The Pinnacle of the Navy! Starting from Being Captured by Garp

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Training Ground Disturbance

"Swish!"

On the elite camp's training ground, the sun was high in the sky, and heat waves shimmered. The air distorted slightly, and three figures appeared out of thin air.

Zephyr had his back to the cadets, his hands on his hips as he reprimanded a few slackers. He suddenly sensed the fluctuation in presence and spun around. He saw Roy appear in the center of the open ground with two others, the after-effects of the teleportation rippling at their feet like waves on water.

Zephyr took off his sunglasses and raised an eyebrow, shouting, "You brat! Where have you been these past two days?!"

Roy smiled wryly and scratched the back of his neck. "I can't help it, Instructor. Old Man Garp threw two little kids at me and then ran off to have fun himself. I'm practically a kindergarten teacher now."

Zephyr was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing, a laugh so loud that all the cadets on the training ground turned to look. After his laughter stopped, his gaze shifted to the飒爽 figure behind Roy. It was a woman in a Marine lieutenant's uniform, with short pink hair and a determined look in her eyes, standing straight with a standard military posture. "Who is this?"

Roy immediately turned and pointed to her. "Instructor, this is Bell-mère, from the East Blue."

"She has only just been introduced to the concept of Haki, but she was able to get a feel for it on her first try!"

"Hmm?" Zephyr's brow furrowed slightly. His sunglasses shifted up, and his sharp gaze scanned Bell-mère up and down. "From the East Blue? Never been exposed to Haki, and you could feel something on your first try?"

Bell-mère immediately stood at attention, her voice crisp and powerful. "Head Instructor Zephyr!" Her eyes didn't flinch, as if they were burning with fire, and even her breathing carried a sense of determination.

Zephyr stared at her for a moment, a hint of admiration in his eyes, then he waved a large hand. "From today on, you'll train with the new recruits! The Marines need more people like you!"

"Yes, sir!"

Just then, a tender but stubborn voice interjected. "Mr. Zephyr, me too!" Ace suddenly jumped out from behind Roy, his eyes shining, his hands clenched into fists. "I want to train too!"

Zephyr looked down at the six-year-old kid, his mouth twitching slightly as he sneered, "Kid, the training here is not child's play."

Ace held his head high, his eyes burning with fighting spirit. "I'm not afraid! Roy said I have a lot of talent!"

Zephyr raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Roy, who smiled wryly and shrugged. "He does learn very quickly."

"Hmph, stubborn kid." Zephyr snorted coldly and suddenly reached out a large hand, pressing it on Ace's head.

"VMMM—!" An invisible pressure descended like a mountain. Ace's whole body stiffened, his limbs feeling as if they were filled with lead, his legs trembling uncontrollably. Sweat dripped like raindrops, but he bit his lip hard, desperately trying to keep his knees from buckling.

"Wh-what is this..." Ace trembled all over, the veins on his forehead bulging, but he stubbornly held on.

Zephyr raised an eyebrow slightly, a hint of surprise in his eyes, then he sneered and withdrew the pressure. "Not bad, kid. You actually managed to hold on."

Ace panted heavily, his face red, but he glared at Zephyr. "I-I said I could do it!"

Zephyr looked at those stubborn eyes and suddenly burst out laughing, his voice as loud as thunder. "Alright! You can train too, but if you can't take it, get lost!"

Ace gritted his teeth and gave a big smile. "I will definitely not lose!"

The new recruits of the elite camp had already lined up, all looking at the two newcomers with burning gazes.

"A female Marine from the East Blue? Can she do it?"

"Whose kid is that? He's only five or six, right? Can he even train with us?"

The discussions were endless.

"All of you, shut up!" Zephyr roared, his voice like a thunderclap, silencing all the new recruits.

"Today's lesson—Armament hardening!" He raised his hand, his five fingers slightly clenched, and his fist was instantly enveloped in black Armament Haki, like obsidian. The next second, he punched the iron post beside him—"BOOM!" The steel post was instantly pierced, and iron filings flew everywhere. The ground even trembled slightly.

Bell-mère's pupils constricted violently, her whole body stiffening. "So this is... 'Black Arm'..."

Zephyr shook his arm, his tone calm. "Armament Haki's essence lies in its 'flow.' Hardening is just the beginning." His gaze was as sharp as a hawk's as he locked onto Bell-mère. "You, come up and try."

