Chapter 34: Mr. Davis, You're Here?
Looking at the black-robed figure turning away, the young woman began to wonder if she had thought too much. Was this thing really not special at all?
She quickly called out to Liam Smith, "Sir, please wait a moment."
"What is it?" Alistair said impatiently.
The young woman felt a bit embarrassed and said, "Since you can come to the second floor, it shows that you are a distinguished guest of our auction house. Since you've taken a fancy to this item, you can name a price. If it's appropriate, we'll sell it to you."
"To be honest, this thing is basically worthless. But who knows, it just has an affinity with me." Alistair seemed a bit reluctant and said, "I'll offer thirty Soul crystals."
"Thirty Soul crystals?" The young woman's face immediately fell.
She had given face to this so-called "distinguished guest" and let him name a price, but she didn't expect him to offer such a low price. It seemed a bit like taking advantage of the situation.
Liam Smith was also slightly shocked. Although he had known that Alistair would drive the price down several times, he didn't expect it to be reduced by nearly ten times directly. Liam Smith had to admit that this was really a ruthless bargain.
"Sir, you're not joking, are you?" The young woman couldn't believe her ears.
Alistair looked indifferent and said lightly, "Of course not. If miss thinks it's not suitable, then forget it."
"Can't you raise the price a bit? We spent forty or fifty Soul crystals when we bought them." The young woman said with a bit of difficulty.
"In that case, I'll offer fifty Soul crystals." Alistair seemed to be very understanding.
"Fifty Soul crystals?" The young woman murmured a few times.
She seemed a bit torn. But after thinking for a moment, she said with a hint of reluctance, "Alright, fifty it is. I hope you'll come and patronize us often in the future."
"Of course." Alistair chuckled.
After the transaction, Liam Smith directly put the token into his storage bag and turned to leave.
Looking at Liam Smith's back, the young woman showed a proud smile. This thing had been here for several years and no one had ever asked about it. The Elders of the auction house couldn't see anything special about it either, and they had long said that if any distinguished guest took a fancy to it, they could just give it away for free.
Unexpectedly, it was sold today, and she even earned fifty Soul crystals. She was in a great mood at the moment.
Liam Smith was even happier than her. If it wasn't necessary to avoid being noticed, he might have burst out laughing now.
He wandered around for a while longer. There weren't many things that caught his eye, and the prices of the things he liked were not cost-effective. Moreover, there were some things he didn't need at the moment.
So, Liam Smith went straight downstairs.
Coming to the auction house today, buying things was secondary. The most important thing was to sell the Fire Ganoderma Lucidum he had found in the Blood Raven's cave.
The Third-level Elixir was of no use to him for the time being, and he didn't know any pharmacists.
If he gave it to the family, he could get a lot of benefits, but compared with the Soul crystals he could get by selling it himself, the difference was huge.
Liam Smith wasn't that stupid to do something that benefited the family but harmed himself. Besides, he didn't have a good impression of the Smith family itself.
In this auction house, if he wanted to sell the Fire Ganoderma Lucidum in his hand and get a good price, Liam Smith already had someone in mind.
It was the chief pharmacist of the auction house, Ignatius.
And he also just happened to settle the score with Ignatius about the storage bag incident last time...
With a hint of a sinister smile, Liam Smith entered the back door of the first floor of the auction house and directly headed for Ignatius's residence along the route he had taken last time.
However, it wasn't smooth. He was stopped halfway by two guarding pupils.
The two of them glanced at Liam Smith, and one of the sturdy pupils demanded, "Who are you and what are you doing in the backyard?"
"I'm here to find Ignatius." Alistair snorted.
"How dare you! How can you casually mention Master Ignatius's name?" The two pupils said angrily.
It seemed that Ignatius had a high status in their hearts.
Alistair didn't say anything but asked Liam Smith to take out the silver VIP card and show it to the two of them.
After seeing the silver card, the two of them immediately became respectful.
Their tone softened slightly, but they didn't let Liam Smith pass just because of the silver card. They said lightly, "So, the predecessor is a silver-card VIP. But even so, you can't see Master Ignatius."
"Not even like this?" Alistair said unhappily.
"Only gold-card VIPs can go in directly."
"Then can't you go and inform him of me?" Alistair said coldly.
The sturdy pupil bowed slightly and said, "Master Ignatius never likes to be disturbed. If we offend him, we can't bear responsibility."
"Just say that Mr. Davis asked you to go in and report."
"Mr. Davis?" The two of them carefully recalled all the influential people in Silvermoon Valley, but they had never remembered anyone named Mr. Davis.
"Please forgive us, Mr. Davis. This is the rule of the auction house."
Obviously, the two of them still had some doubts about the status of "Fane Davis" in Ignatius's heart.
Alistair didn't expect to be refused by two ordinary pupils. His mood suddenly turned bad, and he said in a deep voice, "I'm an old acquaintance of Ignatius. If Ignatius blames me later, don't say I didn't warn you."
