The First Cultivator - Changing Existence

After being given a chance to read the name of the technique, a timer officially started. One had to show sufficient mastery within 72 hours. The first monster started at the same time as everyone else. He began to go through the technique and understand it. In most situations, it would use multiple arms, antennas, or anything else that would stick out of the body.

With tentacles, this was a perfect match for the first monster. Unfortunately, it was a truly useful technique. These techniques were shells of other techniques. They were used to test beings, not give them a free technique. Even if one perfected everything in the jade slip, the technique would be weak.

But it could be used as inspiration to develop a technique based on it. The first monster's eight tentacles moved around as crackling lightning appeared. Occasionally, it would instantly zap from one tentacle to another. A day passed, and the first monster was able to control arcs of lightning between seven of his eight tentacles.

In just a few hours, he had mastered it to a satisfactory level. He was given a mark of citizenship and was able to leave the arena early.

He did not stay behind. The first beast would surely pass, as despite everything, his talent was nearly as great as the first monster's.

As the first monster began to leave the arena, three beings appeared. One was a crab, the other an eagle, and the last a tiger.

The crab seemed ordinary enough, just red, large, and very powerful. The eagle had streaks of lightning flickering around it at all times, and it seemed just as strong as the crab. The tiger was as ordinary as could be, orange and black, but its power carried the same weight as the other two.

The crab spoke first. "On behalf of the Sea Beast alliance, I invite you to meet with our lord attending the event."

Next was the eagle. "On behalf of the Lightning Beast alliance, I invite you to meet with our lord attending the event."

Finally, the tiger spoke. "On behalf of the Beast Alliance, I invite you to meet with our lord attending the event."

Although the first monster did not know exactly how the Sovereign Tree worked, he had lived long enough to understand general politics.

He nodded and spoke. "I will visit all three of your lords. Where to first?"

The three looked at each other before the crab led the way.

They headed into the back of the arena stands and took a path that led to a private room.

The other two waited outside while the crab brought the first monster into a room. Inside was a penguin with a monocle.

The crab that had brought the first monster kneeled towards the penguin for a moment before moving to the side.

"Hello, Nie Shanzi. I am the appraiser of the Sea Beast alliance. Although I don't usually attend these sorts of events, I had some free time today and took the opportunity to relax. I never expected to see a Sea Beast with such talent. Please, take a seat."

The penguin gestured toward a chair next to him. He also gestured for the crab to leave, leaving him and the first monster alone.

As the first monster sat, the penguin looked him up and down. "There's something off about you. But I can't put my finger on it."

The first monster shrugged.

Our Sea Beast alliance is under the protection of the Time Sovereign clan. The other two inviting you are also connected to Sovereign clans, but the value of the Sea Beast alliance doesn't end there. The first monster listened as he took a drink.

It seemed that choosing to join the Sea Beast alliance was the logical choice.

But he would at least hear out the other two.

The trip to the Lightning Beast alliance didn't seem all that special. Another lightning eagle was the lord he met, and it promised access to the best lightning based techniques in the Sovereign Tree.

But the first monster wasn't even particularly talented in the usage of lightning based techniques. He could have mastered almost any technique that fast.

The final visit was to the Beast Alliance. As the name suggested, this was the most basic of all of the alliances. But at the same time, it was the biggest. It had more members than half of the other alliances combined, even if the quality was a bit lower.

He met with a gorilla beast. It promised good treatment and a chance to rise to the top of the largest alliance in the Sovereign Tree. But there was nothing overly tempting about it. It was just normal treatment.

He had more or less made his decision as he headed towards the Sea Beast alliance's meeting room.

Suddenly, a beast in humanoid form, with goat horns sticking out of its head, bumped into the first monster. The beast's strength was surprisingly strong, causing the first monster to bend over a bit.

At the same time, the beast in humanoid form bent over and whispered into his ear.

"The resistance stands strong against sovereignty. The Beast Alliance is your home."

The beast grabbed the first monster and held him up.

"Sorry about that." He said before walking off.
