The Rise of the Fallen Prodigy

Chapter 22: Preparations Before Departure

The night was slightly cool.

A gentle breeze blew through the small courtyard, making the leaves rustle, and the candle flame on the table began to flicker unsteadily.

Alistair looked at Liam Smith, a hint of complexity flashing in his eyes.

It was not until Liam Smith fell asleep that Alistair shifted his gaze from Liam Smith and turned it towards the boundless starry sky outside the window.

For some reason, he let out a bitter laugh and murmured to himself, "Is life really predestined, and no one can break free from the shackles of fate? I never expected that I would have to repeat what happened a hundred years ago this time..."

The night passed without any incident.

The next morning, as soon as Liam Smith woke up from his sleep, he saw Alistair sitting alone at the table, with a pensive look on his face, wondering what he was thinking about.

"Master?" Liam Smith called out tentatively.

Hearing Liam Smith's voice, Alistair came back to his senses and said indifferently, "You're awake?"

Seeing Alistair looking a bit lost, Liam Smith showed concern on his face and stepped forward to ask, "Master, didn't you rest all night?"

Alistair smiled faintly and said, "Your master is just a Remnant Soul now. It doesn't make much difference whether I rest or not. But as for you, I hope you had a good rest last night, because the next few days probably won't be so comfortable."

Liam Smith casually waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, I'm all set."

Alistair glanced at Liam Smith and said, "Since you're awake, let's not waste any time. Let's set off right away."

"Sure thing." Liam Smith naturally had no objections.

He immediately stood up from the bed, casually straightened his clothes, and was ready to go.

However, Liam Smith suddenly remembered something and turned his gaze towards Alistair, saying, "Master, if we're both leaving, what about this Gathering Reiki method?"

If Liam Smith didn't go out, it would be okay. He could handle this matter while staying in the Smith family every day. But now he was going on a long journey and wouldn't be back for at least ten days or half a month.

Although no one usually visited his stone house, there was always a chance that someone in the family might suddenly get the idea to come here. If that happened, the matter of the Gathering Reiki method would be completely exposed.

At that time, the exposure of the secret of the Gathering Reiki method would be the least of his worries. He was afraid that the elders in the family would definitely pull him in for questioning.

After all, a high-level thing like the Gathering Reiki method couldn't be something that a warrior at the Refined Gas Realm Level One like himself could come up with. No one would believe it if he said so.

Even if he firmly denied it, he probably wouldn't have an easy time in the future. There would surely be different people keeping an eye on him around the clock.

Liam Smith didn't want to get into such trouble for no reason.

Alistair glanced at the Gathering Reiki method set up last month and said indifferently, "The effect of this Gathering Reiki method should last for another day. It will disappear automatically in at most a day and a half. There probably won't be anyone who discovers it. If you don't feel at ease, you can also destroy the method."

"How do I destroy it?" Liam Smith still thought it was better to be on the safe side, otherwise he wouldn't be able to relax while he was away.

Alistair waved his hand and said, "You just need to remove any one of the Soul crystals in the formation."

Liam Smith nodded to show he understood and didn't waste any time. He immediately removed all the Soul crystals set up in the house and put them into his Storage bag. Although each soul crystal had very little spirit left after a month of consumption, every little bit counted.

What's more, he was also uneasy about leaving these Soul crystals in the stone house. If they were discovered, he wouldn't be able to explain it.

As for the Soul crystals in the corner outside the house, Liam Smith didn't take them out. After all, those Soul crystals were buried deep underground and probably wouldn't be discovered. Presumably, as long as someone wasn't completely out of their mind, they wouldn't dig up the ground of his small house for no reason.

Watching Liam Smith carefully put away these basically secondary Soul crystals, Alistair showed disdain and said, "People who don't know might think you're a beggar."

Liam Smith gave Alistair a look and said, "This is called killing two birds with one stone, you know?"

"Pack up and let's set off quickly," Alistair said impatiently. "If you dawdle any longer, it'll be getting dark soon."

"Okay, we can set off now," Liam Smith said after putting away the last Soul crystal.

In front of the gate of the Smith family, there were already many pupils fully armed and starting to set off. It seemed that they were all going to complete family tasks.

According to the cultivation realm and the treatment they received in the Smith family, some pupils were on horseback, while others were walking.

Horses were the most common means of transportation to replace walking in the Liberty Divine Land.

For a warrior, before breaking through to the Extreme Realm in cultivation, even if they used their body skills martial arts to the fullest, their speed was only comparable to that of a horse. Some warriors with powerful body skills martial arts could catch up with a horse in terms of speed.

However, a warrior needs to use vital energy or Mysterious energy to perform body skills martial arts and can't do it indefinitely. When there is no vital energy and mysterious energy left in their body, they naturally can't run anymore.

If they encounter danger at that time, it will definitely be a matter of life and death.

So, warriors below the Extreme Realm basically use horses as a means of transportation, except for those who don't have enough Soul crystals to buy a horse.

Warriors in the Extreme Realm don't need horses. Warriors above that realm can use powerful Mysterious energy to soar in the air, and their speed is more than half faster than that of a horse, and it doesn't consume much Mysterious energy.