When the two of them heard Alistair's words, they began to waver and whispered to each other. But in the end, they still didn't agree to report to "Fane Davis".
"Damn it!" Alistair was furious and said resentfully, "You two fools."
The two pupils remained unmoved.
Alistair secretly cursed, "This damned Ignatius. I don't know what he's doing making these stupid rules."
Although he was angry, Alistair was, after all, a powerful figure of a generation. Naturally, he wouldn't argue with two ordinary pupils. For a moment, he didn't know what to do.
The three of them were at a standstill.
After a long time, Liam Smith couldn't help but say, "Master, why don't we go back today and come another time?"
"Nonsense. The situation will be the same next time."
Liam Smith thought it was true and could only sigh slightly. He was even more dissatisfied with Ignatius.
In fact, the two auction-house pupils were also very nervous. If this Mr. Davis in front of them was really an old acquaintance of Master Ignatius, then they would be in big trouble if they stopped him from meeting the master. If the master blamed them, they would be severely punished.
But if this person's identity wasn't important and they offended Master Ignatius, the consequences would be even more unthinkable.
Just then, a figure in a blue dress came from behind Liam Smith. It was a young girl, holding a plate in her hand. There were three fist-sized fruits on the plate, which seemed to be for Ignatius.
When the two pupils saw the person coming, they immediately greeted her with a bow.
The sturdy pupil said, "So it's Sister Aisha. These are for Master Ignatius?"
"Yes." Then she saw Fane Davis standing aside with his back to her and asked, "Who is this person? Why is he standing here?"
The sturdy pupil quickly pulled the girl aside and whispered to her.
"What? You said his name is Mr. Davis?" The girl was shocked.
"Yes. Do you know him, Sister Aisha?" The sturdy pupil was slightly surprised.
The girl seemed anxious, stamped her foot, and scolded, "You two have caused a big disaster."
"A big disaster?" When the two of them heard this, they couldn't help but break into a cold sweat.
Could it be that this Mr. Davis in front of them really had a great background?
Before the two of them could ask clearly, the girl had quickly walked up to Liam Smith.
She bowed respectfully to Liam Smith and smiled, "Mr. Davis, you're here?"
Seeing the girl suddenly being extremely respectful to him, Liam Smith was first slightly stunned. Then he remembered the young girl in the blue dress who had taken him to see Ignatius last time. Who else could it be but her?
But judging from her current attire, her status was presumably even higher than before.
"It's you." Alistair said indifferently.
"I didn't expect Mr. Davis to remember Aisha. It really makes Aisha feel honored." The girl seemed very excited.
Liam Smith also immediately got out of his depression. Now that he had met Aisha, it meant that he could meet Ignatius.
Alistair got straight to the point and said, "Miss Aisha, I have something I want to discuss with your Master Ignatius. Please lead the way."
Aisha nodded repeatedly and said, "Mr. Davis, you're being too polite. Master has ordered that whenever Mr. Davis comes, he must be invited to Master's residence for a good chat."
"Is that so?" Alistair said with a sinister smile, "I didn't expect him to care so much about me."
"Of course. Mr. Davis is a highly respected senior, and he hit it off with Master at first sight. Master naturally misses Mr. Davis." Aisha flattered.
"Then can I go in now?"
"Of course. Aisha is willing to lead the way for Mr. Davis."
Seeing that the two of them were about to walk towards the small courtyard, the two guarding pupils panicked. They quickly stepped forward, bowed deeply to Liam Smith, and said apologetically, "Mr. Davis, we didn't recognize your true status and offended you. Please be magnanimous and don't hold it against us."
They didn't know before, but now after hearing the conversation between the two, they finally understood why Aisha had said they had caused a big disaster earlier. If they didn't find a way to make amends, they might end up in an even worse situation.
According to other pupils, the reason why Aisha was able to quickly become a favorite in front of Master Ignatius from an ordinary pupil was that she had introduced a senior to Master Ignatius.
Now it seemed that this senior was undoubtedly this Mr. Davis in front of them.
It could be seen how noble this Mr. Davis was in Master Ignatius's eyes.
Aisha also pleaded for the two of them, "Mr. Davis, I think they didn't mean it. Please be kind and don't blame them."
Alistair was originally a bit angry, but obviously, he had no intention of arguing with the two pupils. He waved his hand and said, "Forget it. For Aisha's sake, I won't argue with you."
"Thank you, Mr. Davis." The three of them said in unison.
The two pupils bowed to Liam Smith again.
Ignoring the two of them, Liam Smith followed Aisha and headed for Ignatius's residence.
Looking at Liam Smith's figure, the two pupils finally let out a sigh of relief, looking scared.
At this moment, they both had the same thought in their hearts: They must take good care of this Mr. Davis in the future.
