Chapter 38: The Fatness of Gumpton Part 2
“Well now how are we supposed to get out of here, yo??” asked Bird.
“You can borrow one of our ships,” said the mouse. “They’re very good.”
“And what happened to our Energy Cube??” asked Klumpkrump.
“Yeah we kinda stole that one.”
“Can we have it back?”
“I don’t have the authority to be able to do that,” explained the mouse. “I am at the bottom of the pirate hierarchy. It sucks.”
“Maybe we can steal it back after we get the artifacts,” said Klumpkrump.
“Yeah, that would be pretty freaking epic,” said Plagiarize.
“Well, lead the way to the ship, bro!” said Hoofa.
As the gang was being led by the mouse whose name was yet to be revealed, Hoofa glimpsed Gumpton on one of the lower pathways. A bunch of balloons were tied to his back and he was floating along, being pushed by some mouse-mechs.
“YOU!!!!” yelled Hoofa. “Give me my elephant back!!!”
The mouse-mechs down below got in position to fire, but the one with the gang gave them some sort of weird signal.
“Gimme that,” said Hoofa, snatching the mouse’s gun out of Klumpkrump’s paws.
“I really don’t think that’s a good id--” said Bird, before Hoofa shouted a battle cry and jumped down to the lower platform, firing the gun at the mouse-mechs.
Of the shots that Hoofa fired, a couple of them did manage to hit the mouse-mechs, disabling them and making the mice inside run away. But one shot also hit GUMPTON! And these guns shot large orange lasers made of fire that burnt their targets. Plagiarize noted this.
“OH NO!” shouted Hoofa. “GUMPTON ARE YOU OKAY??”
Gumpton seemed to be relatively fine except for the fact that he was still floating and he had drifted so now instead of being above the pathway he was above a very long drop. Worst of all, one of the balloons had popped, so now instead of staying at a nice level elevation, he was slowly losing altitude.
“Don’t just stand there, guys!” yelled Hoofa. “Get over there and start blowing!!”
The gang (including the mouse) walked over to a pathway that was behind Gumpton and started blowing him back towards Hoofa. They were all furiously blowing but he was still moving much faster downwards than he was sidewards.
In the middle of all this chaos, an emergency announcement alerted all the pirates of Kearth that a human, 2 cat people, a dog, a penguin, a bear, and a pig were working together with one of their fellow pirates and that they needed to be stopped. The gang saw mouse-mechs making their way towards them in the distance.
“Hoofa, is he gonna make it??” shouted Klumpkrump.
Hoofa, from her position, could see that Gumpton was a lost cause. He was already below the level of the walkway she was on. They would have to go down to lower walkways to get him. But she knew they wouldn’t be able to get him because of the mouse-mechs. So Hoofa confirmed to the rest of the gang that he could make it and told them to keep blowing as she desperately tried to pull Gumpton up onto the walkway.
“Come on, Gumpton!!” said Hoofa, holding on to Gumpton’s trunk. Eventually Gumpton got too low for her to reach him, at which point she jumped onto his back and descended with him, escaping the mouse-mechs up above.