Liam Smith was rather depressed.

He clearly had a lot of Soul crystals, but he didn't dare to go to the Commercial Street to buy a good horse for transportation.

The reason was that he was afraid of being discovered by the family pupils. Then there would be a lot of trouble. After all, it took a lot of Soul crystals to buy a horse in the Liberty Divine Land.

"Let's go to the Commercial Street," Alistair said indifferently.

Liam Smith was a bit puzzled and asked, "What are we going there for?"

Alistair said indifferently, "To buy some things."

"Buy things?" Liam Smith was even more confused and asked, "Master, I've already brought enough food and water for more than half a month, and I even brought two sets of change of clothes. It seems that I'm well-prepared. What else do we need?"

Alistair couldn't help but laugh and said, "What are you bringing all those things for? Do you have too much energy?"

Liam Smith didn't understand Alistair's slightly reproachful words and asked again, "Aren't these things we'll need?"

Alistair snorted and said, "Do you think you're going on a sightseeing trip? These things are just a waste of space. We'll find a place to throw them all away later."

"Okay." Although Liam Smith still had a lot of questions, he obediently nodded.

When they came to the Commercial Street of the Smith family again, Liam Smith saw some pupils of the Smith family buying and selling in various shops. It looked quite lively.

"First, let's go to the pharmacy to buy some elixirs," Alistair's voice sounded, and then he told Liam Smith the names of several elixirs in his ear.

Without thinking too much, Liam Smith directly entered a pharmacy.

When the shopkeeper saw a customer, he quickly stepped forward with a smile and said respectfully, "I wonder what this esteemed customer wants to buy?"

"Twenty Detoxifying Elixirs, twenty Avoidance Miasma Elixirs, thirty Restoring Vital Energy Elixirs, and ten portions of medicine for sword wounds," Liam Smith directly stated what Alistair had told him.

"Sure thing. Please wait a moment, and I'll get them for you right away." When the shopkeeper heard that Liam Smith wanted to buy so many things, his eyes lit up. This was a rather big business.

A moment later, the shopkeeper handed five small porcelain bottles to Liam Smith. Each bottle had a label on it, so it was easy to identify.

Liam Smith didn't say anything more. After paying sixty Soul crystals, he turned and left.

Then it went on to the next shop—

"Shopkeeper, give me a top-notch dagger and a Golden Silk Armor..."

"Shopkeeper, give me some sauce and seasonings..."

"..."

After wandering around the Commercial Street for nearly half an hour, Liam Smith entered seven or eight shops and bought a lot of things, spending several hundred Soul crystals in total.

However, in Liam Smith's opinion, not many of these things were useful.

The elixirs were understandable. They could be of great use at critical moments. The dagger and the Golden Silk Armor were also good for self-defense.

But the sauce and seasonings made Liam Smith a bit confused. And the most puzzling thing was a piece of inkstone that was about a foot high.

The inkstone was a black stone. It could be found everywhere in the Liberty Divine Land. It was not only of little use but also extremely heavy.

Fortunately, he had a Storage bag, otherwise he didn't know how to carry it. But this way, the storage bag was occupied by a lot of space all of a sudden.

There were also some other miscellaneous things. Anyway, there were very few things that Liam Smith thought were useful.

"Master, what exactly are all these things you asked me to buy for?" Liam Smith couldn't help but ask.

Alistair said coldly, "It's not something that can be explained in a short time. Anyway, you'll understand when you need to use them."

"Is there anything else we need to buy now?" Since Alistair didn't want to explain, Liam Smith didn't dwell on it.

Alistair pondered for a moment and said, "We've almost got everything we need. There's just one last thing, a black robe."

"A black robe?" Liam Smith was completely confused and said, "Master, are you kidding me? You said the two sets of clothes I brought myself were taking up space and asked me to throw them away. Why do you want me to buy a black robe now?"

As he spoke, Liam Smith glanced at the scorching sun in the sky and said, "Besides, it's so hot now. Even if we buy a black robe, I can't wear it."

"Just do as I say. Why are you talking so much?" Alistair spat.

Although Liam Smith was extremely reluctant in his heart, he still had to follow Alistair's instructions and found another shop to buy a black robe, which was similar to the one he wore when he went to the auction house last time.

But this one was a bit thicker. The whole robe was airtight, and it was estimated that it would be difficult to even breathe when wearing it.

Liam Smith came out of the shop in a bad mood and said unhappily, "Master, is there anything else we need to buy?"

Alistair muttered to himself for a while. After making sure that he hadn't forgotten anything, he said with satisfaction, "Okay, we've basically got everything. We can set off now."

"Finally, it's all ready. I would have gone crazy if it wasn't," Liam Smith murmured in a low voice.

"What were you muttering about?"

"Nothing, nothing. I'm just excited to set off, Master," Liam Smith forced a smile and said.

Alistair didn't say anything, but at that moment, he had a wicked smile on his face inside the ancient jade: Little guy, I hope you can still be excited later.
