The Healers Awakening

The End Of A Normal Life

Dr. Tatsuya Watanabe had always been a man of purpose. At 34, he had a life most would envy—a loving wife, a fulfilling career as a surgeon, and the satisfaction of knowing he made a difference every day. He lived by the belief that every life he saved was a blessing. But that belief would soon be challenged in ways he could never have imagined.

It started like any other day in the hospital. Tatsuya was called into the emergency room for a peculiar case—a young man brought in with inexplicable symptoms. His skin was pale, almost gray, and his vitals were all over the place. Despite these abnormalities, the man seemed stable, though unconscious.

Tatsuya worked with his team, trying to determine the cause. None of the scans showed anything typical—no infections, no trauma, just… emptiness. As the hours passed, his worry grew. The patient’s condition wasn’t improving. In fact, it seemed to worsen inexplicably, despite their best efforts.

“Doctor, should we try another round of antibiotics?” his nurse asked, concern heavy in her voice.

Tatsuya shook his head. “It’s not an infection. There’s something else going on. Let’s stabilize him for surgery. We need to see what’s happening inside.”

The surgery was meant to be routine—exploratory, but controlled. However, nothing could prepare Tatsuya for what happened next.

As they began to make the first incision, the patient opened his eyes. Eyes that were now a deathly, milky white.

“He’s awake!” someone shouted.

Before they could react, the man sat up, his strength inhuman. In a blur of motion, he grabbed the nearest surgeon and threw him across the room like a ragdoll. Screams echoed through the operating theater as the once helpless patient turned into a beast, attacking everyone in sight.

Tatsuya tried to intervene, but the creature was too fast, too strong. It wasn’t long before he, too, was overpowered. As the creature’s cold hand wrapped around his throat, crushing the life from him, Tatsuya realized the truth—this was no ordinary disease. This was something far more sinister. And this would be the last thing he saw in this life.

Everything faded to black.
