The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 131: Breath Clash

"We're in trouble! That naive young female Silver Dragon seems really determined to stick with us to the end! Dad, hold on tight."

Just as David was about to leap up and switch to Comet Dragon flight mode to escape with his father before Dewensen's reinforcements arrived, he heard Attilicia's clearly flustered voice:

"Don't! Don't take off! You can't outfly her!"

"...Are you underestimating my burst speed?" David, currently in his Red Dragon form, was instantly displeased.

Although I've only just developed two 'jet engines' on my wings, surely that should make me at least a third faster than the average dragon. Shaking off a young female Silver Dragon whose burst speed is no more than a hundred kilometers per hour should be more than manageable.

"No, I've heard Tania mention that you have an ability that allows you to fly quickly for a short period, but how long can that state last?"

David opened his mouth, but before he could calculate in his mind, he heard his dragon father grumble with some annoyance:

"Back in the day, simply because I accidentally brushed her tail when I passed by her, I got chased around the entire Dragon Island for three laps and still got caught and beaten up by that female dragon! Even if we fly back to the Old Continent the same way we came, she could intercept us over the sea."

"..."

David was stunned and finally realized:

"Wait, you know this female dragon from before?"

Attilicia admitted somewhat reluctantly:

"...Yeah, her name is Shalaina. She's one of the children from the dragon nest on the mountain next to ours. Sort of... a childhood friend of mine, I guess."

"Fuck." There was a moment when David didn't even want to talk.

He felt a twinge of envy (Jealousy) right then. And he was full of complaints. Why was it that his old man was just like Duan Zhengchun, encountering females he knew wherever he went? Would he end up like Duan Yu, where every female he fancied turned out to be his sister?

But now that he knew the tricky situation they were in, they couldn't just sit and wait.

"This won't do," David said. "She'll catch up with us sooner or later at this speed. Think of a plan, quick."

Attilicia was silent for a moment and then came up with a feasible idea:

"You hold her off for a while, and I'll sneak back and pick up that 'Shield' on the main road while they're not looking. Just by changing one spatial coordinate, we can teleport directly to Saeolus City."

As he said this, leaving David in utter disbelief, he transformed at a visible speed into what David would call a silk-furred chinchilla, using Shape Manipulation, and then tried to pry open his son's jaws with his four limbs.

"What are you still standing there for? She's about to catch up!"

Looking at his chinchilla father, who clearly planned to make a run for it first, David instantly became steaming mad.

"Are you kidding me? You want me to hold her off? That's a young Silver Dragon we're talking about!"

Although Attilicia felt it was somewhat disgraceful for a dragon, he was mysteriously confident in his son's strength.

"You even took me down in the Gloomy Region! That female dragon is a bit tricky, but I believe you can do it, son!"

With that, as David was too angry to close his mouth, Attilicia took the opportunity to roll to the ground and dive into a burrow, where he then held his breath and played dead on the spot.

Although he too would like to fight side by side with his son, the problem was they were dealing with a familiar dragon! And it was a familiar dragon who knew him all too well—she would probably recognize him the moment they fought. If she also figured out that they had just stolen the Century Fragrant Fruit seeds, that would be a huge problem! Besides, his son was already a Demigod despite his young age! He might be the weakest Demigod in history, but surely he wouldn't lose to a young female Silver Dragon, right?

"I'm f**king—!!"

Looking at his father who had 'vanished into thin air,' David exploded with Wrath.

He had indeed managed to pin his father down at their first encounter. But what was the situation back then? He had relied on the accumulated Wrath Authority from the Drow of half a Wei City and two streets, plus the combat power amplification from the Wrath of Tiamat. In every aspect, he had been at the absolute peak of his dragon life. And only he knew his own situation. Although he had somehow, incredibly, received a touch of divinity from Tempas, the War God. But his so-called 'Demigod' status was absolutely bogus! Other Demigods were either cultivated and personally sanctioned by deities after 'half a lifetime' of attention, then meditated in the Divine Realm for countless years; or they were mortals who painstakingly honed their skills to the master level, eventually transcended mortal limits to become legendary, and then spent hundreds or thousands of years on their path of Legendary Destiny to comprehend a divinity suitable for themselves. He was nowhere near those kinds of beings! If he had to make a comparison, his situation was akin to a Lanxiang graduate who had just gotten an excavator license suddenly stumbling upon a Gundam from the future. He could barely grasp enough by analogy to start its engine (perceive the existence of the Hall of Valor), but that didn't mean he could pilot this Gundam to fight other Gundams, right? He might not even be able to defeat a slightly more impressive excavator in a fight! After all, he hadn't even figured out how to make the control console work yet. With hardly any Wrath to 'preheat,' how could this be about him stopping that female dragon?! This was practically sending him to be a dragon-meat punching bag!

