The Legend of the Four Seasons - Power and Divinity Recovery System

Chapter 17: Grass can be lethal

Distracted by the servants of the End once again corrupting the grass that was protecting the boys, Sete ended up being hit by one of the creatures. The blow hit her in the stomach, causing her to lose her breath and be thrown a few meters to the ground.

The young woman coughed, a little dazed, and got up before the shadows got too close. She needed to do something about the nefarious duo attacking the grass dome.

Having fallen near an abandoned building, it was possible to see some gray vines high up, a little closer than before. So Sete reached up with her free hand and closed her fingers into a fist, summoning the plants with her powers. The closer she got to the vegetation, the less energy she would spend using her powers.

Then the ivy trembled, turned green again in an instant and snaked swiftly through the walls of the building. The thick flexible vines ran along the floor around Sete and began to wrap around the four servants of the End who were already reaching her, wrapping around the creatures' arms and legs in order to slow down their movements.

Spring, meanwhile, ran up to the grass dome, which was all gray and brittle. Thomas and Kai looked terrified at the two servants of the End about to attack them, Sete wouldn't make it in time.

— Get down! — She shouted, reaching out her pale hand towards another handful of corrupted grass on the ground around the boys.

In the blink of an eye, the small leaves came to life. They grew exponentially, flexible and sharp as blades, and pierced the monsters' black pectorals moments before they landed fatal blows on Thomas and Kai.

Sete felt her vision blur, a pounding headache clouding her thoughts. She had used most of her powers to control the grass so effectively from a distance, so she could feel the vines wrapped around the other four servants of the End weakening their grip little by little.

So the young woman turned to the remaining creatures, walking in slow steps towards them. This has to end soon.

— KE-KE-KE, YOUR EFFORTS ARE INSIGNIFICANT. — The leader of the monsters grunted, tilting his head in a horrifying way. — YOU ARE AS WEAK AND PATHETIC AS INSECTS. OUR MASTER WILL CRUSH YOU, ONE BY ONE...

Sete pursed her lips, unaffected by the words of the servant of the End. She raised her arm once more, her hand horizontally facing the four shadows, about to use her powers again.

At the same moment, the monsters advanced at full speed. There was no time to retaliate or dodge accurately, so Spring summoned some nearby weed leaves. They detached themselves from the stalks and flew like homing missiles, hitting two of the creatures solidly.

Struck at vital points, the magically resistant and sharp leaves caused the monsters to die. However, there were still two of them left, who didn't care about their fallen partners and continued to advance.

— No! — Thomas shouted when he saw that Sete would receive another blow. He was able to stop time for a few seconds, just long enough for the young deity to strike one of the monsters with her grass spear.

The tip of the weapon, stuck in the neck of the servant of the End, broke off as it dissolved into dark smoke. The girl's powers were no longer able to maintain her invulnerable pique as before, as they had been greatly weakened.

In the next moment, Thomas paled and collapsed in his younger brother's arms. Time went back to normal and Spring was hit in the side of the body by the remaining creature, a blow that threw her against the wall of a nearby building.
