Chapter 32: The Spring of the Chubby Girl 11

"What's wrong?" Elora wrapped her arms around Cole's waist, gently stroking his back.

"Let me hold you for a moment."

Elora lay quietly in Cole's embrace. After a long while, Cole finally loosened his hold. "It's nothing, but remember to call me!"

"I will, be careful on the road!" Elora leaned in and planted a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth.

It was only when Elora's figure disappeared into the corridor that Cole withdrew his gaze, started the car, and drove toward N City...

...

Elora stood quietly beneath the large tree at the entrance of A University, waiting for Cole.

Originally, she had planned to come with him today, but her parents insisted on personally escorting her to school since it was her first day. So, she had to go alone.

Noah, as usual, was riding his bicycle to class when a striking figure caught his eye. A young girl in a red sweatshirt stood out among the crowd, her bright eyes shining on her delicate, oval face. Just one glance was enough to make his heart race.

Noah walked over, his face breaking into a sunny smile. "Hello, may I help you with something?" His sole focus at that moment was to learn her name.

"No, thank you," Elora responded, meeting his gaze. The boy in front of her was good-looking, but why was he offering his help? There had to be an ulterior motive. Her face hardened with suspicion.

"I'm Noah. What's your name?" Undeterred by her coldness, Noah pressed on, refusing to let her go without an answer.

Elora cast a disdainful glance at him, unwilling to engage further. Just then, she spotted Cole approaching, and a smile instantly blossomed on her face as she rushed to greet him.

Noah, watching Elora, who had been indifferent to him moments ago, now beaming at another man, felt a pang of realization. Was this the person she had been waiting for? It seemed she already had such a remarkable boyfriend. No wonder she hadn't bothered with him—he hadn't even made a move, yet had already failed before he started.

Noah sighed bitterly and walked away in silence.

"Why are you so late?" Elora mumbled under her breath. "I've been waiting forever."

From a distance, Cole had noticed Noah chatting away with Elora, his eyes filled with admiration for her. He had originally considered asking Noah for a favor, but seeing him give up so easily, Cole decided to let it go.

"Traffic was heavy," Cole replied casually, taking Elora's hand in his. "Let's go, we need to report to the school!" But seeing that Elora still seemed upset, he added with a smile, "I'll take you to eat something delicious afterward."

Elora's heart lifted, but she masked it with indifference. "Well, since you're so sincere, I suppose I'll reluctantly accompany you."

Cole grinned in response. "Yes, yes... Thank you, my lady, for gracing me with your presence."

The two exchanged a playful smile and walked hand in hand to the registration office, basking in their shared sweetness.

...

Cole and Elora both chose to major in Software Engineering.

At lunch, they happened to run into the third girl from their group who had been recommended to the university—the same red-dressed girl from the English competition.

"Hello, I'm Isabella," she smiled, extending her hand to Cole.

The moment Elora saw her, a wave of distaste washed over her. Isabella's gaze was so openly possessive of Cole, it felt as if Elora herself didn't exist. The way Isabella was staring at Cole made Elora's skin crawl. Without thinking, Elora positioned herself firmly in front of Cole.

Cole, amused by her actions, couldn't help but chuckle. How could someone who was only 5'5" possibly block him, a man who stood 6'1"?

"Come on. Didn't we plan to try the new dishes today?" Cole ignored Isabella's outstretched hand and, instead, took Elora's hand and led her past her toward the restaurant.

As they passed by Isabella, Elora shot her a smug smile, silently daring her to try to get Cole's attention. If she wanted to talk to him, it would have to be on her terms.

Cole gave her hand a light, playful squeeze, signaling her to ease up a bit.

Elora stuck out her tongue at him but quickened her pace, pulling him along.

Only when Elora was completely out of sight did Isabella reluctantly retract her hand, her eyes narrowing with a flicker of cold resentment.
