The Returnee’s Guild Must Grow Properly

Chapter 48

Ultimately, Woo Mahun was the only younger brother of Woo Mahan, the leader of Hwarang, one of the top guilds in South Korea.

Though there were rumors of their strained relationship, those proved unfounded. As soon as Woo Mahun’s role in the drama was confirmed, Hwarang began actively supporting the production of Two Suns Beneath the Sky.

Not only did it generate significant buzz, but the production also received an unexpected boost in funding. The drama was riding high on a wave of success.

The only downside was that the role of Wanghun, played by Woo Mahun, had relatively little screen time.

Director Na wanted to expand Wanghun’s role, but the lead writer firmly rejected the idea.

“…It’s such a shame, truly.”

“Sorry, Director?”

“Oh, it’s nothing. Just thinking out loud. Anyway, get ready. We’re about to shoot.”

“Yes, Director.”

Director Na inspected the set before filming began. Standing off to one side were the cameo stars, glaring at each other with such intimidating intensity that even the professional actors shrank back.

The only person unaffected by the tension was Woo Mahun.

“Hae Roun, I desire a warm cocoa.”

“That kid… he’s destined for greatness.”

Shaking his head, Director Na picked up his script.

“Alright, everyone, stand by! And… action!”

Thus began the filming.

“Wanghun! At last, the time has come to put an end to our long-standing feud!”

“Feud? How laughable. You turned what could have been destiny into enmity yourself.”

Woo Mahun’s low, resonant voice drew admiration from Director Na.

He had heard Woo Mahun once worked in theater, and now he regretted that such talent hadn’t been in the spotlight earlier.

What Director Na didn’t know, however, was how many messages Do Haun had been sending to get Woo Mahun to deliver his lines properly.

The shoot went smoothly—until it didn’t.

“Guild Master Woo Mahan! You don’t have any lines! You just need to stand quietly next to your brother—what are you doing?!”

“My apologies, Director Na, but Guild Master Do Hajun’s gaze is highly improper.”

“Your accusation is offensive, Guild Master Woo Mahan. Must I offer you a courteous expression?”

Everything was fine until Hwarang’s Woo Mahan and Haun’s Do Hajun clashed.

The scene was supposed to depict the first prince, Wanghun, and the second prince, Wanghyun, facing off in a tense, dramatic standoff.

Instead, it was turning into a historical drama version of a power struggle between Hwarang and Haun.

Director Na was well aware of the bad blood between the two, which was why he cast them as cameos—to generate buzz.

He hadn’t realized their relationship was this bad.

Do Hajun stared at Woo Mahan and Woo Mahun for a long moment before casually breaking the prop sword he was holding in both hands.

“Oh, I seem to have broken it. My apologies, Director Na.”

“……”

The prop had been crafted to mimic a real sword as closely as possible. And yet, Do Hajun snapped it like a twig.

Director Na was still gaping in disbelief when another sharp crack came from the other side.

“Oops, I seem to have broken mine as well. My apologies, Director Na. But don’t you think the props are a bit too flimsy?”

Woo Mahan smirked at Do Hajun as he dropped the shattered sword to the ground.

“……”

Director Na lowered his head, despairing at the escalating power play between the elite hunters.

****

“Hajun Hyung, who knew you could be this childish?”

“Shut up.”

I let out a deep sigh at the scene unfolding before me. Director Na, who had suggested the cameo appearances to the childish individuals before us, was hanging his head in defeat.

It seemed he had finally realized how thoroughly this shoot had gone off the rails.

|Pr. Demon King|: It seems my brother has lost his mind.

“……”

I glanced at the Demon King with a dry, unimpressed expression. He, in turn, was looking at his brother with the same deadpan stare. Seeing that expression on him was… a novelty.

“We’ll take a short break before resuming the shoot!”

The tension between Hwarang and Haun dissipated at the announcement from one of the staff members. Woo Mahan and my brother glared at each other one last time before simultaneously snapping their heads away.

I noticed the staff members exhaling in collective relief after watching the two.

“Do Haun! Did you see that? How was it?”

“What do you think?”

Do Hain, who had been standing next to my brother, approached me with a grin. At his question, I frowned.

“Why didn’t you stop him?”

“Why should I stop him?”

Why, he asks?!

The staff were already whispering and stealing glances at my brother and Woo Mahan.

Lowering my voice, I hissed at Do Hain in frustration.
“What if the headlines tomorrow say the guild masters of Hwarang and Haun had a childish brawl on set?”

