Chapter 20: Chapter 20- Rescue of The Youkais End
"Alexandre, calm down."
Susanoo, the God of Storms, grumbled.
Anyone would get stressed seeing the way Alex was pacing back and forth. And he had been doing it for the last twenty minutes.
It was amusing at first, but then it started to get annoying. A few more minutes passed before the God finally had enough.
"Alexandre! For the love of all that's holy, sit the fuck down and calm your balls. Or I'll send you outside. I swear to you, brat."
"Sorry. It's just…" Alexandre couldn't finish; he just didn't know how.
"Look, Alex. You don't… how do I put this… screw it," Susanoo tried to help.
Keyword: *tried*. He wasn't that good at calming people down; that was his sister's job.
"Really," Alex grimaced. "Then please tell me I have nothing to do with the meeting Yasaka is having with the Demon Faction's emissary. Or the little fight you and Amaterasu had a few days ago with two Satans."
Susanoo pinched the bridge of his nose. Two days ago, Alexandre had stepped on the fragile treaty between the Youkai and the Demon Faction and kicked the entire Demon Faction in the head.
Figuratively speaking, of course.
The point was that the Demon Faction totally deserved it. There was no sugarcoating their actions, no pointing fingers. Trying to massacre an entire clan just because of one Youkai's actions?
Susanoo really wanted to know what the Satan was smoking at that moment, thinking those demons' actions were totally acceptable, that there would be no repercussions.
"Alexandre, you did what was right."
"But I could've done better."
Susanoo sighed at Alex's response. To him, Alex was taking this too hard.
He just wished Yasaka were here to calm him down.
But the Youkai leader was busy trying to fix this mess. Seeing that he wouldn't get any help from her anytime soon, he went for the 'honest words' route. Most of the time, that got him out of trouble—most of the time.
"Maybe, but ask anyone. They'd surely say your way was the best. And you know why?" Susanoo leaned forward, hand on his knee. "Because those bastards deserved it. And you know it."
"I know," Alex replied in a flash, but then his shoulders slumped. "But that doesn't change the fact that the Demon Faction will start coming after you all. And if it gets worse, then…"
Susanoo muttered, "Oh." Now he understood why Alex was beating himself up. But he didn't know he was worrying for nothing.
"Well, I can't deny that. You gave them an opportunity, but the thing is, you solved the problem yourself." Susanoo grinned, and it widened seeing the surprised look on Alex's face. But before he could ask 'how.'
"You know you've got a title now? The demons in the Underworld are calling you the 'White Demon.'"
"That…" Alex scratched the back of his head, unsure where this was going. "It's a cool title."
"This 'White Demon' not only massacred about two hundred demons but also took down a Satan in their own territory. And then there's the fact that said Satan can't remember what happened."
Susanoo elaborated with a smug face.
"I guess that dagger worked," Alex added absentmindedly.
"One of the artifacts you stole?" Susanoo raised an eyebrow in amusement.
"Yeah, it erases a being's memory. For how long? Depends on the strength of that being."
Susanoo shrugged. "Good thing it worked. But what I'm trying to say here is that you've earned a nasty reputation in the Underworld. And Yasaka took advantage of that. She dropped subtle hints… maybe not so subtle… to the demons that you might be working with us."
"Shouldn't that give them the perfect reason to retaliate?"
"Retaliate? Brat, you really need to brush up on your history lessons," Susanoo sighed. "The demons have strong leaders, I agree, but they don't have enough manpower to retaliate. For God's sake, they just came out of a bloody civil war; do you really think they're ready for another conflict? They try to get too touchy with us, other factions won't just sit and watch, you know."
Alex nodded absentmindedly. He knew this could happen; it was one of Amaterasu's plans, but even so, the fact that he let himself get carried away by anger irritated him.
If something happened to Yasaka, Kunou, or Amaterasu because of him, he'd never forgive himself.
"Oh, brat, news for you."
Alexandre quickly turned back to the God of Storms, who was on his phone.