Bell-mère took a deep breath, her gaze meeting Zephyr's without flinching. She then stepped out of the crowd and walked to the training iron post. She squared her shoulders, planted her feet, and slowly raised her right arm. A faint gray shadow, barely visible, appeared on the surface of her arm—it was her unformed Armament Haki.

"Hah—!" She let out a low shout and slammed her fist down.

"BANG!" The iron post made a dull sound, its surface only trembling slightly, leaving a barely noticeable shallow mark. She slammed her fist down, and the iron post made a dull sound, its surface slightly dented, leaving a shallow fist print.

The new recruits at the side whispered among themselves, a hint of confusion in their eyes—it seemed far from the "Haki strike" they had imagined. Bell-mère frowned, gritted her teeth, her face showing no sign of沮丧, but rather a strong unwillingness and fighting spirit.

Zephyr slowly walked over, looked at her silently, his gaze still as sharp as a blade, but his tone held no trace of mockery. He reached out and pressed her arm, his voice deep. "You're trying too hard."

"Haki is not an iron armor. Gritting your teeth is useless." His palm slid lightly from Bell-mère's wrist to her elbow, as if tracing some kind of flowing path. "Feel it. It's not steel that's being forced in, but a—flowing power—that naturally flows into your bones and muscles with your blood, with your will."

Bell-mère pursed her lips tightly and closed her eyes, letting Zephyr's voice echo in her mind. She tried to relax. She tried not to "force it." She tried to let that vague power truly rise from the bottom of her heart, extending from her blood vessels, from her fingertips—

After a moment, her arm still had not fully blackened, but that weak gray shadow was no longer broken. "Hah..." She suddenly opened her eyes and raised her fist again. "Hah—!" The fist whistled as it fell.

"BANG!" The iron post trembled more obviously than before. Although it still wasn't dented, the aftershock had already stirred the dust on the ground. She shook her fist, let out a breath, her forehead slightly sweaty, but she grinned. "It's still not enough, but—I've got a feel for it now!"

Zephyr didn't respond, but his gaze on her held a new depth. He turned around and said lightly, "This kind of unyielding ruthlessness... not bad."

The new recruits standing nearby didn't hear clearly, but they saw it—Zephyr's mouth curved up slightly. For these newcomers, that was already a legendary "exceptional praise."

Bell-mère looked at Zephyr's back, her fists tightening, her eyes like fire.

On the other side, Ace had been assigned to the lightest iron post. He looked up at it and muttered with a look of defiance, "You're underestimating me!"

"You brat, don't be so arrogant. First learn to control your power." Zephyr casually tossed him a pair of gloves and said coldly, "Don't break your hands."

Ace unwillingly put them on, clenched his fists like Bell-mère, and closed his eyes, imagining the "flow of power."

"BANG!" "Oww!" The iron post didn't move an inch, but Ace's hand swelled up, and he winced in pain.

Roy helplessly knelt down, gently held Ace's wrist, and said warmly, "Haki isn't about brute force. Feel my arm." He then covered his right arm with Armament Haki and extended it in front of Ace. "Here, do you feel it? It's not brute force, it's density and flowing power."

Ace was stunned. His fingertips touched the arm that felt like steel yet was flexible, and his eyes suddenly lit up. "I-I get it!" He swung his fist again, this time a faint black ripple appearing on his fist.

"CLANG!" The iron post trembled slightly and actually let out a small humming sound.

Zephyr glanced over from a distance, a slight smile on his lips. "...He really does have some talent."

The new recruits nearby were even more dumbfounded. "That little kid actually... he can harden it too?"

"Comparing people is infuriating!!!"

Just as the training was in full swing, a playful sound suddenly came from the side of the field. "Waaahhh! Ace! I want to play too!"

Luffy had snuck in at some point. He was holding onto an iron post with both hands, his feet dangling in the air as he swung back and forth like on a swing, his face full of excitement.

Roy's face darkened. "How did this little ancestor get here..."

A vein popped on Zephyr's forehead, his eyes widening. "Garp's bastard genes are a plague!" The next second, his gaze sharpened, and he roared, "Everyone, listen up! Today's extra training—catching a monkey! Whoever catches that little kid is exempt from ten laps!"

"YES, SIR!!!" The new recruits instantly swarmed forward like hounds.

Luffy screamed and scrambled between the iron posts. "Help me! Ace!!!"

Ace covered his face. "You idiot..."

Bell-mère watched this scene, a slight smile on her lips. "This training camp... is really lively."

Roy looked at the chaotic scene and couldn't help but smile, thinking to himself, "A Navy like this doesn't seem so bad..."