Do Hain chuckled heartily.
“Is that what you’re worried about? Don’t be. They fight so much that it doesn’t even make the news anymore.”

He added that it would take something as extreme as a building being destroyed for it to catch the media’s attention.

I couldn’t help but wonder just how frequently these two fought to warrant such remarks. As I groaned, a message popped up from the mage.

|Pr. 9th Circle Archmage|: You didn’t know Hajun Hyung and Woo Mahan didn’t get along?
|Pr. Godslayer (Guild Master)|: I didn’t know it was this bad.

If I’d known it was this bad, I wouldn’t have even mentioned the Demon King in the first place.

I heaved another sigh so heavy it felt like it could crack the ground beneath me, just as a voice announced the resumption of filming.

“Hey, Do Haun.”

“What?”

“Stop watching that idiot and focus on me and Hyung. Got it?”

At Do Hain’s quiet warning, I flipped him off without hesitation. He scowled at me, but his attention quickly shifted when my brother called for him.

“Are they still filming that scene?”

A voice from above caught my attention, and I looked up to see Kang Hasu handing me an iced Americano. I took it and replied,
“My brother and Woo Mahan keep trying to outdo each other, so it’s all NGs. Weren’t you headed back to the company?”

Kang Hasu handed the mage a strawberry smoothie and said,
“I heard Doby has something to say, so I decided to delay my return for as long as possible.”

“Is that okay?”

“It is, for the sake of my mental health.”

Kang Hasu smiled kindly, but I couldn’t help but look at him with a dubious expression.

Being here seemed far more likely to damage his mental health than improve it.

“Do you think we’ll finish filming today?”

“The mage believes it’s impossible.”

The director’s booming voice shouting NG echoed across the set. I nodded in agreement with the mage.

“That sounds about right.”

I had lost count of how many times we had watched the same scene being shot.

|Pr. Demon King|: I wish someone would get rid of my brother already.

“……”

It seemed the Demon King had reached the end of his patience.

During yet another break caused by the endless NGs, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I approached my brother and Do Hain.

“If you two keep acting like this with Guild Master Woo Mahan, I’m going to apply for an internship at Hwarang.”

“Do Haun!”

The mage sent me a flurry of messages, asking if the Return Guild Master had lost their mind, planning to ditch the guild members and run away. I ignored them completely.

Surprisingly, my words worked like magic, and the scene that had caused repeated NGs was suddenly approved in one take.

Finally, the last shoot began: the climactic battle between Wanghun and Wanghyun, where the two princes risked their lives in a duel.

Though the cameo appearances were over, Woo Mahan, my brother, and Do Hain stubbornly stayed on set, refusing to leave.

“You must be truly unemployed, Guild Master Do Hajun.”

“That’s rich coming from you, Guild Master Woo Mahan.”

Even though the filming was officially over, the two showed no sign of ending their petty power struggle.

Caught in the crossfire, the Spirit Master sent me a private message pleading for rescue. Naturally, I ignored it.

I’d have to corner Do Hain later and find out why those two couldn’t stand each other.

“Alright, and… action!”

The call to start filming silenced the set. The climax was simple: the two princes charging at each other, their swords clashing.

|Pr. Godslayer (Guild Master)|: Demon King, take it easy. Don’t go all out, got it?
|Pr. Demon King|: Understood.

Satisfied with his response, I watched the Demon King raise his sword.

The followers of both princes charged at each other with shouts, and finally, Wanghun and Wanghyun rushed forward, swords drawn.

The moment their blades clashed—

BOOM!

A massive explosion rocked the set.

Bang! BOOM!

The explosions continued in a chain, making it nearly impossible to see through the smoke and debris.

“Ahhhhhh!”

The screams confirmed that things were quickly spiraling out of control.

“Do Haun!”
“Do Haun, where are you!”

I shouted back in the direction of the frantic voices.
“I’m with Roun!”

“Stay close to the mage and don’t leave their side!” my brother and Do Hain yelled.

Just as I was about to respond, a powerful gust of wind swept through the set, clearing the thick smoke.

The wind was too precise to be natural. There was only one person here capable of pulling this off.

|Pr. Godslayer (Guild Master)|: Spirit Master, was that you?
|Pr. Spirit Master|: I had no choice――^^

The cleared air revealed Kang Hasu coughing and struggling to his feet. When he spotted the mage and me, he let out a sigh of relief.

|Pr. Spirit Master|: I should’ve just gone to meet Doby instead.

Even in this chaos, he still found time for his usual wit. It was almost impressive.