Wrath.

But at this point, David had no other choice.

He had to keep riling himself up with memories of his unreliable father to 'warm up' and build up the Wrath Authority while drawing air into his lungs through the 'Comet Engines' of his wings.

Then, as he turned his head to see the arrogantly approaching female Silver Dragon, Shalaina, closing in to less than a hundred meters and preparing to dive at him, he suddenly leaped. He twisted his body in mid-air, landed with all six claws gripping the ground, then lifted his neck and head—without any 'telegraphing'—and released the Fire Dragon Breath stored in his lung chambers in one explosive exhalation.

The blaze that appeared suddenly above the forest instantly withered and ignited the dead branches and fallen leaves within a hundred-meter radius.

The female Silver Dragon, Shalaina, who was diving towards David, was wondering where the Drow who had been consorting with the other dragon had gone, when she saw the horrifying orange-red flames. A wave of intense heat hit her face, as if the world in front of her was igniting.

Shalaina was completely shocked. This torrential flame storm... it doesn't seem like something a young Red Dragon could produce. And it's so fast!

But Shalaina had beaten up her age-mates on Dragon Island since she was young; even Attilicia, acknowledged as the prodigy of Dragon Island, had once been defeated by her claws. Only much later did Attilicia far surpass her in magic.

This unexpected encounter didn't make the female Silver Dragon panic; instead, her eyes widened with excitement and pleasure.

The next moment, three sapphires embedded in the scales on her neck simultaneously emitted magical fluctuations.

Swiftness.

Acceleration.

Elemental Protection Shield — Fire.

As these three magical effects came into existence at the same time, Shalaina raised her neck and took a deep breath, her chest expanding significantly.

But at such close range, the orange-red flames had already impacted her. The Elemental Protection Shield — Fire on her body flickered erratically for a moment, then burst like a bubble in an instant. Just as the fiery serpents began to lick at her skin and scales, causing sharp pangs of pain, she still didn't immediately exhale the Frost Breath she had ready.

Because her battle-honed instincts told her: It's not enough! The charge isn't enough to suppress this Fire Dragon Breath!

Her strong competitive desire made this Silver Dragon opt not to dodge, but instead to endure the scorching flames for nearly two seconds while continuing her dive.

Only when her tender nostrils, trachea, and epiglottis began to ache from inhaling the flames did she finally release the Frost Breath stored in her lungs with one powerful exhalation.

The next moment, the Silver Dragon was engulfed by the Fire Dragon Breath midair, as all the Druids behind looked on in concern and disbelief.

A muffled BOOM echoed.

The cold Frost Breath and the scorching Fire Dragon Breath collided in midair. A vast cloud of steam instantly formed, and the surrounding air, due to the drastic temperature changes, whipped into a fierce storm that scattered outwards. The shockwave from the explosion first snuffed out the ignited forest below, leaving scorched branches and leaves teetering precariously.

The smaller trees closer to the blast center were uprooted and flung in all directions.

For a moment, the Elves and Druids who had arrived at the battlefield were utterly disoriented, sent sprawling.

SWISH.

A rainstorm appeared out of nowhere, pouring down torrentially.

"Nicely done, son! I knew I could count on you when it really mattered!"

Watching the clashing Dragon Breaths instantly generate a cloud of mist and a downpour that obscured sight and sound—it's practically comparable to the combined effect of a fourth-tier Fog Spell and a seventh-tier Control Celestials! After all, Control Celestials alone definitely wouldn't be this fast. And, of course, avoiding a direct confrontation is naturally better.

Attilicia, still disguised as a chinchilla playing dead in the burrow, had just uttered his praise when he got a bellyful of the flooding rainwater. He quickly swam out of the burrow before being washed into a deeper crevice, then transformed again, disguising himself as a startled Northern Antelope. However, by sheer bad luck, he ran right into the group of Druids who had been sent sprawling by the shockwave.

Even as an antelope, Attilicia was a Daji among antelopes, with absolutely perfect curves. His stunning appearance instantly silenced the groaning Druids, who transformed into gallant warriors showcasing their tough muscles and iron will, courteously calling out:

"Oh, poor sweetheart, don't be scared. Let me comfort you."

"Ah, damn! This antelope is so beautiful. Sorry, Miss Silver Dragon, but my heart has wandered."

"Come, come into uncle's arms."

As Attilicia fled past them, a thick hand suddenly reached out towards his backside.
