16. The Golem Creation Set
“Hey, Gustav.”
”Hey.”
”So, this will take a bit longer. I had two ideas for a unit which can help you. One will be less useful right now, so I would recommend the Little Earth Turtle. One is a magic using turtle wich attacks Enemy from the distance. The other buries itself and changes the terrain to the disadvantage of intruders and advantage of your monsters.”
”Ohh, how cool. Can I see them?”
Gustav begins to get excited at the prospect of what the Monster can do.
”Sure, this one is the Buried Earthen Turtle. I already said what it does.
Since it buries itself, it will be hard for intruders to dispose of this one. It can sense through the Ground were Person are, so do t expect perfect accuracy in the modification of the ground.
The transition also isn’t instant, so it will be unlikely to open a pitfall under someone and be successful.
It can be possible to avoid being detected when one’s goes carefully and softly over the ground.
Still, having unstable footing or escape route blocked can be fatal.”
”The Little Earth Turtle aims from a distance of roughly 150 Meters at enemies. For distance, it has two projectile spells.
One for constant attacks and one which hits heavy. Another on to modify the ground a bit to be harder to traverse.
But don’t expect much from that one, good footwear can negate it.
It also has a spell for self protection and one to easier traverse rocky grounds.”
”The Buried Earthen Turtle would be 18500 Gold and the Little Earth Turtle 9300 Gold.”
”Expensive, but understandable. It’s a complete new unit I don’t have to choose if it doesn’t fit.
But why recommending the Little Earth Turtle?”
Gustav has a glint in his Eyes that says how excited he is. He even says something that most don’t understand in a tone of voice as if he would secretly consider buying both.
But his tone gets sceptical as he asks the question.
So that he has to buy the other on too, since it’s better and she earns money from both? Or maybe words?
”First, you can look at the brochure to get a better picture of their performance.
Second, since the Buried Earthen Turtle is a support unit. You aren’t at a stage with your Earth parts we’re support will make a bigger difference then an attacker.
The opposite actually, you current monster cant do some things and you don’t have any other to compensate for it.
The Buried Earthen Turtle would only make them better at what they already can do.
And it’s to easily avoided. How many would you need to guarantee that intruders will be inside the zone when fighting a Monster?
I heard it from Layla, your dungeon is vast and has a low Monster-per-square-Quadrat-rate.”
”Ughh, I see what you mean. But still, the Buried Earthen Turtle could guarantee sure-kill if I place them right and intruders walk in.
So I should invest in something that will be worth it for sure.”
”Didn’t you listen? The change isn’t instant, so when the Intruders aren’t distracted, they will be able to see what going on.
Only someone lacking a sense of danger would still fight when he can’t retread and some unseen force helps his enemies.”
”You mean that he has big potential, but I can’t draw it out?”
“Currently yes. It will change with time. But when you are averse to buy the Little Earth Turtle, then that’s it.”
”No, I’ll buy it.”
With that, Gustav leaves, jumping a bit from excitement and looking forward to the results.
He is gone, now. He was a bit weird. Let his feeling heavily bleed into his voice and expression.
His whole behaviour indicated that he likes combat and make a strong dungeon defence.
But his speech pattern indicates that he thinks things through and uses his head.
Better then the Lich, and his rational behaviour makes him easy to deal with.
Just how it misfits with everything else of him can be distracting.
”Well, that just leaves you and me.”
Chloe says to the Buried Earthen Turtle. It’s a bit weird.
Until sold, the original body will be still there, but she can always “deactivate” them.
The Monster will then just stand here. No heartbeat, no breathing, no need for eat or sleep.
Just standing there, until “activated” again and reacting as of nothing happened.
Chloe puts the little one on her desk in the Bedroom and does exactly that.
Now, it’s time for her biggest project.
And she even has an idea what she wants to do. She has one before, but it’s more clear now.
First, she takes a small Water Magic Stone and a tiny Wind Sorcery Stone.
The reason? She needs a Magic Stone to create a Golem Core in the Golem Creation Set.
For that, she want to put in two stones, one being a sorcery stone.
It might be stupid, but anything she got as a Hint to use that thing are some fast scribbled texted and sketches.
And it doesn’t feel impossible.
True to her intention, it worked.
Just maybe eve better than intended.
A Golem Core is normally a ball, sometimes a Quader or Zylinder.
This one, changes shaped constantly. It grows seemingly like a crystal, just fast enough that you can see the change.
The base seems somewhat like a ball, but grows crystal one structures everywhere or looses mass at the opposite side.
Identify shows a Golem Core wich has Water and Wind Mana and is very weird.
In a Golem Core, there is only one type of Mana, and this Two try to combine.
But Water and Wind Magic isn’t Ice Magic. The Two types of Mana should “experience” things, which will then combine.
If both Manas mainly traveled in fogs, they would be Fog Mana, if the were mainly in cold biome, it would end in Ice, Frost or snow Mana.
Maybe Rain Mana and so on.
But in this case, neither Mana experienced something, so it can’t combine.
Not to say that the Wind Mana is optimised for Sorcery and the Water for Magic.
Ignoring the Level up from identify, which levelled in slow pace but now got two levels, Chloe is very satisfied with the result.
It means, she can imprint combinations however she likes. Maybe she can combine the Mana, but make it two-faced?
Like having a sorcery Wind aspect and a magic Water aspect of the core. Wind cools down and spreads the fog, while Water manages the body, skill and regeneration of the golem.
It’s stupid. But she thinks she has a real chance.
Chloe gives the core a bit of Mind Mana. No matter how she looks, Water and Wind can’t combine to Mind.
Then, she transmitters through the Mana, the image of a fog. A fog one can hardly see through, which is cool.
A chilly wind keeps everything cool and spreads the fog further and back in place where one waved the fog away.
Always again and again. She also images morning dew. Morning dew woch gets a cooled down and then absorbed onto the Fog.
She waits a bit. The Fog Mana begins to form. Then she sends a sensation of air humidity.
How she equals morning dew with the humidity in the Air.
As it finishes, she has her Golem Core.
A mostly round core, seemingly made from very fine tiny crystals, instead of being on big thing.
Identify states that this is an Eternal Fog Core.
Won’t it be too expensive for Layla?
