Chapter 33: The Mysterious Token
The moon was high in the sky, and the stars were scattered everywhere.
Silvermoon Valley was brightly lit at this moment. The night was as bright as day under the illumination of the candlelight. There were still many warriors coming and going on the ancient road. The darkness didn't seem to cause any inconvenience to the warriors.
After entering Silvermoon Valley, Liam Smith didn't go directly to the Smith family but instead headed for the auction house.
This training had brought him a good harvest. His entire storage bag was almost filled with miscellaneous things, mostly first-level elixirs and some strange ores.
Now was a good time to sort them out and sell them. Otherwise, there would be no space to hold good things next time he went for training.
Just like last time, Liam Smith still put on a black robe and appeared at the auction house with Alistair's voice.
The auction house was still as bustling as before. Perhaps because of the night, many warriors had found free time after a day's work and were now gathered in the liveliest place in Silvermoon Valley.
Liam Smith squeezed through the crowd and stopped at a trading counter.
"Dear customer, how can I assist you?" A young man asked with a smile as he looked at Liam Smith, who was dressed in a black robe.
Alistair's cold voice rang out, "Can I sell things here?"
Hearing that the other party was an old man, the young man's attitude became even more respectful. In the Liberty Divine Land, as long as a warrior was old, his cultivation was naturally not low.
He nodded and said respectfully, "We only accept items of level one and below here. I wonder if the predecessor has something to offer?"
Alistair nodded slightly, and his voice sounded again, "That's good. I have some small things here. I just want to clear them out to save some space."
"To be honest, our auction house buys things at a price slightly lower than the market price. I hope the predecessor can understand."
"Understood, of course I understand." Alistair seemed easy-going.
After all, the auction house also needed to make a profit. It was reasonable that the price was a few percentage points lower than the market price.
"Thank you. Then, the predecessor might as well take out the things and let us have a look so that we can give you a price."
Without any nonsense, Liam Smith directly took out a handful of elixirs from his storage bag and placed them on the counter, which made the young man who received him slightly stunned.
Others usually take out things one by one at the auction house. He didn't expect the black-robed man in front of him to take out a handful directly. Just by visual inspection, there were at least a dozen elixirs in this handful.
What was even more surprising was that Liam Smith was still taking things out. Some strange metals, a few first-level magic cores, and one elixir after another were all taken out in one go.
This really surprised the young man. Looking at the black robed man in front of him, he even suspected that these things were obtained through robbery and murder.
After a while, the entire counter was occupied by Liam Smith's things, attracting the attention of several nearby warriors.
"Hurry up. What are you staring at?" Alistair's voice sank as he said to the wide-mouthed young man.
The young man was brought back to his senses by Alistair's words. He quickly called over the other two auctions - house pupils, and the three of them began to count the things Liam Smith had taken out.
After counting, a few of them had an answer. The young man smiled and said, "Predecessor, there are a total of five first-level magic cores here, worth a total of ninety Soul crystals, sixty first-level elixirs, worth a total of one hundred and seventy Soul crystals, and some other ores worth forty - eight Soul crystals. So, these things of the predecessor are worth a total of three hundred and eight Soul crystals."
"This price is not much different from what I expected. Then let's start the transaction."
"Is the predecessor sure that you want to sell them all?"
"Nonsense. These things are useless to keep. It's better to exchange them for a few Soul crystals so that I can have tea when I'm free."
More than three hundred Soul crystals, just for tea money?
The young man sighed a little. The world was really different. He was so tired every day in this auction house that he only got a few Soul crystals. He didn't expect that in the eyes of others, these hundreds of Soul crystals were just for tea, and he didn't know what kind of tea it was that was so expensive.
Hearing Alistair's somewhat unhappy tone, the young man didn't dare to be negligent. He quickly nodded, ordered a few pupils to pack up the things on the counter, and then turned around and left.
He probably went to get the Soul crystals.
After waiting for a moment, the young man came back again and traded three hundred and twenty-eight Soul crystals to Liam Smith.
After receiving the Soul crystals, Liam Smith nodded in satisfaction and then turned around and left the counter.
The young man was also very happy about this. After all, after this deal, the auction house could give him a good commission.
"Predecessor, walk slowly. Come often when you're free." The young man said in a flattering tone.
After walking forward a few steps, Liam Smith's eyes were suddenly attracted.
There was a staircase leading to the second floor. It seemed so mysterious.
Last time, he was refused there. Only those with the auction-house VIP card could go up.
However, this time, Liam Smith had the VIP card given by Ignatius last time. Presumably, he should be able to go up.
Liam Smith wanted to see what was on the second floor. It was so mysterious.
There was still an auction - house pupil blocking the way at the staircase. His voice was cold as he said, "Please show your VIP card."
Liam Smith didn't say anything and took out the silver card he had prepared long ago.
The moment the auction - house pupil saw Liam Smith take out the silver card, his eyes immediately showed a trace of respect. You should know that there weren't many people with this kind of silver card in the entire Silvermoon Valley. They were all big shots.
At that moment, his attitude became extremely respectful. He made a gesture of invitation and said, "Please, sir."
Liam Smith nodded slightly and walked upstairs on his own.
