Chapter 30: Love Me Like You Do
So love me like you do. Lo, lo, love me like you. What are you waiting for?
You're the day, you're the night
You're colour of my blood...
I sang along to the loud music playing in my earpods.
Waking up this morning, Alexander was gone. I just shrugged it off and went about my morning routine. I'll be going over to Ava's apartment to get my belongings and then we'd go on a shopping spree.
Alexander actually dropped a black card on my bedside table with a written note that wrote.....
'5019. That's my pin. Have fun today, Angel.'
I just simply smiled to myself. How thoughtful of him.
I walked to the dining table and simply stared at the variety of food on the table. I sat down after acknowledging John's presence. I took just two bites from the toasted bread in front of me and gulped down a glass full of juice.
I stood up and made my way out of the dining room but John's voice stopped me.
"Ma'am, you didn't have a proper breakfast."
I turned and smiled at him. "You can have the rest, John. I'm not really hungry. I'll be on my way." With that, I turned and left.
My eyebrows furrowed at the guy who was dressed in a neat suit standing in front of me.
"What did you just say?" I asked in confusion.
"I'd be your driver for today and they'd be your bodyguards for today," he said, gesturing to two other guys who stood at the side and were dressed similar to him.
"Why? Obviously, I can take care of myself." The guy simply shook his head at me with an indifferent expression on his face.
"We were strictly instructed not to let you step outside the house alone."
"Fine! What an overbearing husband I have," I sighed and walked to the sleek car with the door ajar. I slid into the back sit and settled in. The driver got behind the wheel and drove off with another car trailing behind us.
I bolted out of the car as soon as it stopped in front of Ava's apartment. I rushed towards Ava who was already standing outside with her arms stretched wide. I engulfed her in a tight embrace and she feathered kisses all over my face.
"Look at you, baby! You reek of wealth already." I rolled my eyes and laughed out.
"You're playing," I said, rolling my eyes at her, earning a wide smile from her.
"Cmon! Let's head upstairs." She swung her arm around my shoulders as she led me upstairs.
*************
"Tell me, which one do you think will look good on me? The red or the yellow one?" Ava asked, showing me two floral dresses that were in her hands.
Currently we're in a shopping mall and it seems like Ava wants to buy the the whole mall.
We got here shortly after I had taken some of my belongings - by 'some', I mean, the medium sized, rectangular wooden box that contained the only things I had in memory of my dead parents.
My clothes?
When I stared at the shaggy clothes in my wardrobe, I couldn't help but shudder at the sight. I have to agree with Alexander that they're rags.
No offense to myself!
The only clothe I collected was the one Alexander got me for the dinner party. He bought it for me, yes, so it's literally mine.
"What if I tell you that Alexander didn't give me his card. What are you going to do?" I asked Ava with an amusing smirk on my lips.
She sharply looked up at me and raised her brows.
She had been overjoyed since I told her Alexander gave me his black card for shopping.
"You're kidding, right?" I tilted my head to the side and bobbed my head at her. She immediately attacked me giving me a hard but playful bite on my arm, making me to laugh out loud.
"I'm only joking, Ava, the bite was unnecessary," I whined lowly, glaring at her.
"That's what you get for joking with me." She lightly flicked my forehead and ruffled my hair.
I swatted her hand away and ruffled her hair too. She shot me a stymied look and I smiled before hugging her.
"Not only did you steal my man, you're also here being all lovey dovey with a girl?" A familiar but strange voice said from behind me.
I swiftly turned to look at the owner of the voice, only to come face to face with....eh...What is that her name again? Nina? Nazareth? Nicole?
Nicole! Yes! That's definitely her name.
I eyed her from head to toe. She was looking beautiful and classy, with an intimidating look on her face.
I let out an awkward laugh and rubbed my neck nervously.
Why am I suddenly feeling antsy in front of her? Is it because she looks intimidating or because she was Alexander's ex lover?
I felt this pang of jealousy in my chest and glared at her out of contempt. She's my husband's ex lover. She was my Alexander's lover.
Wait! I just sounded possessive...I opened my mouth to say something to her but Ava beat me to it.
"And who are you?" Ava asked her and she gave Ava a disgusted look before turning back to me.
"I know you simply got married to Alexander because of his money. I also know girls like you. You're a freaking gold digger who wants to leech off on Alexander. He possibly wouldn't want to do anything with a low life like you. You probably seduced him to sleep with you." Her lips was now curved into a snarl and at this point my hands are desperately itching to slap her hard across her face.
Ava seems to notice this because she held my hand and gently tugged me behind her back, coming face to face with Nicole.
"I don't know who the hell you are but if you insult my friend one more time, I'll make sure your beautiful face is brutally ruined and your perfect legs severely broken. Just one more word and I'll make you lick the floor with your tongue. Do not try me." Ava titled her head upwards in a challenging manner.
Nicole's mouth clamped shut and she glared hard at Ava.
If she loves her beautiful face, she'd better keep her mouth shut. Because, I know, Ava meant every word she said.
I came out from behind Ava and stood beside her, flashing Nicole a harsh glare.
"I usually don't fight over a man. But this is my husband we're talking about. Emphasis on the 'my'. You may have gotten the boy but I got the man and the ring. Alexander is mine and mine alone! You can go and hang yourself or drown yourself for all I care." With that I took Ava's hand and pulled her away, purposely hitting Nicole's shoulder with mine.
The nerves she has. She just ruined my perfect day.
"I would've connected my fist with that crazy witch's face. Who the hell is she?" Ava asked when we got outside the mall and started approaching our car that was parked by the side with the bodyguards leaning on it.
"I wanted to slap her hard on the face too. She's actually Alexander's ex girlfriend, who cheated on him. And ever since I got engaged to Alexander she has been a constant pest," I huffed out in annoyance.
"She's crazy. I think she needs to be at the rehab. But, c'mon girl, you were so possessive back there with the 'Alexander is mine! He's my husband!'. You literally claimed him. If I didn't know better I would've thought you meant those words," Ava said, wiggling her brows and grinning at me.
I just simply shook my head at her and smiled widely.
I didn't even know when I used those words. I just wanted to put that Nicole girl in her place.
Ava handed her shopping bags to one of the bodyguards and entered the car, followed suit and the car immediately zoomed out of the shopping mall premises.
I guess Alexander would be home by now. I can't wait to get on his nerves!