"My sister wants to talk to you. Good luck."
Seeing the look on the God's face, Alexandre wasn't sure if everything would turn out okay.

In the grand temple dedicated to the Sun Goddess, she was looking out one of the large windows at the vast forest.
Alexandre slowly entered the temple, not bothering to be announced, and stood beside Amaterasu, his gaze also directed at the forest.
"You kept your word and saved the Nekoshou. I thank you."
The Sun Goddess spoke softly.
"No," in contrast, Alexandre had a serious look on his face. "I still think I didn't do enough, Amaterasu. I could've done much better."
"Regardless, Yasaka and I have no words to express our gratitude."
The Goddess's amethyst eyes continued to gaze at the vast forest, while the young man stayed silent for a few moments before deciding to speak.
"Amaterasu, you—"
"Can I trust you?"
Before Alexandre's words could finish, the Goddess interrupted him, and the White Dragon stiffened at her tone.
Her amethyst eyes hadn't turned to him, still fixed on the region's vast flora.
"I know I wasn't the first or only woman you've slept with, and at the same time, I know I'm not the woman you love."
His golden eyes widened slightly as he quickly turned to the Goddess.
"In fact, you have feelings for me, just as you do for Yasaka. It could even be called 'love,' but the woman you love most and seek above all is the one who saved you years ago."
His golden eyes slowly drifted from the Goddess, recalling times of sorrow he tried to forget.
A destroyed house…
Recalling those he couldn't save.
A man and a woman dead, and a golden-eyed child amidst the rubble, consumed by fear of being found by the enemy.
Recalling the day he failed.
When the enemy found him, clutching his weapon to claim the life of the golden-eyed child.
At the same time, recalling who saved him.
Then, the world blurred, a celestial light emerging from the sky and consuming his enemy, a winged figure appearing from the grand light.
The one who gave him a chance to live again.
The divine-looking face that appeared for just a moment before the boy lost consciousness, recalling the gentle voice that saved him.
His golden eyes seemed to return to the present, seeing the Goddess's amethyst eyes staring at him.
"I was right," the Goddess shook her head, her appearance as radiant as ashes. "But I don't care, because in the end, I love you with all my heart, and I don't care if you love someone else."
Her amethyst eyes were replaced, giving way to a flaming red that sought to discern all truth.
"So, can I trust you?"
"Even if you don't trust me, I would never betray you or do anything to hurt you."
His golden eyes were fixed, undaunted by the Sun Goddess's gaze that had intimidated so many enemies.
"You won't steal anything from me? I think that's impossible for you."
The Goddess wrapped her slender arms around Alexandre's neck as he held her waist.
"The only thing I'd want to steal from you, I already have."
Seeing her puzzled eyes, the human smiled cheerfully.
"Your heart."
A blush spread across the Sun Goddess's face as she looked away, embarrassed.
"Honestly, how many women have you already fooled with your sweet talk?"
"If you ask Cao Cao, he can probably tell you. He likely has a list."
Alexandre smiled carelessly, gently laying the Goddess on a bed newly summoned by magic.
As the Goddess lay down, her long pink hair spreading like a veil, her flushed face and shy amethyst eyes made the young man's heart race and awaken.
"You won't return to your true appearance, the one from when we met all those years ago?"
Seeing the young man's question, the Goddess smiled gently.
"Just this once, let me be yours this way."
They both smiled, and words were no longer necessary as their lips connected.
It would be a long night.

When the Sun finally shone again, the Goddess who controlled it awoke.
A feeling she hadn't felt in years, her body aching in that same way, the ecstasy she felt during the night, and the feeling of satisfaction at that moment.
When her eyes turned to her side, she saw a small tray with drinks like coffee, bread, cakes, and some fruits, along with a rose and a small note.
But at the same time, no sign of that man.
While reading the small note, a gentle smile appeared on the Goddess's face.
"Idiot…"
She wouldn't be angry anymore. She was a Goddess, and she would wait patiently for the man she loved.
