Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Moving Into the Big Villa
Xia Wan had always been a solitary person, living alone. She quietly took out her household registration book from her exquisite handbag, which looked a bit worn but carried important information.
Grandmother Huo, quick and agile, immediately took the household registration book from her hands, smiling as she said, "Leng Yan, hurry and go get their marriage certificate!"
Leng Yan, standing nearby, respectfully responded, "Yes, Old Madam, I'll go right now."
Before he finished speaking, he dashed out of the door like an arrow released from a bow.
Grandmother Huo tightly held Xia Wan's delicate little hand, her gaze full of affection and kindness as she gently said, "Child, come with me. We're going home."
Xia Wan immediately widened her eyes, a confused and helpless expression on her face. Stammering, she replied, "Go... go home? No, no, I don't want to go home!"
Grandmother Huo, being very sharp, immediately saw through Xia Wan's thoughts. She gently patted the back of Xia Wan's hand and patiently explained:
"Wanwan, don't worry. I'm not taking you back to the Summer family, the place that makes you sad. I'm taking you to my precious grandson's villa!"
Upon hearing this, Xia Wan felt a weight lift from her chest. She sighed in relief and smiled brightly, as long as it wasn't back to that painful place filled with bad memories.
She happily nodded and said, "Yes, yes! Thank you so much, Grandma!"
With just a few words, the kind-hearted and innocent Xia Wan had unknowingly "sold" herself out.
Meanwhile, in a spacious, brightly lit, and luxuriously decorated office.
Huo Siyuan sat with a grim expression at his large desk, buried in paperwork.
Suddenly, the sharp ring of a phone shattered the stillness of the room—"Beep beep! Beep beep!"
This phone was Huo Siyuan's private property, highly confidential. Under normal circumstances, only a few people had access to this number, and others couldn't easily contact him.
At this moment, his assistant, Feng Chi, carefully took the phone and quickly walked over to Huo Siyuan, lowering his voice to a whisper that only the two of them could hear, saying, "Second Master, the caller is Old Madam Huo. She says it's urgent and very important."
However, Huo Siyuan's face remained cold as he replied indifferently, "Grandma?"
His frosty face seemed as though it were covered in a layer of ice, sending a chill down anyone's spine.
Feng Chi glanced at the phone's call log, thinking to himself. Then, he respectfully advised, "Second Master, Old Madam has called 68 times in a row. It must be something truly urgent."
Hearing this, a hint of worry and respect was evident in his voice.
Facing such persistent calls from his grandmother, Huo Siyuan couldn't help but reluctantly pick up the phone, speaking in a flat, indifferent tone, "Hello, Grandma."
The person who dared to "bombard" Huo Siyuan's phone with such numerous calls could only be Old Madam Huo.
His cold, aloof voice showed no warmth, even when speaking to family. It felt more like a blast of icy wind, sending a shiver down one's spine.
Upon hearing her grandson's cold, disinterested tone, Old Madam Huo's heart filled with a surge of anger, and she scolded him in a stern tone:
"Ah, you brat! Listen to how you're speaking to your dear grandmother! Don't you remember, I raised you from childhood with great care? You're truly an unfilial grandson…"
Huo Siyuan, seeing this, furrowed his brows slightly. His expression remained indifferent, but his tone softened a little as he responded, "Grandma, what's the matter?"
Hearing her grandson's slightly gentler voice, Old Madam Huo's anger immediately dissipated, and her face brightened into a smile.
She quickly replied, "Oh my, my precious grandson! Today, I did something really wonderful! I've found you a good wife."
Upon hearing this, Huo Siyuan's heart sank with a thud, and he silently cursed in his mind.
— His grandmother had probably started her usual meddling again.
He forced himself to suppress his anger and, still keeping a calm expression, slowly asked, "Oh? Grandma, you've actually found me a wife?"
Grandmother Huo, completely unaware of the change in her grandson's mood, continued to bask in her self-satisfaction, happily speaking:
"Of course! I guarantee you'll absolutely love this wife! You can rest assured, I know people well! And I've already personally sent her to your villa, so you need to treat her well. Don't bully her. Remember, she's sweet and innocent. If you dare treat her badly, just wait and see how I'll handle you!"
At this point, Huo Siyuan was left speechless, his face showing an expression of disbelief. It took him a while to snap out of his daze, muttering helplessly to himself, "Grandma, are you serious, or is this a joke?"
Grandmother Huo, having resolved a long-standing issue that had troubled her for years, was now in high spirits.
Laughing, she said, "I've already sent your wife to your villa. You can go back there and see her. I promise you'll like her…"
Before Huo Siyuan could respond, the call ended with a click.
After hanging up, Huo Siyuan's face turned as dark as storm clouds. His already cold expression became even more chilling.
He barely moved his lips and coldly asked, "Feng Chi, have you found any results on the person I asked you to investigate?"
Feng Chi, standing nearby, was dressed in a fine suit, but his legs couldn't help but tremble. He knew very well that the second master was not someone to be trifled with. If he failed to complete the task, he might even lose his hands.
The issue wasn't that Feng Chi lacked the ability to investigate, but rather the fact that the person they were looking into had very little information available, making it difficult to proceed. If they had known more about this person's identity and background, the investigation would have been easier.
Now, faced with a completely unknown individual, the difficulty of the investigation had grown significantly.
Feng Chi trembled as he answered, "Second Master, please don't be angry. It's my fault. Please punish me!"
Huo Siyuan slowly raised his head, his gaze sharp as an eagle's, locking onto Feng Chi.
Feng Chi felt an invisible pressure bearing down on him, causing him to shudder involuntarily.
Then, Huo Siyuan coldly spat out a command: "Go to the [Cloud Peak Villa] immediately."
Meanwhile, inside the [Cloud Peak Villa], Xia Wan quietly lay on the bed in her room. When Grandma had brought her here, she couldn't believe her eyes.
The villa was simply enormous, at least ten times the size of the Summer family's house. The architecture was grand, with every brick and stone exuding a low-key yet luxurious aura.
Moreover, just earlier, Grandma had already arranged their marriage certificate, but didn't give it to Xia Wan, saying, "I want to look at your marriage certificate a few more times."
Xia Wan hadn't even had the chance to ask what her husband's name was yet.
While lost in thought, she suddenly heard the sound of an engine from downstairs.
Xia Wan walked to the window and looked down. From the commotion, she knew that it must be Grandma's grandson, her nominal husband, returning.
In a soft, sweet voice, she murmured, "Husband."
Although they had only met once, he was the only family she had left in this world, and she always longed to be closer to him.
Lost in thought, she quietly walked downstairs. When she reached the staircase, she heard his voice, so she stopped and hid around the corner at the foot of the stairs.
All the servants in the villa were outside at the front door, welcoming the second master home, so no one noticed the young mistress standing at the bottom of the stairs...
