015 - The Paradise is Complete
I decided to get out of the bath.
I had soaked in it for quite a long time, so my body felt nice and warm.
With the alcohol in my system, I was feeling light and happy.
When I went to the changing room, Tomato-kun was there, waiting with his familiars.
“Oh, Tomato-kun. What’s up?”
“……!” *snap!*
The familiars handed me a towel.
Oh, I realized I had forgotten to bring a change of clothes.
I gratefully accepted it.
“Lady Saint! This cloth we received from your familiar is incredible!”
Well, it’s more of a towel than just “cloth.”
“It’s so soft! I’ve never touched something so fluffy in my life!”
Well, there’s no fabric softener in this world. No synthetic fibers, either. So, it’s not surprising that Fenrir from another world would be amazed.
“That’s not just cloth; it’s a towel. It’s for drying your body and hair.”
“I see! With this, I can absorb moisture without damaging my skin! Amazing!”
Since Felma is from this world, she is constantly surprised by Japanese products. It’s kind of amusing to watch.
“Oh! Lady Mika, you bought this dryer on KAmizon too!”
There’s a mirror and a sink in the changing room. On top of the sink was a hairdryer.
“Actually, I didn’t buy it. I think Tomato-kun probably bought it for me.”
I’ve given Tomato-kun permission to buy anything he thinks is necessary.
He must’ve bought the dryer after realizing that the area had become a leyline site, thinking it would be useful for drying my hair.
Felma and I were drying our hair with towels while the useless goddess turned on the hairdryer.
*Foooooooon!*
“?! Is it an enemy attack?!”
Felma dropped to all fours, ready for battle.
“No, no, it’s not an enemy. It’s just the useless goddess drying her hair with the dryer.”
We moved over to the sink. Conveniently, there were two more dryers.
“This. When you press the switch, hot air comes out.”
*Foooooooon!*
“This wind doesn’t burn my skin! I can dry my hair without scorching it! Incredible!”
While Felma marveled, I started drying my hair.
“Would you grant me the honor of drying your hair, Lady Saint?”
“Really? Thanks.”
*Paaa!*
…Huh? What was that just now…?
Felma seemed to glow for a moment… was it just my imagination?
“Lady Saint, please have a seat!”
Felma wagged her tail furiously, patting the seat by the sink.
I was a little curious, but it was probably nothing. I sat down, and Felma started drying my hair.
This is so relaxing…
While waiting, I occupied myself by drying the little Fenrirs’ fur with a towel.
“Meow!” “Mew!” “……”
“Everyone’s fur is so fluffy now, huh?”
Thanks to the shampoo and conditioner, their fur had become soft and fluffy.
“Lady Saint, even though your hair is so long, it’s already dry! This hairdryer is truly a marvelous tool!”
“Yeah, thanks for drying my hair.”
*Paaa!*
…Huh? It glowed again…?
“Lady Mika, since your hair is dry, shall we go back now? I’m starving!”
“Alright, alright. Felma, take the little Fenrirs back to the log house first. Come after you’ve dried your hair.”
So, the useless goddess and I returned to the log house. It was probably around noon.
I was starting to feel hungry too.
“Hey, useless goddess.”
“What’s up?”
“You know, Felma was glowing earlier. Do you know why?”
“Maybe she received a reward for serving her goddess?”
“A reward for serving… her goddess?”
“Yep. Familiars gain strength as a reward when they serve a god.”
“What kind of strength?”
“Probably magic power?”
“Oh, I see… That makes sense now.”
I had been wondering about it. Felma said that maintaining her human form consumed a lot of magic power.
Yet she had remained in human form for quite a while now.
Apparently, by serving me as a goddess, she had received magic power.
That’s why she was able to keep her human form.
Thinking back, every time she glowed, it was after doing something for me, and I thanked her.
“That applies to the vegetable familiars too, right?”
