Chapter 34: The Spring of the Chubby Girl 13
Time passed like a fleeting shadow, and Elora was about to celebrate her 18th birthday.
"Lora, are you looking so stunning because you're going on a date with your boyfriend again?" Elora's mother teased, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she observed her daughter, who was dressed especially beautifully today.
"Mom, I'm not talking to you, I'm leaving." Elora, still a bit shy, was not yet comfortable showing off her affection in front of her mother.
A few months ago, Elora had told her mother about her relationship with Cole.
Her mother had asked one question, "Are you serious?"
Elora didn't fully understand what her mother meant, but she nodded honestly.
"As long as he treats you well, I won't object."
Since then, her mother had taken to gossiping about Elora's love life, always eager to chat about it. Ah, mothers can never change their nature.
"Big sis, my grandpa collapsed. Can you help me take him to the hospital?" A young boy, looking no older than 10, rushed up to Elora at the school gate, tugging at her sleeve with an anxious expression.
"What happened?" Seeing the boy on the verge of tears, Elora immediately crouched down to comfort him.
"My grandpa had a heart attack, I can't carry him! Please, help me!" The boy pleaded, tugging at her as he pulled her towards the exit.
"Lead the way," Elora said, alarmed when she heard about the heart attack.
The boy guided Elora through winding streets, eventually leading her into a narrow alley.
Elora grew more puzzled as they walked further into the quiet, secluded area. "Where exactly is he?"
The boy glanced ahead, and Elora followed his gaze, spotting an elderly man lying ahead. She quickly jogged towards him. "Sir, are you..." Before she could finish, she was struck unconscious.
As she blacked out, her last thought was: Couldn't they have been a little gentler?
...
When Elora awoke, she found herself in a small, dark room.
She couldn't believe it—Elora had been kidnapped! She thought to herself: "Bound in a room, walls all around. No light above, only the sound of my growling stomach!"
But Elora wasn't particularly worried. After all, she had Vixen to help. She rarely made enemies, so who could have kidnapped her?
"Vixen, come out!" Elora mentally called out to the spirit fox.
"What's the matter?"
"Find out who kidnapped me."
"Okay, just a moment."
"Found it. It's Isabella!"
Elora stared, stunned—this was completely unexpected. She hadn't spoken to Isabella much. The only time they had clashed was when Isabella had given Cole an unfriendly look, and Elora had glared back. Was that enough to lead to her kidnapping?
"According to the information, Isabella is a reborn soul. Her family, along with Cole's, belongs to old, prestigious families. They had long arranged a marriage between her and Cole, planning for them to wed after graduation. But then she met Ryan.
Ryan, a man from humble origins, is psychologically unstable, though he's handsome and disguises himself well. Isabella fell for him and, despite everything, broke off her engagement with Cole to marry Ryan.
After marriage, though Ryan earned a good income, he never gave Isabella a penny and would abuse her, both physically and emotionally. Isabella became a shell of herself, tortured by him until she was psychologically broken.
One day, she accidentally saw an interview with Cole, and it broke her. She killed Ryan and then took her own life.
Unexpectedly, she was reborn in this life, determined to be with Cole, but then you intervened. That's why she snapped and kidnapped you. She believes that if you die, she can reclaim Cole."
Elora felt utterly overwhelmed. What on earth had she done to deserve this?
"Elora? Heh." Isabella's voice, tinged with mockery, echoed in the room. She suddenly grabbed Elora's hair, yanking her head up.
Caught off guard by the sudden movement, Elora didn't react in time, allowing Isabella to control her. "Isabella!"
"Surprised to see me, are you?" Isabella's grip tightened, her face darkening with malice.
The woman was ruthless. Elora winced at the sharp pain in her scalp. "What do you want?" Elora's eyes burned with defiance.
"Last time, you sent out those photos of you when you were so overweight. How come Cole didn't break up with you?" Isabella's fingers gently caressed Elora's face. "I didn't expect that after losing weight, your face became so beautiful. Do you think Cole is only interested in your looks? I'm going to carve a cross into your scalp, and once it's done, I'll pour mercury into it. The mercury will force your muscles and skin apart. Do you think he'll still love you then?"