The second floor was not as lively as the first floor. It could be seen that there weren't many people on the second floor, and there were only six counters. However, after a look around, there were no trading counters like those on the first floor.
This made Liam Smith a little disappointed. He originally wanted to take out a few second-level things in his storage bag and sell them. But now it seemed that he had to find another way.
Although there were fewer things on the second floor than on the first floor, the quality was not comparable to that of the first floor. Here, second-level elixirs and high-level Mortal - Rank Martial - arts methods of exercise were available. He even saw the martial arts of the Spiritual Rank.
However, although the Spiritual - Rank Martial - arts was tempting, it didn't seem to have many customers, and the price was not something ordinary people could afford.
Liam Smith roughly estimated his current wealth and found that he could barely afford it.
But before Liam Smith could ask about the price, he was stopped by Alistair.
Rather reluctantly, Liam Smith swallowed and sent a mental message, "Master, why did you stop me?"
Owning a high level martial arts was the wish of every warrior and what Liam Smith wanted most besides the advancement of his cultivation at present.
Alistair smiled faintly and said, "Little guy, what's the use of buying such useless martial arts?"
"Useless?"
"Of course. This is a Martial - arts that sacrifices lifespan in exchange for cultivation."
"Really?" Liam Smith was slightly shocked.
If it was really like what Alistair said, then this martial art was really useless. It was completely a Martial - arts that led to a dead end.
Although Liam Smith was eager to obtain a high - level Martial - arts now, compared with his own lifespan, it was not worth it.
After all, Alistair had once said that as long as he reached the fourth level of the Refined Gas Realm, he would teach him the Spiritual - Rank Martial - arts. Now he was only one step away from the fourth level of the Refined Gas Realm. He could afford to wait for this little time.
"Otherwise, do you think the people in Silvermoon Valley are fools?" Alistair said with a bit of a wry smile. "Which family doesn't want to have one more Spiritual - Rank Martial - arts? But no one bought it because this Martial - arts is really the most useless among the useless."
Liam Smith nodded to show that he understood, and his enthusiasm for this martial arts disappeared instantly.
As for the other high - level Mortal - Rank Martial - arts, Liam Smith had no interest at all. Even if he bought them back now, he didn't have so much time to cultivate them. He hadn't mastered the Mountain Break Fist yet, and after reaching the fourth level of the Refined Gas Realm, he would focus on the Spiritual - Rank Martial - arts. Buying them back now was completely a waste.
So, Liam Smith continued to stroll around other counters.
When passing by a counter that specialized in selling sundries, Liam Smith was suddenly stopped by Alistair.
According to Alistair's instructions, Liam Smith turned his eyes in a certain direction.
There, a black object that looked like a token was lying quietly. He didn't know what material it was made of. It was completely unremarkable among a pile of colorful goods. Presumably, no one would notice it.
"What's this?" Liam Smith secretly sent a mental message and asked.
"I don't know either. I just think it's a little unusual."
Liam Smith was slightly shocked. If even Alistair said it was a little unusual, then this thing must not be ordinary.
Moreover, what made Liam Smith confused was that this thing had no price tag. You should know that everything in this auction house had a marked price, and there was never any bargaining.
"Sir, have you taken a fancy to something? Do you want me to take it out for you to have a look?" An auction - house young woman came over and said with a smile.
Alistair didn't show any excitement or impatience. His voice was low as he said, "Take out that thing and let me have a look."
As Alistair spoke, Liam Smith naturally pointed at the black token very cooperatively.
The young woman was slightly stunned and asked, "Sir, are you sure you want this?"
"Why, can't I?" Alistair was slightly angry.
The young woman quickly waved her hand and said, "Of course not. It's just that this thing has been placed here for several years, and you're the first person to notice it."
"Is that so?" Alistair's tone softened slightly.
As she spoke, the young woman had already taken it out and handed it to Liam Smith respectfully.
It felt a little cold in his hand. Liam Smith took it in his hand and looked at it carefully. It was just an ordinary black token without any abnormalities. There were just some strange patterns engraved on the token, and Liam Smith couldn't understand them.
However, the whole token looked very ancient, and a sense of vicissitude filled the whole token.
"I'll take this thing." Alistair's voice slowly rang out. "Name your price."
A glint flashed in the young woman's eyes, and she smiled and said, "May I ask, sir, is there any mystery about this token?"
Liam Smith knew all too well what the young woman was up to. If Alistair could say a little bit, not only would the price be raised, but the auction house might not even be willing to sell it at that time.
Alistair looked a little unhappy and said, "Miss, you have a good plan. But there's no mystery about this token. I just think it looks pleasing to the eye."
Seeing that her trick had been seen through, the young woman was a little embarrassed. However, she didn't believe what Alistair said about there being no mystery. If it was really just an ordinary token, why would he come to buy it?
The young woman thought for a while and held up two fingers and said, "Since you have a connection with it, I'll give you a discount. Two hundred Soul crystals."
"Two hundred Soul crystals?" Alistair sneered. "Are you joking?"
"This price is very fair."
"Fair? Hehe, then you can wait for a fair - minded person to buy it." After Alistair finished speaking, he hinted that Liam Smith should put down the token and leave.