“Of course! They’ve been getting magic power from you all along. That’s why, even though they’re tiny, they’re far stronger than most high-rank adventurers.”
“I-I see…”
Tomato-kun was sitting on my shoulder, flexing his tiny arms.
Even though he’s so small, he’s stronger than high-rank adventurers…
After a while, we arrived at the log house, where a table had been set up in the yard.
It was a camping table, and on top of it was a large stew pot and a basket of baguettes.
“Is that… a carrot familiar?”
“Yep, that’s the carrot familiar, Chef Carrot.”
Chef Carrot had a little chef’s hat on top of their head.
“Chef Carrot, thank you for preparing lunch.”
“……” *blush blush*
“And is that… stew?”
“……” *nod*
A delicious aroma was wafting from the pot—a rich, cheesy smell that made my mouth water.
“Meow!” “Mew!” “……!”
The little Fenrirs ran toward us, clinging to the table legs.
It seems they were drawn in by the smell too.
“Wait! You can’t leave your mother behind!”
Felma, still in her human form, ran over to us.
“Felma, it’s okay to wear something more casual after a bath, you know.”
Felma was dressed in her maid uniform, standing firmly at attention. Meanwhile, I was in a KAmizon sweat outfit with a white down jacket on top.
“No, I’m on duty right now.”
“Alright then.”
Well, if that’s what she prefers, I won’t argue.
“Meow!” “Mew!” “……!”
The little Fenrirs were clearly desperate to eat the stew.
“No! This meal is for the goddess! It’s not something we can eat!”
“Meowww?!”
The little Fenrirs looked devastated.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Let’s all eat together. It’ll taste better that way.”
“Meowwww♡!”
They rubbed their cheeks against my legs. So cute.
“Wait, can dogs even eat stew? I thought onions were bad for them.”
I quickly searched the all-knowing internet.
“Huh? It says it’s fine here…?”
Well, if the all-knowing internet says it’s okay, then I guess it is.
We all sat down at the table, with the little Fenrirs sitting at our feet.
The familiars served us bowls of stew.
“Alright, let’s eat!”
“Let’s eat!” “Mew!” “……!”
I took a spoonful of Chef Carrot’s stew.
“Mmm! It’s delicious!”
“It’s so rich! I’ve never tasted such creamy stew before!”
Felma eagerly devoured her stew.
“This is sooo good! Especially the vegetables! They’re so sweet and delicious! That’s the power of leyline-grown vegetables! Way tastier than regular ones!”
We humans were all engrossed in the stew.
“Chef Carrot, can I have seconds?”
“Mew!” “Mew!”
The little Fenrirs also wanted more. These kids sure are lively.
“This bread is amazing too! It’s the best!”
Felma shouted as she ate the baguette instead of the stew.
“I’ve never had such soft bread before!”
“Well, the bread here is usually pretty hard.”
“Yes! The inside is soft, and the outside is crispy! It’s perfect!”
“Try it with some butter; it’s even better.”
The bread was toasted, and the heat caused the butter to melt deliciously.
I made another one and handed half to Fermar. We both enjoyed the freshly baked baguette.
“It’s delicious!”
Fermar was wagging her tail so hard it looked like it might break off. I get it; slathering butter on hot bread is incredibly tasty.
Just that alone is amazing. And then pouring rich stew over it? It’s too good!
“I can eat so many delicious dishes… Ah, Saintess. This truly is the heavenly realm where the gods reside…”
“You’re being dramatic.”
…But if I keep eating like this, I might gain weight. That’s not good.
“I’m going to get fat!”
The useless goddess had her mouth stuffed with food.
“What do you mean?”
“The dragon vein area doesn’t make you sick. So, you won’t gain weight, and you won’t have hangovers either!”
“!? Is that true?”
“Yes. Obesity is considered an illness here.”
What does that mean…? So, I can eat and drink as much as I want without any health risks?
“This really is a paradise…”
