Chapter 1566: Zong Family (12)
"Those two, huh? What else can they do? They fight or quarrel every single day." Aunt Xinghua shook her head. "I saw that kid a few days ago. It's already close to four months, but every day all the kid does is lie there. Hungry or wet, not even a whimper..." She sighed and pointed at her head. "Afraid they'll end up being a fool in the future."
Everyone couldn't help but show a hint of sorrow.
But the sympathy faded quickly. It's all their own doing, no one else to blame.
They continued discussing other things that had happened in the village lately, and before long, it was getting late.
Yang Ruxin walked out of Aunt Hehua's house, glanced at the old Yang Family residence in the distance, then turned around and headed away.
"Xinxin." Just as she got to the storage shed, she saw Zhao Xinghua chasing toward her.
"Aunt Xinghua, what's up?" Yang Ruxin stopped walking. She had sent Xiaofeng home earlier after delivering gifts, and didn't bring Du Man and Du Juan along. So now, she was alone.
"About Xiaoxia's mother, I owe you an apology. We really didn't expect her to..."
"It's got nothing to do with you, auntie." Yang Ruxin waved her hand. "Now she's been punished. Just hope you won't hold it against me."
"That's her own fault; no one else to blame." Zhao Xinghua sighed. "Xinxin, actually, I'm looking for you about my son."
"Brother Tie Dan?"
"Yes." Zhao Xinghua sighed again. "I suspect he might have someone in his heart, but he won't tell us. When we ask, he gets irritated."
"You're not thinking of having me ask, are you?" Yang Ruxin frowned.
"He listens to you. If you ask, maybe he'll tell the truth." Zhao Xinghua looked at Yang Ruxin with a pleading expression. "Let him know that as long as the girl has good character, his dad and I will accept her."
"Alright," Yang Ruxin said reluctantly. "But I can't promise that he'll tell me. After all..."
"That's fine." Zhao Xinghua waved her hand. "If he won't even tell you, then there's no hope with anyone else."
After parting ways with Aunt Xinghua, Yang Ruxin turned and headed out of the village. But after just a few steps, she saw a stranger carrying a basket walking toward her. It seemed like the woman had been out picking wild greens.
Because she was unfamiliar, Yang Ruxin didn't intend to greet her.
"Isn't this Xinxin?" The woman, however, smiled and approached as soon as she spotted Yang Ruxin. "I've been saying I should stop by and greet you, just haven't found the time... Of course, the main thing is I don't know you well, felt a little awkward barging in... haha..."
Yang Ruxin raised an eyebrow slightly. "You know me?" This person was rather presumptuous, wasn't she?
"I'm from Zheng Kuan's family," the woman quickly introduced herself. "Just married two months ago."
Yang Ruxin understood. "Then I should be calling you auntie." She had heard about it before. Zheng Kuan had saved a widow from the mountains who fled from a disaster. Afterward, she stayed and married Zheng Kuan, despite him having only one arm.
"No need to be so formal. I'm new here and barely know anyone." Zong Family smiled broadly. "I've heard so much about how capable you are, Xinxin. Always wanted to get acquainted. Running into you today, guess it's fate..."
"It's getting late. I should be heading back." Yang Ruxin really didn't want to get into idle chat, so she cut her off. "See you around, auntie."
