The Reapers : Sons of the Void

Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2: A New World, New TroublesIn

The Throne Room — Final WordsSunlight streams through royal stained-glass windows. Long blue banners ripple behind Pendragon. Miller and Brien remain stunned in the massive throne room.

Pendragon:

"Listen, children. You are not ordinary people. There is power in your blood. But understanding it will take time."

Despite his solemn words, Brien's eyes remain fixed on the velvet cushion of the throne.

Brien (half-serious, half-joking):

"That's certain. I'm still not convinced this throne is real. Can I sit on it?"

Pendragon (deadpan):

"Absolutely not."

Miller mumbles thoughtfully in a corner.

Miller (whispering):

"At least I won't have to worry about toast in the morning anymore. Now I've got new problems: magic, crowns, prophecy…"

Pendragon stands, gently swishing his long cloak.

Pendragon:

"Someone is waiting for you. General Felix. Your training begins. Be ready."

Two enormous doors creak open, as if announcing fate itself.

Meeting General Felix at the DoorOutside the door stands a broad-shouldered, stern-faced man in silver armor—General Felix. He stands at attention; a single eyebrow lifts from his guard, discreetly observing the young pair.

Felix (muttering under his breath):

"There they are… the children of the sacred bloodline… but why does one of them still walk like they've forgotten to wear shoes?"

Miller and Brien approach the door. Brien scrutinizes Felix's shiny armor and whispers to Miller.

Brien (mocking):

"This guy's armor is gleaming like a TV antenna. I'm pretty sure it's going to zap us."

Miller (glancing politely, low voice):

"That's not zapping… it's reflection. Physics."

Brien:

"Okay, Einstein."

Felix finally speaks, his voice deep and commanding.

Felix:

"Your names."

Brien:

"Brien. From Warwick, England. Last night I was freezing, and this morning I got teleported into a dragon palace. Yes… still processing."

Miller:

"Miller. From Ontario, Canada. I liked my toast. Now I'm dealing with prophecies."

Felix narrows his eyes, turning to Pendragon.

Felix (whispering):

"Are you serious? These two… heirs of the sacred bloodline?"

Pendragon (slight smile):

"Don't judge by what you see. Wait and feel, Felix. Their true nature will reveal itself in time."

Felix:

"Hmph. I hope you're right. Because right now, they just look like the morning show duo."

Walking Through the Palace Gardens — Training BeginsThey walk through the garden lined with massive stone columns. Felix leads; Miller and Brien trail behind, whispering.

Brien:

"This guy even smells like war when he walks. Watch his steps—he's cleaving enemies with each footfall."

Miller (holding back laughter):

"He probably irons his armor at night. That's why it's so shiny—no other explanation."

Brien:

"What do you think—should I get armor too? Maybe I could join the White-Haired-Prince club."

Miller:

"First learn not to trip, then worry about slicing enemies."

Felix Stops and TurnsFelix:

"We begin here. I'll explain the War-Ring System. In this world, power is measured… by control."

Brien (trying to get serious):

"War… ring? Is that a piece of jewelry or… a doughnut?"

Miller (facepalm):

"Oh my god, Brien… please no."

Felix (rolling his eyes):

"Each warrior has an energy ring. Also called 'power ring.'

1 ring = 10 units of power. Reach 10 rings, and you hit 100% capacity.

But reaching that level takes years. Or… if your bloodline grants it—inheritance."

Brien (to himself):

"War ring… power… inheritance…

So my morning alarm battles don't count, right?"

Narrator Returns (softly)"Two strangers ventured into this unknown realm.

They didn't yet know their enemies—or even themselves…

But something within them stirred to life.

The Reaper bloodline took its first breath.

And this world… would never be the same again."

The Three BloodlinesAt the Training CourtyardA massive stone courtyard hosts a giant statue of a warrior holding an orb. Felix sizes up Brien and Miller. Both are now visibly restless.

Brien (hands shoved in pockets):

"Alright, General, serious question… Why are we so special?

Pendragon mentioned prophecy, lineage, crowns— but no one's given us concrete answers. What's the deal?"

Miller (barely nodding):

"Yes. What's this Reaper thing? Why were we chosen? I never thought I'd inherit anything other than my toaster in Canada."

Felix closes his eyes, inhales deeply. His voice becomes steady and strong.

Felix Explains: The Chosen BloodlinesFelix:

"Listen. Not everyone in this world is the same.

Thousands of years ago… three noble bloodlines were forged to preserve the cosmic balance. We call them the Chosen Bloodlines.

One of those is yours—the Reapers.

Each bloodline embodies a different essence. A different balance."

Brien:

"Three bloodlines? So we're… basically video-game character types? Like selectable heroes?

Am I a mage or a dragon?"

Felix (raising an eyebrow):

"You are of the Reaper line.

Reapers carry the 'Predator Spirit.'

Within them dwells pure martial energy melded with darkness.

When emotions overflow, their eyes flash white.

Your strength doesn't come from anger—it comes from discipline.

Your war rings amplify you beyond ordinary humans.

But a Reaper without control can annihilate an army."

Miller (gulping):

"That… sounds amazing. Terrifying."

Brien:

"So I'm… a real-life superhero?

