The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 90: Victor Westland

Bane walked into the building that felt more like he was walking into a castle with a feeling like something was following him. When Ezio had asked him about if anyone might hurt Lysia because of his actions, Bane had felt something enter his body, reacting with his anger at the thought of anyone doing anything to her.

Now, whatever that thing was, it was following Bane as a massive shadow on the white marble floor. It was a good thing that the house was so bright, otherwise, it would have been hard for him to see the shadow.

"So, that's what that thing is," Bane said, looking at the shadow.

'A Demon,' Eve replied, making Bane pause, and look at the shadow.

"Onyx just let it into my body before?" Bane asked.

'The being had no ill intent, so there was no reason to block it.'

Bane narrowed his eyes on the shadow. He didn't know much about demons, but he was pretty sure ill intent was all they knew.

"What do you want with me?" Bane asked the shadow, but it didn't reply.

Shaking his head, Bane turned back and headed deeper into the house/castle. The floors were white marble, but the rest of the place was in dark colors, with even darker paintings. Bane stopped at one of these paintings, narrowing his eyes at the horrific scene that was depicted.

It was a large room, with people hanging from the walls, but there was an odd thing about them. They didn't have heads, but a dark shadow covered their shoulders. The painting looked like a dark fairytale, and the more Bane looked at the paintings, the more his stomach churned.

"What is this?" Bane asked, but the voice that answered wasn't in his head this time.

"They are memories, and the ones in that painting are a reminder. Don't get attached to people. They only serve as a distraction, and in the end, they will betray you," a hoarse voice spoke, and Bane turned to see the man with narrowed eyes wearing a hooded black trench coat.

"People do be like that," Bane said with a nod, then offered his hand. "I am sure you know who I am, but let me introduce myself. My name is Bane Takashi."

Victor looked at Bane's hand, then back at him. "Victor Westland. What do you want, Trouble Maker?"

Bane took his hand back and laughed. "I heard you like to play with bones and hold midnight black mass. I have an affinity for demonic energy, and you summon demons. I would have to be pretty dense not to think the two might have something to do with each other, right? You were also staring at me earlier, so something about me must have intrigued you."

Victor stared at Bane with narrowed eyes, and Bane just grinned at the man.

"You are the same as me," Victor said, making Bane blink, but then shrugged.

"If you mean that I can use demonic energy, then yes," Bane replied, but then Victor frowned.

"Use it? From within your body? How do you absorb it?"

The frown was slowly turning into an inquisitive look of a man truly interested, and it was true. Victor was very surprised by this, considering how this should be impossible. Human bodies were not built to house demonic energy, unless they had an affinity for it, but that basically made the person a demon. This meant that the man that stood before him defied the Divine Realm, and was almost like a messiah of sorts, but was he?

"Did I finally get your attention? Do you think you could also tell me about the black spot that has been following me? I am pretty sure it is a demon, and it jumped into my body when I was just outside your house."

Victor's eyes went wide. "It is here?"

The man was about to ask more, but a voice from the side cut him off.

"Master Westland, it has been some time. This child that has come to my home is an anomaly, and I would like to take him."

Both Bane and Victor turned to look at a picture of Victor's face that was hanging on the wall that had just talked.

"Take me? You have to say please first," Bane warned, and the painting started to laugh.

"Do you even understand who I am? Or what I can do? I could turn your body into a puppet, or make it rot away in front of your very eyes. I am not a demon that you can deal with," the painting growled, and Bane just smiled.

"Just try me. I have something that will stop anything you do!" Bane said confidently, knowing that Onyx would stop anything that tried to take his life, but then the AGI's voice spoke up in his mind.

'Having a bit too much fun with all this power you have? Do you really think that I can protect you from stupid? Spend a few months with the demons, and maybe you will learn to be a bit more humble. Good luck, idiot.'

Bane felt his skin grow cold. 'Shit. Wait! We can talk about this!'

Onyx was gone, and the painting laughed again. "I see! So, you really are special! The Rogue crafted you, hmm? And now he is giving you to me to train? Very well!"

Bane tried to run, but his body refused to move.

"No point. This Onyx told me what I am to do, and you are coming to the Demon World with me for training-"

"Fine. But let me say goodbye to my wife before I go," Bane growled, cutting the painting off.

"You really think you can order me around?"

Bane growled his next words out loud and in his head. "I will do this, but if you do not allow me this one thing, I promise that I will make both of you regret it in the future!"

The painting went silent, then sighed. "Very well. One hour, no more."

Bane's body could move again, and he let out a breath, not even noticing the wide-eyed look he was getting from Victor. Bane vanished, leaving the building, and Victor and the painting alone.

"Are you really going to take him to your world?" Victor asked, feeling puzzled. "He is a human."

The painting snorted. "If that is a human, then I am a duck. No, this thing is a dark seed planted, and now it is being nurtured. You have no understanding of what this creature's true purpose is. I do, and even I am concerned about what it will mean for the future. Still, it seems to love something, so that might be the only thing that prevents him from destroying everything."

"A Dark Seed?" Victor questioned.

The painting was silent for a few seconds, then spoke. "The seed has sprouted. What will bloom from it, no one knows, and now, neither do I. Still, I will do as the Rogue asks. Our worlds are all on a crash path to become eternal slaves, but I am not sure if this child is the right answer."
