Chapter 111: Another Unexpected Visit
As Arion and his lovers enjoyed their time in Tempest, exploring the city and immersing themselves in its vibrant atmosphere, they kept a subtle but constant eye on the ongoing events back home and across the world.
Using their telepathic link and various spells of observation, they remained aware of everything unfolding, especially the interactions of Guy Crimson with the other Demon Lords.
While shopping in one of the quaint shops, admiring the craftsmanship of Tempest's vendors, the moment came when the war's aftermath became the center of attention. Arion's mind shifted briefly, focusing in on the ice-cold exchange between Guy Crimson and the three warring Demon Lords—Clayman, Frey, and Carrion. The scene unfolded as though a lesson of cosmic balance, and Arion couldn't help but feel a sense of respect for Guy's approach.
He turned to his lovers, who were scattered around the bakery, enjoying freshly baked pastries. With a soft chuckle, he whispered:
"Well, at least Guy gave them a good judgment."
Velzard, who had been savoring a soft bun, looked up at him, her piercing gaze giving away nothing, but a small smirk played at the corners of her lips.
"Yeah, Guy doesn't mince words. It's rare to see someone hold the line like that," she said, raising an eyebrow at the tension in Guy's decision. "But you know, it's exactly what those three needed. No fluff, just pure responsibility."
Testarossa, ever the sharp observer, added with a faint smile, "It was a very Guy Crimson approach—dominance, clear accountability, and a touch of terrifying power. No one ever questions him." She lightly tapped her fingers on the table, her expression almost playful. "I guess they'll have to swallow their pride now, especially Clayman. That fool always overestimates his own cunning."
Arion, who had been watching the situation unfold with a calm demeanor, took a deep breath and nodded thoughtfully.
"Indeed. Guy's decision was wise, but it wasn't mercy—he's not one to be soft. He knew how to balance punishment with responsibility. Those Demon Lords will remember their lesson and think twice before causing such chaos again."
As he spoke, Carrera leaned in from beside him, her soft laughter filling the space. "You can always count on Guy to take action swiftly. I do believe some of them might actually learn something from this... though, Clayman may need a bit more time to fully grasp his place in the grand scheme of things."
Arion chuckled softly, agreeing with her assessment.
"True. But at least the world's balance will stay intact, thanks to Guy's intervention. It's a lesson for all of us, in one way or another."
With that, he turned his attention back to the humming atmosphere of Tempest, a city that seemed to exude a sense of peaceful vitality. Even though they were on this brief visit, his thoughts remained intertwined with the future—both the here and now in Tempest, and the larger web of events playing out back in the Cardinal World.
The clinking of glasses and chatter of the townsfolk echoed through the streets, and Arion couldn't help but admire the beauty of it all. He had long since made peace with the endless struggles that came with power and dominance, and as the air shifted slightly, he looked to his lovers and smiled.
"No matter how powerful one gets, there's always balance, isn't there? One day we'll need to face this ourselves, but for now… we enjoy the peace."
His lovers nodded, each one deeply immersed in the moment, knowing that even amidst the calm and beauty of their time in Tempest, the storms of the world were never too far away.
But they were ready.
-----____----
During their stay, things had been relatively peaceful—aside from the occasional pranks from our mysterious guests, especially their leader. Even though I was still wary of them, they hadn't caused any trouble, and my people were starting to relax around them.
But just when I thought things were settling down, another massive presence made itself known.
It was sudden.
An overwhelming energy surged through the skies, approaching Tempest at an alarming speed. The sheer force of it made my entire body tense up, and I immediately stopped what I was doing.
I was in my office, drowning in paperwork when I felt it.
"…What the hell is that?"
It wasn't Arion or his lovers. No, those five had been suppressing their presence the entire time, which made them even more terrifying in their own way.
This presence, however, was completely unrestrained.
I quickly activated Thought Communication and reached out to Great Sage.
"Great Sage, analyze the incoming presence."
A brief silence, then a response.
"Individual Identified: Milim Nava. Title: Demon Lord. Designation: One of the Strongest Demon Lords."
I felt my stomach drop.
Demon Lord?!
From what I had learned, not all Demon Lords were equal in power. Some were far above the others, and if Great Sage classified her as one of the strongest…
That meant this could be bad.
