.

"Who's there?"

A deep voice sounded behind the door.

'What's with the secrecy? Isn't it just a normal mourning group? It's not illegal, now is it?'

Kael frowned and said,

"I've come for the mourning group; is this the correct location? Apartment 321 of Kux Alleyway? This is that place, correct?"

The door opened, and a brown-eyed man looked outside—he wore a fedora and a trench coat—he looked like he made sure that no one followed him.

"Yes, this is the place…"

He said, let Kael enter the house, and then closed the door tightly.

'Is this really the right place? Why is he acting so strangely?' Love this story? Show support at MV2LEMPYR.

Kael wondered, followed behind the man, and he led him down to the basement—he even began thinking that he was going to get kidnapped or something.

However, they weren't alone in the basement—it was well-lit, and there was a group of people seated already there.

With a quick count, he realized there were at least fifteen people in the room.

"Welcome, young man. Please, take the seat!"

Raheem said with a smile—he had dark brown hair, gentle eyes, and arched brows—he looked like a warm person at first glance.

Kael nodded and sat in one of the empty chairs.

"It looks like everyone has arrived. Shall we begin the meeting?"

Raheem said with a smile and brought out a crimson-covered book from the back—it had an eye in the center, and it was moving and blinking.

It was unsettling to look at.

'What the hell…?'
