016 - Attacked by an Ancient Dragon but Easily Defeated
Suddenly, I woke up.
“Huh…? Where is this…?”
I sat up and realized I was in the bedroom of a log cabin.
I had been lying on the fluffy king-size bed I bought from KAmizon.
“Me…”
“Moo…”
“…”
The baby Fenrirs were curled up and sleeping beside me.
That’s strange. I thought I was eating lunch outside…
I glanced out the window. It was pitch dark.
“No way… Did I sleep all the way until night?”
If I was outside but now indoors, someone from my group must have carried me here.
“What time is it…?”
I unplugged my phone from its charger and checked the time.
“4 a.m.?!”
No way… I slept from the afternoon until the next day?
“I overslept…”
Well, even if I did, there’s no need to panic. Unlike when I was on Earth or back at the Black Palace, I don’t have any work now.
“…”
A small figure popped up.
“Good morning, Tomato-kun.”
Tomato-kun appeared out of nowhere and climbed onto the bed, holding a letter in his hands.
“Huh? A letter…?”
On the notepad I bought from KAmizon, something was written.
“It’s in the language of this world. Let’s see… ‘I’m off hunting. -Felmar.’”
Impressive. You’re already working hard since morning.
I put on my jacket and knit cap (also from KAmizon) and stepped outside. I decided to leave the baby Fenrirs in the care of my companions.
The outside air was chilly against my skin, but it wasn’t overly cold or painful.
“Where’s that nice smell coming from…?”
In front of the tent I bought for Felmar and the other Fenrirs, there was a camping chair and table. On the table sat a coffee machine.
Next to it, Chef Carrot was making a hot sandwich on a gas burner.
He must have thought I’d wake up hungry and prepared breakfast for me.
“You’re all so reliable.”
The vegetable spirits, delighted by the praise, jumped and did backflips.
I sank into the camping chair and waited for breakfast.
The mountain air was fresh, but something bothered me.
“The weather isn’t great.”
Outside the dragon vein area, the sky was covered by thick clouds, making it impossible to see the morning sun.
It’s a shame. My companions had prepared a nice breakfast, and I wanted to enjoy it with a good view.
“Oh, maybe I can look it up on the omniscient internet.”
I pulled out my phone and typed, “How to fix bad weather.”
One result came up: **Weather Control Spell: Control Weather**.
It seems there’s a magic spell that can control the weather. Of course, in another world, magic can do anything.
And I happen to have an affinity for all magic. That means I can use this spell too.
Come to think of it, I’ve never actually used magic since coming to this world. Since I have the affinity, maybe I should try it.
“Alright, let’s give it a shot… To use ‘Control Weather’ I need to—”
Just then…
*Whooooosh!*
“Huh? What?!”
I was stunned.
“The sky… is clearing up?”
Just moments ago, the eastern sky was covered by thick snow clouds. But in an instant, the clouds vanished, and a bright blue sky stretched out endlessly.
“No way. Did the magic activate? Why? I didn’t do anything yet…”
Then…
“Saint!”
Felmar, in his Fenrir form, came running toward me, carrying a large bundle on his back. It looked like he had returned from hunting.
“Amazing, Saint! I can’t believe you can use **Superclass Magic**!”
“Super…class…magic? What’s that?”
“It is magic that transcends human understanding and interacts with the world itself.”
“Magic that interacts with the world… So, it’s really powerful magic?”
“Yes! They say no one has used Superclass Magic in over 1,000 years, not since the ancient great sage, Noar!”
Superclass Magic seemed to be an extremely rare form of magic.
“To think you could use a special magic that even talented wizards can’t learn no matter how much they train!”
I guess it is impressive. But since I have the omniscient internet, I can use any kind of power, even rare magic like this.
It seems the spell activated just by me mentioning its name.
“I’m shocked too! To think you wiped out the snow clouds covering **Sapphire Silver Dragon Mountain**!”
“Sapphire Silver Dragon Mountain…? What’s that?”
“It’s the name of this mountain where you live, Saint. It’s always covered in thick snow clouds year-round.”
So, that’s what this place was called. I’ve been living here so contentedly that I never really cared where it was.
“Why is it called Dragon Mountain?”
“Because an ancient dragon, the **Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon**, has lived here since ancient times.”
…An ancient dragon? In web novels, those are usually ridiculously strong monsters.
“Is it safe? I mean, what if it attacks?”
After such a flashy display of magic, I couldn’t help but worry that the Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon might be startled and attack.
“No need to worry. Unlike other ancient dragons, the Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon is fairly docile.”
“It won’t attack? You’re sure?”
“Yes, absolutely.”
I guess it’s fine then.
“Thanks for your hard work hunting. Let’s have breakfast?”
“Yes! Thank you for the meal!”
That’s when it happened.
*GROOOAARRRRR!*
Suddenly, a beast’s roar echoed from somewhere.
“That’s… a dragon’s roar!”
“It’s not the Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon, is it…? It sounds angry…”
“I-I’m terribly sorry! This is strange… The Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon should be a calm creature…”
I heard the sound of wind slicing through the air.
“Is it coming this way?”
“D-don’t worry! I-I will protect you, Saint! Even if it costs me my life!”
“No, don’t die…! For now, let’s retreat inside the house.”
“Found you!”
With a loud crash, a massive dragon appeared over the treetops. Its blue, sapphire-like scales sparkled in the morning sun, and its large wings spread wide.
Its scales glimmered beautifully in the sunlight.
“Okay, [Appraisal].”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blizzardmaru
Species: Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon
Level: 500
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A level 500 dragon. That’s definitely twice Felmar’s level.
But I’m level 9999, so I didn’t feel that intimidated.
“You! Were you the one who used Superclass Magic?!”
The Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon roared, and a fierce blizzard blew toward us. Felmar stood in front of me to shield me, but…
“Waaah!”
Felmar was easily blown away.
“Felmar!”
Luckily, my companions were there to catch her before she hit the ground. Thank goodness she didn’t crash into the earth.
…But this dragon hurt my precious companion. I felt more than a little annoyed.
“This place belongs to the **Aurora God Tuatha Dé**! Leave at once!”
“Aurora God? I don’t really get it, but this is my land.”
“What nonsense! How dare you defile the domain of the Aurora God! I, Blizzardmaru, shall punish you! Prepare yourself!”
The Sapphire Silver Dragon Blizzard Dragon spread its wings and charged straight toward me…
“Lady Saint! It’s dangerous! Please run!”
“Die!”
Clang!
“Fughh!”
The Azure Silver Dragon, Blizzard Dragon, suddenly froze mid-air.
It seemed like it had hit something.
Just like that, it started to slide down.
“Oh, right, this is a Dragon Vein Land—monsters can’t enter here.”
Fermaah couldn’t enter here at first, either.
Apparently, the magic of the Dragon Vein creates a barrier that prevents monsters from entering.
“Ugh…”
The battle ended before it even began…
“To think that you defeated such a terrifying ancient dragon in one blow…!”
Fermaah looked at me with sparkling eyes.
No, I didn’t defeat it. It just self-destructed…
“But, why was it so mad? It kept saying something about the territory of the Aurora God.”
Who’s the Aurora God?
“Yawn… Miiikaa… Good morrrning~”
The useless goddess came out of the log house, yawning.
Despite all the noise outside, she managed to sleep through it all until now.
“Huh? Why is my familiar lying there?”
…Wait, what? Your familiar?