I quickly sent out a thought message to my generals.
"Benimaru, Souei, Shion—get to the main gate. Now."
Benimaru responded almost immediately.
"Understood, Rimuru-sama. Should we mobilize our forces?"
I shook my head.
"No. If this is really a Demon Lord, attacking first could be a terrible mistake."
Just as I said that, I made a quick decision—I needed to move this away from Tempest. If this Demon Lord, Milim, was as powerful as Great Sage claimed, then a single misunderstanding could lead to mass destruction.
Without hesitation, I took off into the sky, flying toward an open area a little outside Tempest. I could still see the city in the distance, but if things got out of hand, at least the damage wouldn't reach my people.
I barely got into position before—
BOOOOOOM!
A massive impact shook the ground as Milim crashed down like a meteor, creating a small crater beneath her feet. Dust and debris scattered in all directions, and when it cleared, she stood there with her hands on her hips, looking at me with an excited grin.
"You're fast! But I'm faster!"
I sighed, already feeling a headache coming.
"I wasn't trying to race you…"
She tilted her head. "Then why'd you fly away? Afraid of me?"
Her teasing tone made it clear she was enjoying this, but I knew better than to play into her game.
I took a deep breath and kept my voice calm but firm.
"No. I just didn't want Tempest getting caught up in whatever this is."
Her grin widened. "Ohhh? You think I'd destroy your city?"
I narrowed my eyes. "Would you?"
She paused, then suddenly laughed loudly.
"PFFT—BWAHAHA! You're funny!"
I blinked.
…Huh?
She wiped a fake tear from her eye, still chuckling. "I mean, sure, I COULD destroy it, but I won't! I just wanted to check you out!"
I felt an overwhelming sense of relief, but I wasn't about to drop my guard just yet.
"Check me out?"
Milim crossed her arms and nodded enthusiastically. "Yup! I sensed something super interesting here, so I came to see for myself!"
I frowned at Milim, my instincts telling me to tread carefully.
"Alright… so what do you want?"
Milim placed her hands on her hips, grinning. "I saw your fight against the Orc Disaster! You were interesting, so I decided to come check you out myself!"
I blinked. That's it? That was her whole reason for showing up with enough power to make my instincts scream at me?
Just as I was about to respond—
"STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU FIEND!"
A blur of red, black, and purple shot toward us at full speed.
Benimaru, Shion, Souei, and Hakuro came flying in, their weapons drawn and their eyes burning with battle readiness.
Oh no.
"NO! DON'T—"
Before I could even finish my sentence, Shion swung her greatsword straight at Milim.
The world seemed to slow down.
Milim didn't move.
She didn't blink.
She simply tilted her head slightly—just enough to dodge Shion's attack by a hair's breadth.
Then, before anyone could react, she flicked her finger forward.
BOOM!
Shion was sent flying back at full speed, crashing into the ground with a deafening impact, creating a deep trench from where she landed.
"SHION!" Benimaru shouted, his aura flaring up in rage.
Souei and Hakuro vanished, moving at impossible speeds, reappearing behind Milim with deadly precision, their blades aiming for her blind spots.
It didn't matter.
Milim spun in place, effortlessly deflecting their attacks with just the back of her hand. The force of her casual counters sent them skidding backward, their weapons vibrating from the impact.
Benimaru roared, flames erupting around him as he launched a massive Hell Flare at her.
The explosion was enormous—
And then it vanished.
Not because Milim dodged.
Not because she blocked it.
But because she ate it.
She chomped down on the attack like it was a snack, swallowing it whole before licking her lips.
"Mmm~ Not bad! A little spicy!"
Benimaru froze, his expression shifting from rage to pure horror.
I tried to move toward them, to stop this madness before it escalated any further, but—
"Master, it's too dangerous!"
Ranga appeared out of nowhere, grabbed me by the back of my robe with his teeth, and dragged me away at full speed.
"NO, WAIT! STOP—"
Before I could even argue, a massive shockwave erupted from Milim's position, shaking the entire area. Dust and debris flew everywhere, and in the next instant, I saw Benimaru, Souei, and Hakuro all collapsed on the ground, groaning in pain.
And Milim?
She stood there, completely unharmed, grinning like she was just warming up.
I swallowed hard.
…Crap.
We were in so much trouble.
