Chapter 10: Decapitation (2)
"Father, after we return this time, can I still go on expeditions with you? I want to learn more from you."
"You should stay at home with your mother."
"Maybe you and mother can have another child. I want a sister, so she can stay with mother. As for me, I can continue to go into battle with you."
In the wind and snow, Richie rode his horse, following Gray closely.
"Don't you want to stay with your mother?"
"No, I do, but didn't you say that a Knight should walk the path of justice?"
"Yes, but there will never come a day when you need to fight. Before that day comes, I will handle everything."
"Then won't my life be very boring? Father, that's not fair."
Archil Norman had already transformed into a dragon, soaring in the sky. Gray and Richie followed closely, along with other members of the envoy.
The fierce wind carried snowflakes and ice crystals, turning the whole world into a white expanse. Looking up, they couldn't even see the sky.
"We thought the weather would be better when we left, but it's worse than when we came! Is heaven deliberately opposing us?" Aickleion muttered to himself as he trudged through the snowstorm, rolling his eyes tirelessly.
Vivian and Catherine, having concealed their forms, floated back and forth beside Gray.
The Black Cat trembled with cold inside Gray's armor.
"Father, I think we need to discuss this." Richie braced against the wind and snow as he caught up again, "Maybe you should leave me one or two enemies to deal with. As a Lich King's son, I also need glory and want an extraordinary life. Just one or two, not too powerful."
"You will have your own glory. Glory is not just about defeating enemies. Even defeating enemies is just the beginning. War is not our goal, it is only a last resort. After the war, we need to rebuild, and there are more things to do. Making everyone kind and righteous, letting the Holy Light shine in every corner of the world, is our true goal."
"Alright..." Richie felt helpless, frowning in grievance as he muttered, "Maybe I should continue to focus on studying magic. After all, I still need to find a way to extend mother's life. Human life is too short, I hope mother can always stay with me, as she is now, not become another Lich."
The fierce wind swept by, and young Richie followed in his father's footsteps.
...
In the white expanse, black figures had already been prepared. After casting magic, they blended into the snow, even the Golden Dragons flying overhead didn't notice them.
...
"Father, I really want a sister. Being the only Half-Lich in this world, I feel so lonely. Mother also wants a daughter, she just feels you're too busy to bring it up. And, what mother really wants is your company, not mine. Maybe you could delegate more things to me, so you can spend more time with mother."
Gray reached out to touch Richie's helmet and spoke softly, "There will be a sister, maybe even a brother. But it has to wait until after the war. We have more important things to do. And, you need to give me some time to make sure I can fully be a father."
"I think you're doing great already." After a pause, Richie continued, "Shall I tell mother that you also agree I should have a sister, and maybe a brother?"
"Alright," Gray replied.
"Does nobody ever think to ask me?" Vivian, floating around, rolled her eyes.
...
In another dimension, amidst the white expanse, a huge image hovered.
In the image was the envoy struggling forward.
"The Black Dragon Clan has just reported to us that they plan to carry out a decapitation strike on Lich King Gray, to reverse the current situation."
"Can they succeed?"
"So far, there is a high probability of success. Lich King Gray didn't bring many people on his mission to the Golden Dragons. They rely on the Golden Dragons for safety. However, the Golden Dragons have Black Dragon spies among them, and they are mobilizing all their available forces."
"If they succeed, what will be the situation on the Keltos Continent?"
"The Black Dragon Clan has promised that their territory will not extend beyond the borders of the Gustav Empire."
"I think they mean to ask for our help in stopping the Lich's counterattack."
"This is a very risky move. The undead will choose not to stop until death."
"You must admit, even if they don't do this, the undead wouldn't relent. The situation couldn't be worse for them."
...
"Hurry up! Are you all useless? Just a bit of wind and snow! You're as slow as turtles! What right do you have to call yourselves dwarves born in the snow mountains?" Aickleion continued shouting from the rear.
Aikleion and Lucy were discussing the secrets taught by the Golden Dragons.
"This is an unexpected reward, we have obtained the secret method of making food that the undead can also consume. When we return, we should immediately hold a banquet and invite all the Liches!"
"They will beg us to tell them, we should string them along for a while. I can't wait to see their helpless expressions."
