The Mafia Prince's Angel:His Miracle

Chapter 14: Don't Freak Out

Thud! Thud! Thud!

I could hear the sound of my own heartbeat resonating in my ears as I slowly regained consciousness. The familiar surroundings of my room came into focus and I immediately sat up but regretted it afterwards as a pang of headache permeated my skull, causing me to instinctively squeeze my eyes shut.

Gently, I lifted my eyelids as I cast my gaze around my familiar room once more.

How did I get here?

I could remember I was still at that scary room before everything blacked out.

Did they conduct an experiment on me??

The words of the doctor echoed in my ears, leaving me in a state of bewilderment and curiosity. Why on earth would they mention something concerning my blood? Questions raced through my thoughts, each one seeking answers and clarity.

I quickly looked up when the door opened but heaved out a sigh in relief afterwards when Ava came in with a steaming cup of coffee.

"Oh...my, Ivory. I was so worried about you", she said as she dropped the cup of coffee on the table and engulfed me in a tight hug.

"I called your line non-stop but it wasn't going through. I was so worried sick, Ivory. What happened? Why didn't you tell me you were going to sleep over at that handsome hunk's place? A brief message would've done the...."

"I was kidnapped, Ava," I immediately cut her off before she could finish.

"You were what?" Ava asked in a disbelieving tone.

"Who did you say brought me back home?" I asked her while collecting the cup of coffee from her.

"A huge guy in suit and black shades. He said he was a friend and that you slept at his place, so he decided to bring you back home." She was now on the bed beside me, checking if I was hurt.

"And you believed that cooked up lie. I was kidnapped by my boss and my manager, Ava," I said as tears flooded my eyes and narrated the whole ordeal to her.

Ava was now fuming and pacing up and down the room with a frown on her face.

"Who in the freaking hell forces a lady to marry his son and when she refuses, he kidnaps her? Who does that Ivory?" She suddenly halted in front of me and squinted her eyes at me.

"You said something about his offer, right? How much did he offer?" She said as she sat down on the edge of my bed and collected the cup of coffee from me.

I paused for a while and nervously bit my lips. Ava is definitely going to freak out if I tell her the amount.

"Ten million dollars." I looked up at her to see her mouth agape and her eyes as wide as saucers. "I know this is the facial reaction I'll get from you," I added with a little smile.

She quickly shook her head a little before saying, "Ten million what? You rejected ten million dollars, Ivory?"

"Is that all you're going to say? My life was at stake too and I wouldn't ever get married to a total stranger just for money," I retorted in annoyance.

"In as much as I love and care about you Ivory and I do not support the idea of your bosses having to go as far as kidnapping you but you fucked up, Ivory. Do you know what you could do with ten million dollars? You'll achieve all your dreams with just half of the money."

"You didn't even give him an option of giving you time to think about it. Baby, I would've agreed if it were me though." I gave her a hard glare and she flashed me a grin.

"I want to get married to a man I love and not to a total stranger." She looked at me and scoffed.

"You haven't even dated any guy before, Ivory. Sometimes, I wonder if you have a secret wish of being a nun." I burst out laughing at her words.

A nun? Ava can't be serious.

"Why would you think that?" I asked her with a chuckle.

"That's because you never dated anyone, both male and female. You automatically turn down any guy that shows interest in you." I gave her a tight smile and shrugged.

She sighed lowly and came closer to me.

"I really do respect your decisions as it is your life and I do not necessarily have a say in it, but, sometimes Ivory, you just have to loosen up a little. Be free, live your life to the fullest, baby girl. Life's too short to be sitting around miserable." She touched my shoulder and gave it a little squeeze.

I started fiddling with my fingers clumsily. She's actually right though. After my parents death, I lost the zeal to do a lot of things, not that I'm the outgoing type. But I've actually lost interest in things that I enjoy doing.

"I just don't want to date now. I'm waiting for the right one, Ava." She narrowed her eyes and nodded slowly.

"You'd wait for the right one till thy kingdom come," she said sarcastically and I hit her on the shoulder playfully earning a loud laugh from her.

"I love you, Ava," I said and rested my head on her shoulder and she wrapped her hand on my lower back.

Ava has been a great friend to me and I wonder were I would've been without her. She gives me this sense of comfort more than anybody else and she's always been there for me.

"I love you too, my baby," she muttered lowly. "Hope you aren't trying to sleep on my shoulder?" She said after a few seconds of silence.

"No, I'm just resting," I replied.

"Do you want to eat..." She was abruptly cut off by the loud sound of her ringing tone. She answered the phone call and placed the phone on her ear.

I immediately flinched when she screamed and I looked at her to see a shocked expression on her face.

What did the caller tell her for her to react like this?

She immediately turned to look at me before she spranged up from the bed and rushed out of my room in a dash.

I immediately stood up too and followed behind her in worry.

Who the hell called her and what did the caller tell her?
