Ch. 10
Chapter 10
"I'm seriously exhausted......"
Centipede—defeated.
Rounds used: 145. Battle duration: 20 minutes.
After taking one hit, I switched to a retreating-fire style (firing while backing away). That made it take longer.
Now then, time to review the spoils of war.
LV: 8 → 11
Drop Items:
- Dust Mirage (special cloak)!
- SCH-100+ (saber)
- Debug Kits ×3
- 3,500 chips
"Whoa! That one looks amazing."
The '!' mark must mean it's a rare drop. Let's check the details for Dust Mirage.
'Description: A camouflage gear rarely awarded to those who defeat Centipede. Proof of a new desert king. Equipping this cloak increases stealth by 1.5x (2.5x on sand). Additionally, if you remain still for three seconds on sand, you blend into it, making visual detection nearly impossible. Duration: 120 seconds. Reload Time: 60 seconds.'
Th-this—is—strong!
An increase in stealth is a huge deal for a sniper.
In terms of detection, radar and stealth are like offense and defense. If your radar stat exceeds another unit's stealth stat, their position will appear on your radar (which has a 250m radius detection range).
A sniper hides and targets their prey. That's why stealth is crucial. An unconditional 1.5x boost—and 2.5x on sand—is massive.
(And I got a rare drop! I'm way too happy...!)
Let's equip it immediately.
Next, let's look at the details for the SCH-100, or S100 for short.
'Power: 1. EN Storage: 1. Range: 1. Expandability: 1. Custom Capacity: 20. Weight: Medium. Description: A laser saber awarded to those who defeat Centipede. Highly customizable—freely editable. Bonus: if you apply a poison custom, the blade turns purple. The base stats are low, so customize it as much as you want.'
(Customizable?)
I pull the manual from my item pouch and read.
'~About Customization~ Weapons with a '+' in their name can be plus-customized. To perform a plus-custom, you need "Parts" such as Damage Parts. Each part increases one stat by +1. You can apply as many parts as the weapon's custom capacity allows. Below are the stats each part enhances.'
I see! So I can modify weapon stats.
From the local mobs I defeated, I've collected: Damage Parts (boosts power), Spread Parts (boosts expandability), Bullet Parts (increases ammo capacity), and Chase Parts (boosts homing ability). I was ready to start customizing, but apparently you can't do that unless you're at base. Too bad. For now, I'll just equip the saber.
Lastly, the Debug Kits. These are consumable items that heal status ailments. Quietly important.
Now that the boss is down, I guess I should look for a way home.
Respawning... is absolutely not an option. Before the boss fight, sure—but after getting a rare drop, and a useful weapon at that, there's no way I'm respawning.
That leaves hitching a ride on another Space Girl's spaceship... ugh. That would require some degree of communication.
Hmm. What should I do? Maybe I should just PK someone and steal their ship.
"No, no, no... resorting to PK when in trouble is a bad habit. I learned that the hard way in the last game."
Maybe the manual has a solution for this kind of situation. Let's read it over.
The moment I pull out the manual—'WARNING' floats into my field of view.
"Huh?"
Followed by a system message.
—'TOILET ALERT. TOILET ALERT.'
—'Detected fluid in danger zone within bladder.'
—'360 seconds until forced release.'
"......"
To put it bluntly, here's the situation:
In real life—I'm going to wet myself in six minutes.