I've always been average…but now I've got white eyes, a war ring, and a secret secret lineage?"

Felix:

"I haven't finished. Reapers are just the first bloodline.

The second: Nebulises."

Nebulises: Masters of DeathFelix (voice darkening):

"Nebulises control death magic. They can summon the dead, wield bones and soul energy as weapons.

Their eyes turn misty-blue; grey magic flows from their hands.

But their power is dangerous. If a Nebulise loses himself…

…they drift between life and death.

And may annihilate friend and foe alike."

Brien (shuddering):

"So… a zombie-taming class?"

Miller:

"Or a necromancer walking death's shadow…

What about the third bloodline?"

Vertikans: Beasts of the WildFelix:

"The third: Vertikans.

They are bonded with animal spirits.

Some join with wolves, others eagles or tigers.

In battle, they transform—claws, fangs, wild instincts.

Their loyalty stands as firm as mountains.

But if they don't rein in their inner beast, they become feral creatures."

Brien:

"That… is incredible. I'd be a bear. I love my morning naps, after all."

Miller:

"Or an eagle—fly away and keep out of trouble. Quiet and free."

Felix:

"You two—Reapers.

Pendragon has watched over you for years.

Nebulises and Vertikans are awakening too.

But you two are first called. Because when Reapers awaken…

…the world must awaken too."

Reactions: Shock, Humor, CuriosityBrien (hands on his head):

"Wait, wait…

So we weren't just a couple of random kids?

I'm… the Sword of Fate!

What a cosmic joke!"

Miller (quiet grin):

"And I'm a philosopher-warrior now. Thanks, universe."

Felix:

"Mock all you want. But knowing the truth… means being prepared.

Remember: each bloodline brings its own calamity.

But if all three unite… the world will either be saved… or destroyed."

The Hidden DangerFelix pauses. His eyes lock onto Brien and Miller. He speaks quietly with gravitas.

Felix:

"But… there's one more thing I haven't told you."

Brien and Miller lean forward. Even Brien's jokes fade in anticipation.

Felix:

"In the past 30 years, Nebulises and Vertikans multiplied.

But as their power grew… so did their insanity."

Miller:

"Insanity how, exactly?"

Felix:

"They lost control. They went mad.

Vertikans, unable to tame their beasts, became monsters.

Nebulises… they conversed with so many dead souls… they lost their own."

Brien (gulping):

"And… then what happened?"

Felix:

"They fled— all of them—to the Darkwood Forest.

There they vanish—caught between life and death.

Neither fully human nor fully beast or spirit."

Miller (softly):

"What drove them mad? Power? A curse?"

Felix (furrowing brow, looking downward):

"We don't know.

We've tried, watched, studied.

No answers.

That's why we must protect you.

You are Reapers.

And currently… the only stable lineage left."

The WarningFelix stares straight at them.

Felix:

"That's why… no one must know you are Reapers."

Brien:

"What, like undercover hero mode?"

Felix:

"Exactly.

To outsiders, you are Pendragon's guards.

But inside… you are carriers of fate.

Protect yourselves. Hide your power.

And remember…

The maddened still roam the forest.

They might be watching."

Miller (biting his lip):

"I understand now why we're on high alert."

Brien (shrugs):

"So I'm a sacred chosen… and a secret agent.

If ever I return to Canada, this is Oscar-worthy."

Felix (stern):

"This is no joke, Brien.

This world is a chain of secrets.

You two are only the first rings."

Narrator — End Scene"Hidden bloodlines, haunted forests, madness-born sorcerers…

And the first awakening of the Reaper rings.

Brien and Miller's power stirred to life.

But questions loomed:

Was madness the end…

Or the beginning of a call?"

Brien vs. the NarratorFelix finishes, the air grows heavy. Reaper secrets, fate's weight—Miller is silent, and Brien is… almost serious. Almost.

Narrator (epic tone):"And there… the children of the Reaper line took their first steps toward true destiny.

A power destined to reshape the world.

But they still didn't know…"

Brien suddenly looks up at the air.

Brien:

"No, no, no! Enough!"

Miller and Felix stare in confusion.

Miller:

"What are you doing, Brien?"

Felix (eyebrow arches):

"…Who are you talking to?"

Brien (pointing upward):

"I'm talking to you! Yes, you!

That dramatic, mysterious voice!

Always dropping epic lines, stressing us out.

'The world will change… the prophecy will awaken…'

I just wanted to make toast this morning!"

Narrator (unfazed):"But Brien hadn't yet realized his inner power.

He could not escape fate."

Brien (hands to his head):

"See that? It's still talking!

Who are you, pal? Radio host?

Miller, do you hear this voice too?!"

Miller (biting back laughter):

"I do… but it's not terrible. It's kinda... poetic. Bookish."

Brien (shrugs):

"I don't want bookish. I want AC."

(Air Conditioning.)

Narrator (snickering):"And so Brien tried to flee the grandeur of destiny.

But escape was not an option."

Brien (hands on hips):

"I'll talk to you later, Narrator!

You're killing my vibe already!"

Felix (shaking his head):

"This one… might be truly lost."

Miller:

"No, General. That's just… his natural setting."

Narrator — final line:"And so… the debut day of the borderline crazy, Reaper-line had closed."
